Why doesn't everyone try it today? Most of you all are very nice, but negativity has run rampant over the boards lately, driving some really cool people away. And I'm not so impressed with this place myself.
So how about everyone try to be nice...or at least not so personally cruel toward individual people...no wishing people dead or judging how good a Muslim someone is. Just for today.
Please?
I'll start. I'm sorry for anything I may have said to anyone that is negative or mean or hurtful.
Cheers,
Snoozin.

I am very peaceful in this moment.... eating Nutella (= chocolate spread) on a fragrant piece of bread. Nutella is what I use when I am in a bad mood... always works!

Sounds better than what I had for breakfast. I bought a jam made of bananas, rum, and pineapple. I don't know why it sounded good at the time, but it was AWFUL! Blech!

"Be nice today!"...these are the words that i say to myself every morning...
But in the evening, when i am here, somehow they become... "Thin ice, dude, hey!"
But i'm still trying every time, even if i'm not that good with any kind of blades...

Saw a older man digging through our apartment garbage bin today. He was whinning in the manner my husband does when he is overwhelmed and about ready to explode.
Basically I was chucking the old bread onto our living-room window's outer ledge so birds will come to eat and entertain Ms. Kitty.
I took a good look at him while depositing the plastic bags into our trash bin. Frail, thin, 3 coats on, muttering in an African language. He was dumpster diving.
I asked him if he was hunger and I saw his eyes shaking with desperation. I offered him some chilli I had in my fridge. He didn't even bother to ask if it was halal.
So I went inside to warm up a double helping of chilli, prepare a water bottle, and an orange.
by the time I came out he was on the apartment building's stoop waiting for me. He was being harrassed by a person in a vehicle. Somehow when yuppie bastards are sitting out there drinking beer and smoking dope no one harrasses them!
So I gave him the food, reassured him it was ground beef and 10 bean chilli completely halal. He should me his ID card for a mental health clinic and asked if I had $4 to give him for his anti-depressants. He is a Ethiopian refugee. I told him $4 won't buy him anti-depressants, he needs to go to "Catholic Charities" and ask for help (Catholic Charities have been far better at hooking homeless up with services than the city or county for quite some time)or even go to his brothers at the Somali Community Center. He lowered his head and looked very ashamed. I think he is afraid to ask anyone for help, especially another Muslim.
I just makes me so angry that my city/community cannot help the neediest of the needy.
But I have a great deal of hope that this man will come to his senses and go to his brothers at the Somali Community Center to get his life on track. I just have a little more hope today.

You have touched a fact we have been complaining about ages ago
We, Muslims, are not at all that helpful to each others like the other people are
We don't have that Solidarity
Yes we got tagged institutions every where but the hearts in the Muslim bodies are not that sentimental about their own brothers needs and specially the homeless

Actually a number of Muslim communities here in the USA have a great deal of solidarity.
A Muslim in need in the USA usually has a great many of associations to go to for help. And these associations aren't infringed by the government like they are in Europe.
Muslims here can be extremely helpful to each other.

No Corv, I am completely broke and still in considerable debt.
I won't be able to give anything until I get several fiascos straightened away.
Not all Americans are made of money.
Though I did teach ESL as a volunteer for 3 years. Half of my students were Somali (Muslims). The skill and use of English is worth more than any money I could part with.

In the short time that I have been a muslim, I have established a charity. I think I may be the only one (sister) in my town, who dons her hijab. I hope that establishing this organization will help others, who are muslim, feel comfortable, and want to organize
