Iran set to upset Egypt with '34 Bullets for Pharoah'

TEHRAN (AFP) - An extremist Iranian Islamist group announced it was working on a film about the 1981 assassination of Egyptian president Anwar Sadat entitled "34 Bullets for the Pharoah".
The documentary, produced by the "Committee for the Glorification of Martyrs for the World Islamic Movement", is certain to further upset Cairo -- with whom Tehran cut diplomatic ties after Sadat signed the 1979 Camp David peace accord with Israel.
"The documentary will feature raw images of the assassination of Sadat, the trial of the martyr Khaled Islamboli and his companions ... and their motivation for executing the signatory of the first peace treaty between an Arab country and Israel," the group promised in a statement faxed to AFP.
It will "soon be available on CD-ROM", the group said.
Iran's previous president, the reformist cleric Mohammad Khatami, made tentative efforts to restore diplomatic relations with Egypt -- the only Arab state with which Iran does not have normal relations.
Two years ago a key obstacle was lifted when Tehran city council agreed to rename a city centre street bearing the name of Khaled Islamboli, who riddled Sadat with bullets during a military parade in 1981.
Egypt's current president, Hosni Mubarak, was also injured in the attack.
But the street signs have yet to be taken down, and a huge mural of the assassin still looks over the busy city centre road. The street name is not the only problem, as Cairo has also taken issue with Iran's alleged support of Egyptian Islamist groups.
Iran's new president, the hardliner Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, also warned in October that Muslim leaders who recognise Israel "face the wrath of their own people."
The Committee for the Glorification of Martyrs for the World Islamic Movement has previously also erected monuments for Khaled Islamboli and for Palestinian and Lebanese suicide bombers.
The group, which appears to be able to operate free of any official restrictions, has also held recruitment events for would-be suicide bombers.

We had our Naturalization interview today, my husband will be sworn in in Febuary.
I was immensely annoyed, but managed to button it over the fact that our interviewer wouldn't stop discussing an Iranian couple. The Iranian couple basically was using their green card as a tourist visa and broke every single rule imaginable. They retain their green cards, but will have to start the whole process over again for naturalization.
What bothers me besides the fact that this was confidential information, was the fact that these Iranians didn't seem to have any respect for the law of the land. I have been bending over backwards to adhere to USA immigration law in addition to learning about Egyptian law.
I like Iranian history, and their development of Islamic philosophy but their current propaganda is extremely frightening.
To have a street named after the assasin, let alone a public mural of the event is really an afront to civilized society.
Shocked, taken back and also very concerned about the safety of Iranians who are adherent Muslims and basically good people.
