that you can out a lawsuit against a message board for deleting your posts??

its called denial of the freedom of speech AND discrimination on a PUBLIC forum...he thinks this is a personal forum he can pick thru as he pleases. all they have to do is go thru and see all the other posts and topics here that have been left up that are very bad and then he will get fined.
guess you gonna be up really late tonight homie you know, combing thru all the messageboard to delete this stuff.

i did my homework and if the moderator is deleting posts that aren't going against the terms of use (which most arent) you can file a class action lawsuit and have the forum shut down.

amr is having too much fun on here and he dont even know what hes gettin himself into.

Folks please keep in mind this (and just about any other) forum is privately owned (and provided to you for free), thus any "user" is bound by the owners policies. Those policies (rules) we're agreed to when you registered your username [Wink] So freedom of speech doesn't really apply here as it's not owned by a public municipality guaranteeing such a right.

Just my 2 cents for what it's worth [Cool]

Here's the terms and conditions supplied when registering (emphasis added):

Rules, Policies, and Disclaimers
If you agree to abide by our rules below, please press the Agree button, which will enable you to register on this message board. If you do not agree to these terms, press the Cancel button.

Please remember that we do not actively monitor the contents of posted messages and are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this BB or any entity associated with this BB. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this BB to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. Even in the Freedom of speech act there is section discussing obscenity and vulgarity.

What may seem run of the mill conversations to some of you others find highly offensive. This is a forum about Egypt and frankly some people should be ashamed of their language and general behaviour. Laughably, if you act like children then you shall be treated like chidren.

Thankfully, we have a mod that takes porn, deviance and obscenities, be they the written word or as an image, to be worthy of being deleted.

And as the disclaimer states... BB reserve the right to delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_forum

An Internet forum is a web application for holding discussions and posting user-generated content.[1][2] Internet forums are also commonly referred to as Web forums, newsgroups, message boards, discussion boards, (electronic) discussion groups, discussion forums, bulletin boards, fora (the Latin plural) or simply forums.[citation needed] The terms "forum" and "board" may refer to the entire community or to a specific sub-forum dealing with a distinct topic. Messages within these sub-forums are then displayed either in chronological order or as threaded discussions. In many cases a gateway allows access to the same data via an HTTP or an NNTP interface.

Such forums perform a function similar to that of dial-up bulletin board systems that were common from the late 1970s to the 1990s. Early web-based forums date back as far as 1996. A sense of virtual community often develops around forums that have regular users. Technology, computer games and/or video games, sports, fashion, religion, and politics are popular areas for forum themes, but there are forums for a huge number of topics. Internet slang and image macros popular across the internet are abundant and widely used in internet forums.

How does a person or a group own a piece of the internet?

Is it possible?

80% of the internet backbone world wide was installed and maintained by the US government or US Telecoms.

There are parts of Europe in which the internet backbone is attached to ISDN lines and those were not installed privately.

How does buying a domain name and paying a webhosting company each year/month constitute ownership?

Do website owners and webhosters also own part of the internet backbone?

Keep in mind all the telecoms in the world couldn't replicate the internet backbone nor adequately pay to own the backbone.

Currently the internet backbone is maintained, serviced and governed by various governments. Telecoms and utilities just extend the bandwidth of the backbone to businesses, municipalities and private residences.

But no owning a domain name and either hosting the webserver yourself or paying a web hoster to do it for you doesn't mean you own a piece of the internet.

"Defend net neutrality" would like to take it a step further which will make the internet more secure and safe but the people don't want that do they?!?

This is slanderous, threatening and hostile statement to make TL.

I can say this in regard to the frequency of such statements:

Tiger hate site:www.egyptsearch.com
29 results from google

Sonomod hate site:www.egyptsearch.com
18 results from google

Of course this will change and search engines are random. I wish ES had its own search engine enabled because then you could decifer how many times an username used the word "hate" in a post or thread.

But then again that's why the ES search engine is disabled.

Don't twist the facts, Sonomod. It was YOU who has been banned from this site numerous times in the past few years while I am still working from my first account which I opened 4.5 years ago.

And let me just tell you again so you are able to fully comprehend it this time:

NO ONE wants anything to do with you here.

For me this conversation is finished.

LOL. The "internet" is more than just a network. You could start by researching intellectual property rights. That's just one facet of many in the legalities of the internet.

... or was you just provoking a response for stealth background info on any who would reply? [Razz]

No I was being serious.

WIPO is not for internet forums.

The internet real estate and lease of a portion of a webserver falls under business contract not intellectual property rights.

Take for instance a pair of dinners are having a quiet converstion about the next election. Its a biastro in which most of its customer base are liberals and the pair is discussing their support of a conservative candidate. The conservative diners are forced to leave and thrown out on their ear.

Since it is a business establishment, a service, the biastro leases the resturant; the biastro is out of line.

Internet forums are not patents being infringed upon, not stolen music & movies, its not reprinting entire copyrighted book.

my 2 cents-
Please note those of you fighting so bravely for free speech, my opionion may differ from YOURS.

at other filthy sites you have to click that you are over 18, and want to see whats ahead, so that you can avoid it if you wish.

This is not a XXX site, most of us here are not in the least interested in visiting XXX sites, and are not required to click any disclaimer that we are A) old enough and B) really and truly actually want to see it.

There are plenty of other place on the net for "dirty talk". I don't see why a forum about Egypt is in any way obligated to tolerate it.

Honestly CF - didn't you pay attention in school?

Its like this - if that glass there represents A and that glass there represents B, let the salt & pepper pots be C and D. Move the salt pot over to A so A and C are now talking. The knife and fork now represent E, F and G - I guess G better be the spoon. E F and G are 'cutlery' but A and B are 'glass'. Now, depending on the bistro, C and D might be metal - so a bit like cutlery or they might be glass so a bit like A and B.
So depending on that, the stuff on the table will be more cutlery so you have to chuck out A and B leaving only C D E F G behind, or more like glass (assuming there's a glass jug - H say), in which case you have to chuck the cutlery in the bin and then eat using your fingers.
Now, if A+B is more than D + E, then, by Pythagoras, F+G squared is less than {A+B} squared - {D+E} squared
So, if I then differentiate that lot d(cutlery) / d(glass) and calculate the point at which the gradient is zero, I can find out at what point I have either a maximum or minimum amount of plastic cutlery on the table!

QED

Obvious when you know how - that's why I got a PhD [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

When western women discuss intimacy and sex on this site, a majority of Egyptians, Arabs in general, view it as XXX rated. I am not just refering to MD comments.

Discussions of intimacy and sex is done behind close doors, the internet is an electronic version of discussing issues and experiences on the street.

ES is a public board.

There are boards that are private and require a secure login, a VPN connection. That would be the equivilant of having intimate discussions in a flat with open windows in a crowded neighborhood and with the doors open.

The internet was designed to be open.

Heck most of the bulletin board and forum software is freeware, the owners of the domain name (which they must renew "buy again" every year, every 2 years, every 4 years) use freeware to setup the board/forum can't possibly own free software.

Which is why, based on principle, the organizations who offer bulletin board and forum software, though its patented, won't charge a price, thus its freeware and cannot be owned.
