What would you do if you were the target of a bunch of spinsters' daily harassment ?!

How many spinsters do we have in Egypt by now ?!

What are the most probable reasons to make an Egy gurl become a one ?!

Also in Europe we have a lot of single men and women, and trendwatchers have predicted that this only will rise.
On average everybody should have ± 3 serious relationships during their life, and because of the way people are used to live today ( and in the future) this will not be the kind of relationships their parents and grandparents have had.
As soon as people are starting a relationship, there are high expectations and demands, on both sides. They want a house, two cars, and at least two holidays a year, regular outdoor dinners, sportingclubs for the kids, flatscreens, exclusive kitchens and bathrooms, expensive clothes etc.
As soon as the neighbour bought a new car, they want to have one too, preferable a little bit more expensive.
Men AND women have to have a job, because otherwise they can`t effort this lifestyle.
So, don`t talk to me about the material Egyptian girls...
In Egypt there is a kind of crooked proportion between what they should like to get, and what they can get, as it also is in Europe, but in another way.
If you are a target and you don`t want to be a target, just place a sign NON AVAILABLE on your shirt...

An Egyptian uncle once remarked me that you will be treated in the way you you seem to look like to other people. It doesnt necesarrely have to be the way you are in real, but the attitude you have. He warned me because I seemed to be open to people with the bad eye. I think he meant to say that I was to open, to honest, and he named it a natural personality. That wouldnt be the good way to behave in Egypt, so I had to take more distance, place a wall behind me and the others around. It was an old uncle, and I had to consider him as wiser, specially because he is Egyptian. (I thought it was sweet to be that concerned.) Anyway, maybe there is something wrong with the way your attitude against spinsters...

I am not engaged, I do wear that ring to keep them away, they look and sound like they have sworn to cut me into pieces, some how I represent to them those single boys with no least care about the dark future awaiting the old unmarried egy ladies .... so they have me in mind ... some how like ????? just said, may be it is the way I act around, some how I tease them and help their nightmares rise ... even Sonomod has foreseen it ... she told me one day, I am an urbain educated single man and somehow they consider me a part of their heritage or something like that, they think they do own the natural right to get me or hardly punish me for escaping if I manage to .... I have not so nice memories myself about certain Egyptian women. They were staring and trying to flirt with my ex even in my presence. No values! [Mad]

Yes, it's absolutely true. In public areas, some Egyptian women looked sharply to mine while they knew I was beside him (or was I just a statue? [Mad] , they never thought about other woman's feeling).

The funny thing is, if your Egyptian guy is decent they will find this outright staring and flirting cheap and won't care. Sure anybody appreciates (and is perhaps flattered by) a little attention by the opposite sex, but in general this is how they might feel.

I remember in the states once a man was with his wife or girlfriend and was STARING AT ME so hard I thought he was burning a hole through my head, he was smiling and would lift his eyebrows, I kept looking at him in a confused way. All I could think was, 'are you crazy? You think anybody would be interested in your flirting ways while you're with another girl? Like I want to look like Idiot Number Two one day'. [Roll Eyes]

Yeah but you know Smuckers many times Egyptian women are jealous of the fact that a man of their own country chose a foreign woman over a local woman. They don't understand simply can't deal with it.

I don't think it's a matter of jealousy Tiger.
It's more like a matter of desperation expressed with a passionate self destructive attitude [Wink] .

Check out other countries, like Spain, and Italy and Portugal, and Brazil etc... and you will find the same attitude from desperate women, and men too in many cases!

Well, if I see a middleaged (fat, chanceless, desperate) Western man with a young Thai/Russian girlfriend or wife at his side, I also have an opinion in my head, and this might be visable on my face. While it still could be simply love...

Geesh whatever happened to lowering the gaze? My husband never looks a woman in the eye unless he really knows her. He was just brought up not to do that.

To all reading this topic warning you in advance its a long post so you may wish to move on!

FAO maxman ... I DO LOVE UK! & get home-sick from time to time. I was born & Lived in UK for most of my life also.. Just having a grumble as you were! It is a beautiful Country and the people are not cold as some would say. People are so busy rushing to and from work often in cold wet weather they dont have time to stop and socialise.

The majority of people in UK work so hard and although to foreigners the wages look v.good, the cost of living is very high. Re: The TV License.. friends here could not believe you have to pay a license fee to allow you to switch on.

On a recent 3 month stay in the UK we found the refuse collection was being reduced to once a fortnight.. Our bin was full on the day we left but as we had sold our car could not take the rubbish to the tip (& burning rubbish is frowned upon). A few weeks later I received an email from the Rental Agent informing me that they had deducted 50 GBP from our rental deposit as they had new tenants arriving before the refuge collectors, so had to pay someone to take the rubbish! Maxman its things like this in Uk that galls me. You pay a monthly fee of between 80 to 200 GBP depending on house value (Council Tax)This is to cover, lighting, police refuge collection and other public services. Everything is such a hassle and involves lots of cash, and so much paperwork.

In Egypt you may see alot of rubbish but generally its either burned or enterprising people collect various, items, tin glass cardboard to sell for recycling - Everything in Egypt is re-used.

Yes, Egypt is a 3rd world Country with so much hardship & poverty - There may be some (whether they rich or poor) ready to take advantage, but, people can beg, scam or rob from you anywhere in the world.

In UK we have Gov. agencies willing to help the less fortunate - In Egypt financial assistance (if any) is minimal. In Egypt I see a willingness to help others without gain - especially in the non tourist areas I have found Families live by traditional family values, there's kindness, generosity and people who would give you their last crust.

I was in a road traffic accident here 2 years ago it was horrendous and out in the sticks..
a notorious area for accidents. Our driver swerved to avoid someone crossing the road early morn (and it was foggy)Our car was a write off, driver hurt more than we were.. then followed another two cars and lorry that crashed to avoid our car. The huge lorry smashed onto the embankment knocking elec posts and a few trees. From out of nowhere people came to our aid. Took us into their homes by the fire, made tea etc., A few hours later we heard that all involved were miraculously not seriously hurt.. The locals got a tractor, dragged the lorry into an upright position, fixed the posts and went on their merry way. Of course in the UK there would be police ambulance fire service etc., but here in Egypt people have to look out for each other. I admire the way people here will do anything for anyone. I just think people here have a more relaxed attitude, and despite poverty, & their simplistic lives I see kindness and compassion.

Maxman I think you have had a bad experience in Egypt which is sad but many foreigners love and embrace the people and their culture.

Dear Marmia,
I grew up in subsaharan africa which was more poor than egypt and more backward, now Egypt is worse off than some african countries,i dont know whom to blame as Egypt is my country of birth and i love the place so much that it hurts me to see the widespread poverty and backwardsness of the majority of the population.Speaking of looking after each other, well maybe you should come with me when i travel to Africa then you may even fall in love with the people there, their kindness and compassion is beyond terminology, thx

Maxman

Positive changes are happening but too few and they take time. I know many people who are working to help others. My young niece has just returned from Ghana were she was very hands on helping to build a school and she's only 17 and has also taken disabled and mentally ill on holiday. She is studying to be a doctor and hopes to return to help others in 3rd world countries. Sometimes you tend to find apathy amongst folk.. They may see people suffering in poverty and say Ahhh what a shame.. but then they dont try to do anything. They say. "Im only one person.. what can I do" but one person can make a difference. Even a in a small way they can do something. Think Im on the wrong topic for this subject... just wanted to express my feelings. Lets keep hoping "HOPE" never dies!
