Its not only found in Orientals but certain Nigerians,Kenyans,Malians,Angolans,South Africans, and Sudanese have epicanthic folds around their eyes.

C'mon bro post pictures, an excerpt from a secondary source or blogger. Or at the very least formulate and ask a well thought out question. Make the thread worth posting.

Are you inquiring about it's evolutionary origin? A good start to that would be to find links in genetics or environmental stimuli in the aforementioned groups.

Is there really a genetic or environmental basis for epicathic folds as its found on various groups that inhabit all sorts of climates.

I didn't put types in the Pacific or south Asia as they between African like and stereotypical east Asia also I purposely chose dark skin to show how color when applied to certain phenotypes reduces the overall difference.

Does she qualify?

I think it could be an evolutionary alternative to pronounced brow ridges for blocking out dust or sunlight. Most of the groups that have them don't live in particularly forested areas I've noticed.

Epicanthic folds appear in East Asians, Southeast Asians, Central Asians, North Asians, some South Asians, Polynesians, Micronesians, Indigenous Americans (as well as Mestizos), the Khoisan, Malagasy, occasionally Europeans (e.g., Scandinavians, Hungarians, Samis, Irish and Poles) and among Nilotes.

Epicanthal folds are oblique or vertical folds from the upper or lower eyelids towards the medial canthus. Usually bilateral, they may involve both the upper and lower eyelids. These folds are caused by excessive development of the skin across the bridge of the nose.

There are 4 types of epicanthus:

a) Epicanthus superciliaris: fold originates from the brow and follows down to the lacrimal sac
b) Epicanthus palpebralis: involves both upper and lower eyelids
c) Epicanthus tarsalis: fold most prominent along upper eyelid
d) Epicanthus inversus: most prominent along lower eyelid

That doesn't help in explaining the epicanthic folds function only its variation.

@itoli what about the native that do live in the forest of the Americas that still have the fold?

you assume that it has a function that is different

No,I think epicathic folds are just a look with no negative or positive attributes.

American natives are relatively recently derived from a cold adapted East Asian population, the majority of their features still reflect that.

Either epicanthic folds or protruding brows are common amongst open-land-descendant peoples. Forest-descendant peoples have round eyes. Exceptions indicate evolutionarily recent moves, like Dayaks of Borneo, Amazonians etc.

Africans being the oldest humans on the planet have the most physical diversity so there are a lot of different "features" found in Africans that can be found in other populations.

We kinda have touched on this before but now there are a lot more folks in many places saying similar things.
