They sell them in the United states. I hadn't taken it seriously until someone mentioned that here in Egypt the chlorine in the shower head causes people's hair to fall out. i don't know if that's true or not. I haven't had a problem yet. Here in Alexandria i keep hearing there is no such thing in Egypt which probably means that that particular shop doesn't have it.

Dry it out, but not fall out. Swimming pools everywhere in the world use high amounts of chlorine. Also a charcoal filter only gets rid of the chlorine smell/taste, almost all of the cheap water filters on the market are simple charcoal filters.
Reverse Osmosis or distillation (or long exposure to direct sunlight) are about the only ways to actually remove the chlorine from the water.
I would worry more about ingesting it than getting it in my hair.

Hi Zaphirlee. I knew there was something I wanted to ask about and your post reminded me ! I am also looking for these little disc shaped filters to pop in my shower head. My hair hates the water and my skin is itching like mad every time I have a shower.
Does anyone know why people's hair falls out prematurely in Egypt ? I always had really thick, healthy hair but now I am losing it and I'm not happy.
