the best friend that I have ever had and still have is my grandmother. she and my grandfather raised me. when my grandfather passed away when I was sixteen I began taking care of her. I took care of her while I worked and went to college. when I got into graduate school here in New York (my life long dream) I sadly had to leave her. she is now being taken care of by my aunt. I miss her so much it hurts. I hate living so far away from her and only being able to see her a couple times a year. I talk to her at least once every single day. I can tell her anything and I love hearing her talk. she has 80 plus years of amazing life to tell me about and I am very lucky to have such a fascinating strong women in my life to look up to. everything about her is special.

My best friend up until my guy. Was my great Aunt Sue. She passed away 6 yrs ago. Was 84 when she did. She was the coolest person.
She had the most full and interesting life. Lived all over the US. But mostly lived in Califirnia and Nevada. Her husband, before he retired was a chueffer for the stars in Hollywood. All this was back in the 40', 50's. The memorabilia she had was awesome.
After he retired, they moved to Vegas. She was a waitress in several casinos. He would gamble. He was a professional gambler. Once in the 70's he won a lot of cash and a $50,000 Winnebago. It was like WOW. That was so cool. So then they started traveling by RV. All of us kids loved it when they came. Oh BTW.....he was banned from every casino in Nevada. Seems they don't like you to win too much. No he didn't cheat. Just good. So was she. We had many fun poker games with matches and pennies. LOL
This lady was the sweetest of the sweet. Was like the perfect grandma, mother, sister, friend, aunt, and just really cool person. All wrapped up into one.
She always nurtured us. Took time for us and really listened. No matter what she was always there. But put us in our place too. She was always happy. The kind of person that just made everyone around feel good about themselves.
She was strong, funny, kind, respectful.........I could never think of all the words to describe her.
But I will remember her, and treasure her always.

My grandfather, truly one of the greatest men I have ever known, next to my father. He was a special person who could be counted on to say the right thing and advocated the value of hard work. He always said to me "Plan your work and work your plan, success is NOT an accident." I miss him every day.
