What hotel are you staying in? Some of the 4*/5* places have a New Year's package built in that you have to pay for whether or not you plan to attend.

nice idea: marriot-boat in zamalek u pay and get some shows, whole menu and its cruisin on the nile, i havent tried it but heard about it!

Unfortunately no. New year's night is no big thing here. As others pointed out, the bigger hotels and clubs have New Year's parties, most of them have to be booked in advance and are quite expensive.
The only large public celebration for a New Year's night I know of was 1999 / 2000 at the pyramids. It was a great event, btw, very impressing, but I noticed that the majority of those attending were foreigners. Posted by ShootingStar (Member # 9470) on :
