I love Rock, like I love hip hop/rap, pop, R&B, heavy metal, dance hall and reggae. Basically I like any type of music(except country). Most of those types of music listed in some way shape or form was influenced by people of African descent. But right now we're going to only focus on Rock and Roll. It seems people of African descent(for the most part) have completely forgotten about Rock and and their huge part in it and how they invented it.
Also I just want to add that a lot of people tend to have this ignorant misconception that just because there's not a heavy percussion based polyrhythmic aspect in North American African-American music, that it's not African, but European influenced, which isn't true in the slightest. Africa is a HUGE continent, in which there's not only one type of music cluster or style. The majority of our musical influences comes from the Upper West African Sahel & Sudanic savanna regions of Africa which utilizes a lot more simplistic cross-beat rhythm(which gives American music it's swing-feel) to accentuate the highly melosmatic wind and string instruments with a booming vocal/instrument harmony- All aspects of African-American music. While Afro-Cubans take the majority of their influence from Lower West African and Central African bantu music which IS very polyrhythmic & percussion based.
PH.d ethnomusicologist Gerhard Kubik, who is himself a European and Moya Aliya Malamusi a continental African, both had this to say about the Mississippi Delta blues(the purest form of blues music).....
"I have had difficulty detecting any significant European musical components in this style, aside from the use of Western factory-manufactured equipment."
Now not denying some European influence, but the African influence overshadowed the European influence.
Now onto the Guitar and string instruments. Many people have a misconception that string type instruments were not found in Africa and did not make its way into the new world. A certain someone(will not mention that someones name) from another site pretended that Africans never had string instruments of their own, and that Europeans influenced them by that way and the chords of blues/rock is of European origins. What that person doesn't know is that the Banjo itself is of European orgins and Blues has always been in Africa mainly upper West Africa.
We already know Africans had string instruments of their own and brought it over to the new world. Not only that but after slavery blacks for the most part were segregated, so any European influence would not be significant.
Now was the guitar influenced by Africans or Europeans. The guitar has a major role in the rock genre. But we already know Africans already had string instruments and even their descendants in the USA. So if those blacks in the south adopted the guitar from the whites, it could only be cause African instruments were looked down upon. Heck Rock and roll was called nigger music and was looked at as primitive by whites. So again how much influence did Europeans have on Rock?
Also back on the guitar...Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the Moors introduce the guitar or lute to Europe???
I could be wrong. But if Europeans did influence blues/rock by bringing in the guitar, it would be insignificant in my opinion since string instruments were already in use by Africans. But what is the origins of the guitar. I know the Lute(which the guitar descends from) was played by many people from different cultures around the world. The lute even goes back to the Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans.
But does the guitar that was used by the Europeans/Americans descendants from the Moorish Lute or Moorish guitar???
Please answer.
Anyways thats my rant.

Chuck Berry invented rock and roll in 1955 because black people were starting to think the blues were too depressing. Then Elvis came in to collect the profits for white people. Then the British came in and decided the "and roll" part of "Rock and Roll" was too black so around 1962 they came up with the Beatles and several years later began to call the music "Rock" and left out the "and roll" Later Afrika Bambaataa, found the "and roll" part lying around and used it to make hip hop. Then Eminem stole hip hop, Allan Thicke hired Pharell to steal "Got to Give It Up" and Miley Cyrus stole twerking

That's a nice prose. You should think of career change, if not already. You are good at this.

Black people are not the root of every music in existence that is just the most silliest thing ever. Yes black music IS the root of almost every MODERN music in the western world, that you could say.

Why don't YOU prove your CLAIM. I don't need to prove anything. Music around the world developed INDEPENDENTLY among different groups of people.

The moment you mention "around the world", it invokes the global Black presence that has been obfuscated by encyclopedia Britannica and Hollywood.

Robert F. Flemmings Jr did not invent the modern guitar
WRONG
He had a patent for things he thought were improvements to an already invented acoustic guitar. The things he thought were improvements were not used later on.
Somebody saw the record of his patent. They saw the word "guitar" on it. Then somebody put it in a book and said "Robert F. Flemmings Jr invented the guitar in 1886" Then other books on black inventors coipied each other and the myth was born.
He didn't invent the guitar or modern guitar (whatever 'modern guitar' is supposed to mean)
Do proper research and check things

Although this is subject matter people should already know about by now - there are many places to learn on the web about the African roots of blues, rock and roll and country in fact.
One being by the film producer Martin Scorcese who did a PBS documentary Martin Scorcese presents - The Blues - A Musical Journey.
Here is a good playlist of mainly traditional music showing the African especially Malian background of rock and roll, folk and country music.
