Finally someone is telling the truth!

I don't want to get too personal with NM but the fact that he finds my statement in this thread odd give me the impression that he has never had a girlfriend before!!

Sorry to hear you feel so fat and bloated... As others have said, consider it temporary, soon that weight will be out, you'll be back to normal, and until then, thankfully you have the empathy of others here in your condition, goodie!!!

Otherwise, just go with the flow - you know hormones do funny things to ladies at this time.. (And how is that for silly but well-meaning drivvel, sorry, I don't know what else to say of great cheer...).

Hang in there and all the best to you - oh, and perhaps you could eat only lettuce leaves when the hunger strikes you??? Other than the obvious non-weight-gain-thing, did you know that about 1,ooo heads of lettuce have the SAME effect on one as one Viagra pill??? HAHAHAHA... True, though - happy munching!!!

And to my dear Laura - no, no, I am not a doctoora, neither did I mean to give that impression... I am qualified as a counsellor, this was done for voluntary work I used to do back in London (for an AIDS organisation, many years ago). So I did practise this, however, only on an unpaid and voluntary basis, never as a full-time professional - so I don't like to call myself a counsellor, just said I had the training and then some experience.... JOB-wise I worked for lawyer's firms, first in London and then on the Red Sea, two totally different things...

Better point this out before I confuse anyone here terribly - besides, it would not do to mess up La Sono's files on me, we MUST have the correct details!!!!

Now if only I had posted yet whether or not I am a sugarmama, second or third wife, and how many Orfis I've signed in my time in Egypt, haha..... Aaah - are there any children??? And what was my religion again??? Well, never mind, I am positive La Sono shall tell me (that and more) soon....

Love to you ladies,
Bubble

PS. I am ONE Bubble - see, that is the name of my small, elegant Egyptian Siamese cat - just Bubble, not plural, cause she used to be bubbly in character - and *I* am her person, the bringer of food and TLC units, hence the nick..

Bubble, again, I am truly impressed by your genuine sweetness.

Thank you.

In the context of describing your weight loss struggle, you said that you had surgery.

What do you actually understand under the word surgery? LOL

And LOL at your quoting style!

Some of your posts are very funny, some are interesting but I find you very pre occupied with celebrity. Could be the pressure of being married to a plastic surgeon that makes you feel insecure about your weight but remember that young and vulnerable people read your posts.
Just look at the Milan catwalks to see what I mean.
Who cares what Heidi Klum looks like!

I love celebrity gossip. Not only because I just do, but because many patients come to us wanting JLo's butt, or Johnny Depp's hairline, (OMG once a guy wanted Micky Mouse's hairline. I swear!), so it would be handy to know how those people look like, don't you think?

And I have always been aware of my weight, even way before I met my husband. My worst nightmare is to grow fat. I don't care if this angers you.

And what if young and vulnerable people are reading this? Am I the only one in the whole wide web who mentions worrying about her weight? WE have a member here who is actually paying for a site that is starving her to death. Why is this not angering you then?

Yes I do look at Milan catwalks and those poor souls look miserable to me. What makes you think I want to be like them?

I just feel fat damn it!

And even though I have the option of surgery available on the spot, I have never considered getting rid of the extra fat with surgery, unlike the lady who you LOL with and respect her opinion so much about not being obsessed with looks. She's had surgery done in pursuit of beauty, so why don't you worry about the voices in her head that made her spend thousands of Pounds on such a trivial thing instead of charitable work?

"Er.. Take a good look in the mirror" and then talk!

I can think of a whole lot worse nightmares than getting fat but 'hey' we are all different, thank God.

Who was it that wrote about the fool who gave her kingdom away for a tub of macarona and lentils?
Da Vinci!! or was it The Chef? [Cool]

My lol was at Rumicraziluv thinking that I had called you 'rich bitch' ,when in fact you called yourself that ( it speaks volumes) and Mrs C was just pointing that out.
Then rumicraziluv realised her mistake.
You missed the sarcasm in Mrs C's post.
Obviously from your tone you have issues with Mrs C, that is your business not mine.

If you are sending your children to school on the money made from sad people who want Mickey Mouse hairlines then again that is your business.
Please carry on studying at celebrities, dont let me disturb you. Obviously it fills a void in your life.

""Er.. Take a good look in the mirror" and then talk!

No need! we appear to be poles apart.
Thankfully.

[Roll Eyes]

SWYS
Yes I dont disagree that women have weight issues.

But the factor here is she is pregnant! what does she expect?
to lose weight?
Doesn't her husband tell her how beautiful she looks pregnant?
Obviously not or she would be writing that thread instead of how fat she is!

What is this dumb comment? That story was about my cravings! What does this have to do with anything?

My conclusion of you mentioning this is that you've been a lurker for way too long, and you decided to join by copying and pasting some recipes. Therefore I think you're morbidly obese and obsessed with food. And you are upset that someone actually looks good while you don't.

I really dont know what to say to your comment about cancer it leaves me quite speechless. It appears that Mrs C has more restraint and class.

Suffice to say all your assumptions are wrong and you are now sounding so like Sono who makes it up as she goes along.

I wont waste any more of your precious time.
You can go back to your calorie counting and I wont disturb you further.
As for the recipes many came from my wife and I also cook.

I gained 70lbs with each of mine. I started out under 90 lbs. So man it was hard on me. I ate right too. So I don't know what the deal was.

I lost most of it each time. Never got all the way down to 85lbs, but........ well I look really healthy now. LOL [Wink]

I agree with chimps. I don't think I'm so great. But we all have something special about us. We all want to be the most beautiful woman in the world to our man. Thank God I finally have one who thinks that! [Big Grin] So that definately helps. But the real beauty is inside. (no pun intended lol) For me it was really hard to find anything that resembled beauty when I was pregnant. I felt like a whale. [Frown]

So hang in there ladies. [Wink] [Big Grin]

Oh...my last baby was came at 35 weeks. She was 6lbs 3 oz. She was huge in the level 3 nursery. LOL

Felt a little fat during pregnancy, but not horribly so. Gained a total of 13 pounds.

I just delivered. Lost about 22 pounds, unofficially, after weighing myself on the scale my skinny husband somehow broke. [Confused]

But I AM DEPRESSED about how big my stomach still is. And the angry c-section stitches across the belly; something I never thought would bug me. Did I also mention I came *out* of surgery with more stretch marks on my stomach than I went in with?

But the little baby is adorable. [Smile]

You said it before and I agree with you, we are worlds apart when it comes to defining class. Thankfully.

A foreign poster who posts all around the place thousands of remarks that are disrespectful of religion and culture of Egypt on an Egyptian board, and who is using is extremely sexually explicit so-called jokes in every occasion, feels like a malignant tumor to me. They spread uncontrollably causing irreversible damage and without respect of rules. Therefore I am not even sure what you understand under restraint!

But I apologize for using figure speech that is difficult for you to understand.

Here let me help you with some dictionary definitions:

can·cer /ˈkænsər/ 1. Pathology. a. a malignant and invasive growth or tumorb. any disease characterized by such growths.

2. any evil condition or thing that spreads destructively; blight.

A pernicious, spreading evil: A cancer of bigotry spread through the community.

The lack of English language skills among the native speakers on this board is such a disappointment!

quote:

Suffice to say all your assumptions are wrong and you are now sounding so like Sono who makes it up as she goes along.

You don't sound much better. I even thought you *are* Sono. And don't you ever mention Sono. Sono Rulez. You don't.

Your assumption are wrong too. The fact that you got angered and jumped into a fight with a pregnant woman complaining about her body image, while you left another poster get away with eating 700 calories a day without one comment, makes me doubt the seriousness of the whole discussion.

quote:
I wont waste any more of your precious time.

Thank you.

quote:
You can go back to your calorie counting and I wont disturb you further.

And you go back to your paranoia away from me. I never said I counted my calories being pregnant. I believe you are reflecting your anger about your friend who starved his daughter on me, which makes it your problem.

What is this daft monologue? You insist on shoving accusations about my lifestyle and when I mirror you, you get angry. Every assumption you made about me and my lifestyle was wrong. Even that story you mentioned of me craving for Koshari while pregnant proves your own point wrong. What a waste of time indeed!

quote:
As for the recipes many came from my wife and I also cook.
Many 'real men do'!

I'll also leave you for your need to mention the fact that you're a "real man".

And let me close my statement with a quote from my favorite American philosopher/"real man":

"You get your bitch ass back in the kitchen and make me some pie."

Lefty - CONGRATULATIONS!!! Are you home already? Thanks God you and the baby are okay.
I gained 18 lbs last time and was teeny tiny to begin with. If you looked at me from the back you couldn't tell I was preggers. Hahaha! But 13, yeah that's not much!
Back to the topic - Queen Latifah had a very publicized breast reduction surgery. Her chest was just way too huge. Then she combo-ed the benefits of the reduction, which makes most people look like they lost 25 lbs, with diet and tons of working out to have a big strong healthy body.
Its great to vibe on all the good feelings and bodaciousness of pregnancy, but I think one should "train" like they are going to the Olympics. In other words, the more exercise and strengthening and stretching you do, if you are allowed, the easier delivery will be and the faster you will bounce back. You will also feel so much better about your body as it goes through all the changes.
Go ahead, have a yoga baby!

Back to sanity planet. *phew*

QB, last pregnancy I had premature contractions at 27 weeks+5, and I had obligatory bed-rest for 10 weeks. My God was that time a nightmare! Sudden switching from an extremely active and stressful life to total void was really hard to cope with.

This time around I'm being extra careful of course. I hardly do any physical activity and I think *that* is the reason why I'm feeling down. I feel so much better after physical exertion. [Frown]

I have a yoga book and a pilates DVD, but I haven't been disciplined enough to do that stuff on regular basis. Your post motivates me though.

Thanks.

Hush or our necromantically involved real man will call you insane for feeling like a whale while pregnant!

God how I hate a male who butts into women's issues like a hedgehog in a condom factory!

Ya Sheba, I have been with my husband for more than half a decade and he still tells me I'm the most beautiful everyday (and I'm not). He even stares and wows when I get out of the shower (and God I hate that!!), but you know what I mean; it's me me me..

I keep telling him he's lying!! [Frown]

And I as a typical woman just keep asking for it. I was trying a new pair of maternity jeans on and I was like boohoo I'm fat. I'm so fat. Fat fat fat fat.. And then I turned and asked hubby what he thinks, and he was like: "Wow you're fat [Big Grin] ".

*avalanches and explosions and earthquakes and hurricanes and tsunamis all at once*

Do you know what it means in Arabic?

Girls - how about the boobs? For all of you with multi pregnancies, question: how did your boobs survive the pregnancy blowing and then all out after lactation period??? I was very young when I had my daughter, almost did not breast feed, but - it ruined my boobs significantly... Am I just unlucky or is it more common? [Frown]

Unfortunately it has a strong genetic factor to it, KM. Many women do have this problem and some opt for surgery if it bugs them too much (NM: [Razz] ). I personally nursed forever and still hardly noticed any change, while my friend Sh.F. told me once that her boobs became to resemble two socks with two eggs in them [Frown]

We often have patients who come with their hubbies and get correction surgeries as a present for successfully finishing the offspring production phase [Big Grin] . However, hubby doesn't operate those, but we refer them to another clinic that does. We do see the results though. Really excellent but there are scars left. Just wanted to add that hosbond does correction surgeries mostly for medical indications and is very cautious with patients who seek help for psychological reasons.

For breast correction surgeries, there are three options depending on the situation: 1/breast lift, 2/implants, 3/both.

Anyone with questions about this can PM me otherwise you will have a boobs chapter in Sono's file.

Breasts are created for breastfeeding, Smuck. That's a small sacrifice for seeing the baby grow healthier and more intelligent than the others.

They will droop with age anyway, so at least blaming breastfeeding would be an acceptable excuse. [Wink]

And I'm afraid you will go through lots of trouble breastfeeding ONLY becasue education around lactation is almost ZERO in Egypt. I mean even Egyptian women cannot get proper education about it, let alone a foreign person.

But that's a whole different story.

Of course you should. The baby can't get anything better than that. Mother milk beats any bottle milk 100times.

If for some reasons you have problems to breastfeed or you really don't like it - of course no one can force you.

I should get a book on breastfeeding or look online then, I mean if it's better for the baby then naturally that's what is most important, but I don't want to be droopin' (is that narcissistic or what?) [Big Grin]

Way past this age, but I will say, that if I was having a baby in Egypt, I would most certainly opt for breastfeeding.

Simply due to the fact of the ease and cleanliness factor. (aside from the obvious one of it being so much better for the baby)

Good luck Smuckers [Smile]

And Alf Alf Mabrook to Tream Lefty for her little bundle of joy [Smile]

But the little baby is adorable. [Smile]

At first, Tream Lefty, CONGRATULATIONS for your baby boy! Obviously everything went fine, you are doing wonderfuland and so is the healthy baby! [Smile] [Smile] [Wink]

I am a little confused that you described that you have c-section stiches across your belly?

This kind of operation is not done anymore these days, my mom has a huge scar still from her c-section on the stomach when she delivered me in 1974.

I had so far four c-sections and everytime they cut just above the pubic area. It really doesn't look bad; it's not big either.

And about the the stretchmarks: Well you start really seeing them all once the baby is 'out'.

But don't worry about your stretchmarks and your belly for right now, the swelling will go down, the uterus will shrink etc.

Make sure you don't do any sports for the next following weeks incl. drastic homework or heavy carrying.

Congratulations again!!! All the best for your little family!!! [Smile]

Thanks so much MK - I agree with you about the genetic factor in the droopin' department. In that case correctional surgery seems to be the only option. I don't think changing post-preg body is only a woman's psychological issue: the husband is equally affected from the aesthetical point of view. On one hand he is a crazy happy to be a father but on the second one in most cases his wife's body will never be the same... And then he looks at the fallen women dancing with their bellies and the galloping depression case is ready! [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Tiger - My mom also had a c-section from up to down and it lookded scary... Maybe it depends on the doctor and medical state of patient du jour?? I thought above pubic hair area is the one to cut these days, but I am not an expert...

Talking about C-sections.

What is the preferred method in Egypt, Spinal Block or General Anethesia? Or is it all dependant on what the mom-to-be wants?

I had that type of incision because I was a full placenta previa, which ruptured. I think this is the only type of incision they can make for this condition. (Scariest time of my life)!

You're very welcome.

And you have a point mentioning the male feelings about the whole process. You see, I hate hate hate hate hate men who complain to others that their wives' physiques have never been the same since the kids, but I still think women should exert some effort to get back in shape.

Most women in Egypt become post-natal titanic penguins because of the cultural restraints on women doing sports. Really a shame. Because men complain about their wives' figures and still won't let them go out and do something about it!

That's one important indication to it. I'm sorry you had to go through that Laura.

You also have women who have anterior wall myomas or other types of tumors (on the front side of the uterus), that require this type of incision, or or in certain emergency situations, if the baby is in the transverse position or breech and very premature.

You should read about it for sure, but you will need a one-on-one supervision as soon as you deliver. Maybe you can find a lactation consultant in Cairo, but not in Shebin. Have you ever thought of delivering in Cairo? It's really way better than Shebin, Smuck.

Depends on the hospital and the patients' choices (in "commercial" hospitals!).

I've thought about it but a normal drive is roughly 45 minutes - that's not in traffic and if I'm in labor.. [Frown]

Yes I agree that's an issue, especially that I never trust Cairo's traffic. If a VIP like President Bush or King Kong would be visiting that day then I'm sure it will take you half the day to reach the hospital.

It takes longer than an hour though between the first signs of labor until the baby is there.

Good luck anyway. Let me know if I can do anything.

My hospital was 45 minutes to an hour away from my house -- with no traffic. It worked out fine, thank God. But I ended up with a scheduled c-section and was lucky enough not to go into labor before that. Perhaps you could do something like me -- find the hospital where you want to deliver, plan for that, but have a back-up hospital close to your house.

Oh, but did I mention I was scheduled on the one day there was an ice storm? We had to drive to the hospital at 5:30 in the morning, before any roads had been plowed. The doctor, who was 5 or 6 months pregnant herself, got stuck in the snow and had to dig herself out. She was late, my surgery was late. Interesting day. [Wink]

Yeah, actually it's a *classic C-section* with a vertical cut, about 6 inches from belly button down. And they actually cut an inverted T to be precise. [Frown]

I had a HUGE 17 cm ovarian cyst removed right after the baby was born, which was the reason for the odd cut. I was set to go regular delivery, but at the last minute they changed their minds.
