Where are the old members of ES. I think we have thousands of members who were so active and effective here a few years ago and nowadays there are just readers..are you dissatisfied on the new conversation way or the way new colonists' think? You have to be back to your contributions again to make ES more interesting as before even if through making a new group for old members through some topics..who can share?

Many old members left as the holes in the back got too much, some are still here but the new mod doesnt like them so deletes them. As for making ES more interesting what do you mean?? surely how cold it is is interesting enough and if not there are still the usual 'young man run off with my disabled mum' stories to keep you on the edge of your seat

I have never understood why ES mods have allowed this board to be destroyed by one member alone, and stood by and allowed the backstabbing of good, decent members.
I have no problem with any of the comments of 'new colonists' they are as welcome as any old member but until this board bans the one member that makes this a sad and sick place there is absolutely no point in old members contributing anything worthwhile.

They are not able to block somebody who insists to come and destroy it here...It's a cat and mouse-game, but in the end, nobody can't be blocked totally, because there are too many ways to enter a board. It's not about the management, it is about the members...
When a self-regulating society has a member that behaves unacceptable, they will outcast that member. But here, still enough is 'feeded', to make the outcast stay and influence this society.
Ignoring is the only things that works...

Actually when I first knew ES it looked like one of the best places to come when I need to talk to someone and I got some of my best friends from here..Same to most members at that time..what I feel now is that alot of members here come to kill their time and find their enjoyment in insulting and satiring from others..we were meeting regularly..really beautiful memories..now I have some doubt if I could find more friends from ES. What I aim behind this thread is to hear from old members and let them talk and of course we have good new members who can share...parasites can't be eliminated completely but we can eliminate their negative effects.

I always enjoy seeing posts from long time members, they are a wealth of info and experiences. There are still many wonderful people on this forum and I have made a few good friends. I do miss citizen and would like to see expat post more often.

If Sammy really wanted to change the "tone" of this forum he would assign 3 moderators for the most active forums. Moderators who were not "socially related".
Then let majority rule on the actions taken here, at least 2 must agree to deletions, etc. It would also not take up too much time of any one persons time. Maybe some real moderation would take place, profanity edited out, threads moved, locked, pinned, advertising spam gone, etc.
Just my dimes worth

Yes, Ayisha would be a possible good moderator... she would immediately delete the Gucci shoes threads and rumours say her sympathy can be bought with Warburtons bakery snacks. Just kidding . I think moderation of a forum is a difficult task. More moderators could be a good solution but suppose they don't agree on what-to-delete. Then things would even get crazier.

I can live with crazy but its not acceptable when members personal lives are dragged into the forum and computers are hacked to dig for personal information. That is the reason why people leave here in disgust because lets face it this forum is truly disgusting sometimes and has proved time and time again it DOES need moderation.

I have been here for a few years and still post here and there but it's increasingly difficult to bring up this forum at work when there's so many swear words (and wicked vulgar ones at that!) on here. I'm far from a prude but when there's a chance that my boss could be reading over my shoulder I tend to opt on the safe side and go to other sites.
One thing I do wish is that there were a section for actual Egyptians, maybe in Arabic, I dunno. It'd be nice for my husband to be able to chat on here with other Egyptians living in the US to share experiences. Don't know if he'd actually do it since he's not much for this type of thing but at least if it were there he'd have the option. I hate that there are very few actual Egyptians here.

Well said Penny and that is what it comes down to. This has been happening frequently and I also find it totally unacceptable.
I think that the moderation is getting better as they try to get a handle on it. Everyone is not going to be happy but I find that comes with having a forum moderated and it just has to be accepted . I might not always like it or agree with it either but I'd rather have it moderated than have it be what is was..

I already offered a very workable solution in my previous post.

" socially related ".
.
Why is that a problem? If you assign someone that you think is fair, how is that going to effect their judgement? For example, I think Ayisha is fair, she might not even delete posts that are direct insult to her but if lets say I go to have a coffee with Ayisha she can’t be a moderator anymore because she socialised with one of the posters? It does not make sense, I agree some can be bias but if you chose someone, it does not really matter if they socialise or not.

imo its a moot point ,the only person or persons who will appoint a moderator is sammy etc. anyone can volunteer but no one will be acceptable to all members so if the owner appoints one then there is no argument . accept or not

I have been a member for three years, I'm not a golden oldie on here but it was crazy then, and crazy now, no difference whatsoever, except now there is moderation. I don't have any complaints with the new moderation so far.

I see that the thread has been changed from a way to let old members be back to the forum into a moderation problem. I think if we summarize the problem into a moderation issue then we seek the solution from others while we could solve it ourselves. I think that if we ignore those whose posts are not acceptable they will get bored and leave the forum as they feel winners when they get replies to their provoking posts. Why not have a filter eye when we read and reply to mails. Let's concentrate on seeing the full half of the glass as we don't need the empty half.

That's false. Sammy is not all that bright, too busy or just does not care. But it's quite easy.
I'm not sure if people just tend to forget or don't pay attention. Sammy made it clear he's not running the forum for your own benefit or entertainment. It s about money and anyone who is not happy with the forum can leave.
Amr is too immature to realize that he is biased and may I say corrupt. But again, that is not in any way unusual on forums or real life.
This is as good as it gets and let's face it, "it's only a forum".

NOT false. There are millions of free proxies and everybody is able to login by one of these.

I don't have time to argue but it is quite easy. And your point about free proxies is the easiest of them all. You write a script to check for open proxy and prevent them from registering. Bingo.
