Attempted rape at Sadat metro station shocks the nation

CAIRO: Two policemen were arrested Wednesday after they allegedly attempted to rape a girl at the Sadat metro station in broad daylight, local press reported.
The prosecution is carrying out investigations of the shocking incident that took place in the office assigned for the service of metro users at the station.
The aggrieved girl reported to prosecution that she had stopped to ask the officer about the exit leading to KFC.
One of them pointed to the office, saying mockingly that this was KFC and pulled her into the room.
They then closed the door and attempted to rape the girl whose screams echoed in the station to the utter shock of metro users.
Two eye-witnesses revealed to the prosecution that the girl kept screaming inside the office before she finally walked out with a torn garment that revealed her breasts. They also said that one of the two cops slapped her several times.
The young woman, who has not been identified, at first filed charges in a nearby police station but later withdrew her complaints.
Local media speculated that she may have done so under duress.
The Interior Ministry is still investigating the case.

See...she had to withdraw her complaint...un freakin believable...
She doesn't have a society that will support her standing up and facing her assailants...instead she'll be encouraged just to let it go...told it will bring more shame on her and people will have sympathy for those animal officers because, after all, they were just playing around and being men...God forbid she didn't have her hijab on right...then it will all be her fault..actually, she'll probably get blamed for approaching them with a question or even being out unescorted...
When will the ppl change?

Sick, isn`t it, humanist? Even girls think this way! If you are dressed decently, nothing will happen. May you have all the bad luck and bump into a lunatic, the police will catch him. End of story. I was so angry when I heard this! First because it doesn`t seem to come in their mind that NO man has the right to act against a woman`s will, and second because it isn`t just a mtter of the police will come and story is closed... They simply don`t realise how bad this is! Just like the men think "she askes for it" when they see a young girl without hijab. It`s disgusting and I wonder how this young people have been raised...

Yeah - word should have gone out by now that this is one of the biggest myths ever, I find it hard to understand that there are still people out there who are ignorant or brainwashed enough to believe this. You should have asked them why babies, children, old women and disabled people are raped then. Or how *dressing decently* will protect people from rape / sexual abuse in the family ...

Dalia, didn't you know that a girl is supposed to cover herself in front of her father and brothers when "she is grow?" Because, maybe if she doesn't they won't be able to control themselves and might have to just rape her? That attitude makes me want to puke. But we don't know why she isn't pressing charges. I think the police should take up the matter on their own and roast these guys, especially if they have eyewitnesses.

QB, I`ve heard about this, but is this average? I think when you let your sons grow up like this, they will be like a vulcano, ready to erupt, one big bunch of homones... Besides that,many can`t marry because they don`t have the money, meeting women is impossible, it isn`t strange that weird things happen... I`ve heard about the abusing devorced women, children, or unstable girls,but I thought it was something what has to do with civilisation...

This account is utterly sickening. That poor girl, screaming for help. What a nightmarish image. It's abusive men who have to learn how to modify their behaviour, not innocent women. Dressing extremely modestly doesn't protect women, as the YouTube video of women in full, traditional dress (which was posted on ES) highlights.

I think the Egyptian people getting more and more involved in problems within the society. Many times before people turned a blind eye on issues especially involving sexual harrassment. The latest developments are good signs into the right direction. Problems can't be ignored, they have to be addressed and solutions have to be found.
And I can only wish that Egyptian women getting more respect and rights granted from the men without being called cheap and worse. These people are way too narrow-minded.

i'm like i told you guys live in Cairo , but i want to say something ? in EGYPT the people who is eat in this kind of KFC resturants , are rich people , so this metro underground , so can any one tell me , how rich girl underground ask guys !!! this never happend because if you want to ask about address for thing you go first up stairs at the street and ask , and the girls rich in cairo didnt ask as a rondom guys , they look first at good looking and respect guys to ask , if that happen in METRO ?? also , no one ever can do RAPE in metro station , why ? because this station have over 2 millions rider and every stations have like 30 securty police , you know what ? even ciggeret you can't throwing it in the metro station , by the way i read this news in this page and call someone in my family in police ministery and he said :haha my be outside the metro but undergroun it's maybe IMPOSSIBLE !!!!

What does the KFC has to do with it? And why should "rich" girls avoid the metro? And I suppose good-looking guys are not abusive, eh? Perhaps your friend at the ministry had nothing better to say to cover up his colleagues? My God! I do not dare to think that a day may come when everyone will avoid contact with other people out of fear they may hurt him/her! You are basically stating that you don't believe this incident occurred and if it did she was asking for it?!!
