Can anyone help? Any suggestions please. We are not in Egypt now & wont be for sometime. We just discovered our lawyer there has had some "problems" with locals and has closed his business & run off. He has changed his phone number too. Up until now we have not had any bad reports about him, except he is oh so slow. Problem is he has all our house and land papers & we still have a legal issue to sort out. He just did a bunk. We tried tracking him but failed. Anyone have any ideas how we might track him, or what we can do to get our papers back? This is 4 years of work gone.

Oh man, that sounds bad! I am not sure if they have private investigators in Egypt; perhaps you can ask someone to privately find this guy. Is it possible he also left Egypt?

He cant leave, & as his problem is with "dangerous" people - he will be well hidden & hard to find - we tried hard already. As we understand it, we cant get another lawyer until we can both be present at the registry to cancel his power of attorny, and make a paper for a new one. This is impossible right now for us, and if we cant get our papers back, we have to start the whole process again.

if you go to the Egyptian Embassy or consulate where you are now...you can easy make a new power of attorney to another lawyer..or legal firm . check this link http://www.skyline-group.com/General%20services.htm we can help you there..if you want

Thank you for your replies everyone.Especially about going to the Egyptian embassy. I dont want to say exactly where he was, but Sinai region. He claimed to be registered with European Legal protection group, but that looks wrong now. He looked "the business", smart office, smart suits, new car, middle aged, recoomended to us by police chief! just before he ran he asked us to send him original land contract and full power of attorney! ha ha - at least we didnt fall for that one.
