does anybody know what is the cheapest i could buy a run down appartment in down town cairo for as i am moving here in may and would rather buy cheap appartment and do it up not worried about area as long as its in down town

checked both these sites but no matches in downtown plus only have luxury apartments i want old and cheap so i can do it up but thanks anyway

There is a rumour going about at the moment that in 2OO5 tourists will not be allowed to buy their own property or own cars. Certainly the government has just recently introduced a new tax on properties owned by tourists. It might be worth your while investigating this further, as it might be better for you to rent. You might be able to get some information from the Egyptian embassy in your own country, although in my experience of them, they dont know anything either. Charlie.
