im too much of a gentleman to answer that to directly but this might work.
a guy was at an airport and he was watching the planes take off and he would look at the bellies of the plaane and then he turned to his friend and said
"How do you know if a bird is greek"
" Tell me said the friend,"
"Well if it's greek it got hair under the wings"
hope that helps a bit and they dont shave where muslim's shave

Ok here's my info based on the fact that i was there two weeks ago.
Shopping is quite expensive..but the good things is best shopping area is around the acropolis. So u go sightseeing then shopping and u ll find the best restaurants there.
Nightclubs are fine. Nothing special but there's a specific "local" nightclub where they have the local dances and everything , of course i forgot the name. But that's what u look for..the local clubs not the "chic" ones.

Islands: The best island is mykonos and u have to check my spelling. I had a great time there and it's close to athens. May be 2 hrs by boat. Also u have to..HAVE TO check Hydra, reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallly nice and only and hr from athens by boat (flying dolphin)
Also, poros and paros are nice islands nothing special abt them except that poros has sandy beaches.
Making friends..well, if u know the language! Not everyone speaks english but they r extremely friendly. Body language works all the time .
Men have unbeleievable amount of hair!!! out of the ears, nose....unebelievable walahi! But you'll be fine, as far as communication is concerned.
What else?Ill add anything if i remember.

Most Egyptians are extremely filthy. Filth is in their blood. A guy was at an airport and he was watching the people passing by and he would look at something that looked like walking filths and then turned to his friend and said: how do you know they are Egyptians? Well Egyptians never wash his friend answered. Egyptians love dirt. You cant believe the anount of dirt it comes out of their every step

Also Egyptians are very cunny people, but otherwise a nice folk. Egypt is a nice country. And the women oh so beautiful, except from the fact that most of them have mustaches and are extremely fat. Otherwise gorgeous women They are racists but note- only to darker skinned people. The good thing is they hate generalisations and stereotyping people (with the exception of non egyptians).

I am Greek and can assure you that we are the most feminine women in Europe along with Italian and maybe Spanish as well..We are not catholics to not shave ,in fact many women here follow the oreintal tradition of "brazilian waxing" (yes, their genitals) and are very clean and well groomed. And if that wasn't true i wouldn't have a nice egyptian boyfriend( egyptians appreciate feminine girls)

Maybe you confused us with the despicable hairy BRITISH women (or French lol)
ciao!!

I followed this topic and I can say to those people who are only talking about that Greek women don't shave or the guys also have much hair sticking out everywhere - this is really IDIOTIC. I mean if you want to give some valuable information to someone about this wonderful country then you can do much better than that.

I've been once on holidays to Greece when it was still inexpensive before the EURO became the official currency. I went to Korfu which is a little island of many belonging to Greece. And I really enjoyed my vacation.

I can say that Greek people in general are very friendly and hospitable, they are great in dealing with tourists without becoming a hassle, I love their culture (which they are very proud of themselves), their architecture, their music - and their food!

My husband went couple of times to Greece for work (NATO) and if I wouldn't have become pregnant again in '99 we would have moved to the town of Larissa on the main island the following year. My hubby also mentioned that Greek people speak English but only in the big cities and touristic areas.

Greece is beautiful and definitely worth a trip or two...... or even more!

Hear this from a Turk:

Greece is a lovely country. I have been there half a dozen times. People are very friendly and pretty civilized (not to the extent of Western Europeans which can get real boring).

The food is amazing, people know how to have fun and the beaches are great. I strongly recommend you go to the Cyclades islands. Most famous ones are are Mykonos & Santorini and both are amazing. You go to Mykonos to have wild fun. Even though it is known as a gat island, majority of people are straight. Do not miss the Paradise and SuperParadise beaches. If you are a couple, go to Santorini for romance. If you are single, do not go because you will feel lonely. Go to Ios instead where even wilder parties take place.

There are direct flights to Mykonos and Santorini from Athens. Alternatively, you can go by fery or catamaran (the latter is faster and more expensive). Make sure you take white cotton clothes with you, because that's what people wear.

Prices are not comparable to Egypt. It is 2-3 times more expensive depending on where and when. Please note that now is off-season, so you can nkt enjoy the islands this time of the year. And I would not go to Greece just for Athens.

Have fun and let me know if you have any questions.
