well, good point Tiger but it is hard to imagine how our relations can become FURTHER strained.
Half of the American foreign policy establishment thinks we should have bombed them months ago.

Wikipedia

We are a group of human rights activists living in different parts of the world. Most of us have Iranian origin or live inside Iran.

The aim of this site is to put focus on the human rights situation in Iran and in this way, hopefully contribute ti its improvement.

We try to cover as many as possible human rights-related news, but we are aware of our limitations and believe that what we present here is just a portion of what is atually happening in Iran.

The US can't afford another war right now... perhaps at a later point although I really don't wish so. Obama wants to bring a new, a better image of the USA to the Middle East. This would be definitely the wrong step.

I agree Lily and that is what they are doing. No way would I advocate that America go in militarily. It would serve no good purpose imo. I just think that they should know that we care and are watching and listening to them.

You need to learn to read. I never said that I can prove that video is real. The video is what it is. Posted from an Iranian in Iran. What kind of documentation do you need?

I said that you need to educate yourself about human rights issues in Iran.

I thought you had no time for this?

You need to stop lying. You said "It is obvious that she has been shot. The video is real." Obvious how? You provide no proof save an AI report to divert from your inability to back up your propaganda.

You don't require proof of claims from CNN but do for the Iranian government. And you are not a propagandist? LOL

You Americans are truly evil. You egged on the Shiites to raise up against Saddam only to turn your backs on them. You egged on the Chinese students in Tiananmen square, only to trade with Chinese government after they killed the students. Talk about insult to injury. Now you wish to use the poor people of Iran as fodder. If they really cared about Iranian people they would not encourage them to their deaths for a lie. Moussavi lost, get over it. And it not like it's about human rights anyway, he is just as hard line and has blood on his hands too.

For the faction controlling the Pentagon, the military industry, and the oil industry, the Cold War never ended. They engineered an incredible plan to grab total control of the planet, of land, sea, air, space, outer space and cyberspace.

Continuing "below the radar", they created a global network of military bases and conflicts to advance the long-term goal of Full Spectrum Dominance. Methods include control of propaganda, use of NGOs for regime change, Color Revolutions to advance NATO eastwards, and a vast array of psychological and economic warfare techniques.

They even used "save the gorilla" organizations in Africa to secretly run arms in to create wars for raw materials. It was all part of a Revolution in Military Affairs, as they termed it. September 11, 2001 has allowed the Americans to declare a worldwide "War on Terrorism", on an enemy who was everywhere, and nowhere. 9/11 justified the Patriot Act, the very act that destroyed Americans' Constitutional freedoms in the name of security.

5:03 AM ET -- Khamenei to deliver another address on Friday. That news comes via a very reliable Iranian on Twitter, who cites Iran's state television. The same Twitter user also wrote earlier today about apparent plans for a broad strike being organized by reformists:

Soon Mousavi will announce full national strikes, probably starting with Petrochemical - prepare for this... Expect food shortage - transport stoppage - money shortage in bank... Gov will respond with electric power cuts - prepare and have gas cylinders at home or gasoline for light/cooking... People of Iran - THIS IS THE DAWN - This is the new begining - have hope and prepare.

4:43 AM ET -- Report: 40 senior clerics want election results annulled. The intense infighting among Iran's clerical establishment appeared to play out in new dramatic fashion on Monday. Via reader Art, the news site Peiknet reported that Ayatollah Rafsanjani has a letter signed by 40 members of the powerful 86-member Assembly of Experts calling for the annulment of the recent presidential election results.

Yea, Nokia/Siemens!
Yea, Italy! [Smile]

11:18 AM ET -- Nokia/Siemens responds to report it provided Iran with censoring technology. Via reader Paul, the statement is here. Any thoughts from experts on this issue?

11:16 AM ET -- Italy willing to open embassy to protesters. Reuters writes up the news we noted yesterday: "Italy is willing to open its embassy in Tehran to wounded protesters in coordination with other European nations, the Italian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday. The move follows a Swedish initiative to look into whether European Union nations can put together a plan to take in and provide aid to demonstrators at their embassies in Iran, the ministry said."

A woman looks up at the camera as she lies dying on the streets of Tehran after Saturday's democracy protests. She was named today as 27-year-old Neda Agha Soltani and had been shot through the heart. The harrowing video has spread round the world via the internet and has helped give a human face to the Iranian protest movement. ...read web page

It has just been release that the ambassador from the Iranien ambassy in Denmark is threatining Denmark because our minister of foreign affairs has condemmed the Iranien acting towards the peacefull activist in Teheran and because they have shut down the news papers in Iran these days. However our minister told him he ddnt care. Freedom of speach is a basic human right everyone should be born with he replied.
So the ambassador walked out of the meeting angry is now public threatining Denmark - nothing specific - just that this "is looked on very seriously and will have consequences".

It could scare me a but because the lunatics maybe has nuclear bombs. They are crazy in the head and that will probaly never change because the next one will most likely be just as crazy.

ditto. Denmark has done a great job of standing up to these crazy Muslims. Hell, I might have to vacation there next year. Is the food good?

If the army stays with the reime the revolution will fail. In all revolutions those who wish to topple the government need defections from the army. That happened in France in 1789, Russia in 1917 and in England in 1642, others as well.

In any event this regime has lost international standing and it will be difficult for them going forward .

By the way, seems that France is banning Berkas. That will be a major step forward.

Jesus Crist Gold, someone is in bad shape when they are reduced to envy the goofey Iranians.

Looks like this revolution may have fizzeled out unless the stike works. For any revolution to work at least some of the military has to defect. It appears that has not happened and that is not a good sign. The danger now is that when things settle down they will move in and kill all of the leaders.
I hope that this shows we cannot trust these maniacs with nuclear weapons and that we'll have the guts to do something about it.

I second this post from Anonymous in Italy.

YOU support the regime in Iran and their actions towards its own people????? [Eek!] [Eek!] [Confused] [Mad]

The war in Afghanistan was/is neccesary. It was a terrorist nest and a threat to the free world.

I believe that US went in Iraq with the best intensions but the outcome still havent been a succes and mostly to blame for the lack of succes is the radical muslim groups.

What course of action did you recommend that Nation-States around the world pursue when the United States illegally invaded and occupied Iraq as well as Afghanistan?

Pray tell, where have I stated that I support the Iranian government-a government bought to power by "western" geopolitical interests in 1979.

Its laughable that you would credulously characterise the entire "war on terrorism" entreprise as one with a "humanitarian" mandate.

The "war" againts "terrorist" has enshrouded and obtusficated the real economic and geo-strategic objectives behind it.

Afghanistan is, in many regards, strategic. It not only borders the “Silk Road Corridor” linking the Caucasus to China’s Western border, it is also at the hub of five nuclear powers: China, Russia, India, Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

Afghanistan is at the strategic crossroads of the Eurasian oil pipeline and transport routes. It also constitutes a potential land-bridge for the southbound oil pipeline from the former Soviet republic of Turkmenistan to the Arabian Sea across Pakistan, which had initially been negotiated by Unocal with the Taliban government.

Consequently, we now have the militarization of the Eurasian corridor as a means to securing control over extensive oil and gas reserves, as well as “protecting” the pipeline routes on behalf of the Anglo-American oil companies.

Whoever has control over certain kinds of pipelines and certain kinds of investments in the region does have a certain amount of geopolitical clout. Such clout is something of a commodity itself, even if the physical control of the oil is not.

The planning for the war in Afghanistan was in the “pipeline” for at least three years prior to the tragic events of September 11.

There is ample evidence, (including mountains of official documents) which confirm that successive U.S. Administrations have supported, abetted and harbored international terrorism.

Oh well Obama brought this one on himself; sometimes it's just better not to say anything. A critical statement from Obama is the last thing Ahmadinejad wanted to hear. Well well so much about improving relations with Iran. [Roll Eyes]

Iran's Ahmadinejad compares Obama to Bush

Sudaniya does not like American policy because we do not do what "she" wants us to do. She needs to understand that we do what is in "our" best interest, not "her" best interest.

Well Tiger, Bush and Obama may have the same mideast policy but Obama's lack of competence is the major difference between the two.

US Out of Iran

It is their evolutionary process at work and at stake, not ours, says Phil Giraldi.

Change by evolution is better than by revolution. Both metamorphoses are underway in Iran: one is immediate and reactionary and, perhaps necessarily, more graphic and even grim. The other suggests the possibility that long-lasting change might happen in Tehran – if outside influences do not upset the sensitive process of transformation.
