Hello hieroglyph buffs!
I need your help again.

I've read that Khufu's Horus name is Medjedu. What does this translate as?

Also, I read that Khufu full birth name is 'Khnum-Khufwy', meaning ..

a) 'Khnum Protects Me'
b) 'May Khnum Protect Me'
or
c) 'Protected by Khnum'.

Which one is right?

And can you give me a breakdown of Khufwy? ie how does it translate to 'Protects me' etc?

Is that too much to ask?
Hoping you can help.

Cheers,

Now, this is my opinion, but the hieroglyphs for Medjedu could suggest something to the effect of "enduring burden" [possibly of carrying on what Ausar set out to do as ruler of the land, but in the form of successive pharaohs] or perhaps "enduring strength" [presumably in the face of overwhelming odds or obstacles]. I know that Djed is implicated, which is associated with Ausar, whose rebirth has been characterized as symbolic of "eternity". The "Me" in "Medjedu" seems to actually be a term that is partially abbreviated in the composite translated word of "Medjedu", since it is supposed to be represented by Gardiner's Aa24 sign, which reads "Mdd", and then, as just noted, "Djd" is its own term. There is plurality invoked here, as denoted by "u". I take it that its purpose here is to invoke as sense of 'magnitude' to whatever the meaning of "Medjedu" is.

As for "Khnum-Khufu", the key lies in the hieroglyphs associated. What do we know about these ensemble, such that "protect" has to be invoked [presumably in the term "Khufu"]?
