To all the arabic speakers here reading this today. This so eloquently say's what I cannot. It paints quite a disturbing picture of an educated arabic moslem woman does'nt it. Searching and stalking someone for the fun of it. In turn she is insulting my husband. A fellow egyptian. For those of you not aware of this culture to insult a moslems wife is to insult him.
and cesar... it was a language kids used... mainly girls, that the teachers couldnt understand..... at least thats what we thought!!!

my egyptian friends have said to me their favorite nationality is the scots because we are so friendly and can laugh at ourselves. they said that when egyptians get annoyed they curse and spit like you have just raped their mother (his words not mine).
is this the same for children. will my kids be exposed to this kind of behaviour?

Charm, you are not on my "ignore list". I find your posts actually entertaining and you bring a good balance into this forum.
Why do we need to have all the time these arguments? Did you ever realize this is mostly done by ES women (and I am not speaking to the males here! ). I think you are all interesting people in your own way - regardless of views and opinions - and I would love to meet most of you one day.

thanks tigerlily... its funny, i dont offend easily and im not bothered by what people think of me... but i have found myself taking this to heart a bit, im not sure why, i was giving it some thought last night in bed, i suppose its because in my 'real' life i dont seem to offend anyone, and if i ever have a cross word with anyone its over something both parties understand fully. im not whinging about not being understood, but explaining myself is new to me. and i have to add that ES is part of my 'real' life, so i find it hard to dismiss whats said here compleatly. my final thought before i fell asleep was that this is all good, this is what i need to learn BEFORE i move to Egypt... if im taking it to heart a bit from people i cant see while still at home.... imagine how bad i would feel on my own over there face to face with all this!!!

is arab an offensive term. what do i call someone who is speaking arabic. arab folks in that context just refers to the people who speak arabic.
and for those of you who are wondering what i wrote about 'arab people' i said they were very clever to use 3s and 7s to express a sound and that the scottish dialect could use a 1 to express a T that is pronounced in the back of the throat.
im not sure why this is offensive....

Charm, even myself I take some things with me from ES to bed (thoughts only LOL)..... this forum is a part of my life too. Unfortunately I spend too much time on it instead on focusing on other things in my life, but it's hard since I really want to be back in Egypt.
And it's good that you want to prepare yourself well before moving to Egypt. Although I must say that you should just go over there for a trial period, say like over the summer vacations, don't break off bridges completely to England. You know many things look different if you are not just a tourist anymore but live in Egypt permanently. And I know you have four children like me which is a huge responsibility. You see if we move back my kids will be well taken care of with schooling since they will attend for no cost a Western school (because of my husband's profession).
