A simple question here- why do egyptologists continue to utilize the GREEK terminology when they speak of AE ?

Names of the AE gods,Kings are known yet the GREEK names are being used..
Never heard of a "scientific discipline"(egyptology)where its members willingfully use the wrong terminology and make no apologies for it..

I am amazed that no efforts seem to be made to start using the terms the AE employed themselves..

Maybe a "pc" campaign of political correctedness" is needed here..

Many indigeneous people reverted to their own native names(like the Inuit(aka the Eskimos)-it was a deragotory term used by many natives in contact with them- meaning flesh eaters..

And if I recall correctly even China, more than a decade ago, told Westerners to start using the correct Chinese pronounciation so it was exeunt PEKIN and enter BEIJING.

Also any specific books out there by egyptologists,etc.. where the real AE names are listed for the different Gods,Kings of the various Dynasties, geographical names ,etc...

A sort of a compendium where one could quickly find the original AE name besides the "give" Greek name,etc..and breif expalantiosn as to its origin..

They should first start by abolishing the the name Egypt and simply call it Kemet when talking about pre and early dynastic times.

More Egyptologist are starting to use more ancient Kemetian place names in the place of Arabic and Greek ones. One example is a recent publication by an Egyptologist named Robert Morkot The Egyptians.

There is a book published in 1980 entitled The Atlas of Ancient Egypt by John Baines and Malek that gives the correct place names in Greek,Arabic and ancient Kemetian.

^^Ausar is correct. In fact, ALL of the reference materials on ancient Kemet use the actual native names.

Khafra, instead of 'Chephren'.

Djehuti, instead of 'Thoth'.

Waset, instead of 'Thebes'.

etc.
