The Post named the man as Frank Cavalluzzi, a 54 year-old construction worker.

The video is shocking. As the driver of an SUV swerves through an empty pocket of protesters on the streets of San Jose on Friday night, the passenger gestures out of the car and screams “Fuck you!” as they drive away.
But then the driver immediately executes a three-point turn and returns to the protesters, who hurl water bottles and bang on the windows. That’s when the driver suddenly reverses as people in the crowd scream. One of the demonstrators is run over by the rear tires. The camera catches the moment as the SUV crushes the man’s legs.
The incidents span the country. In Tallahassee, Florida, the driver of a red SUV revved their engine before accelerating amid a crowded protest, sending one man flying over the vehicle’s hood. In Tulsa, Oklahoma, the driver of an SUV towing a trailer rammed slowly through a group as two protesters were pushed along by the car’s grill. In Denver, the driver of a black car steered through a small crowd that was surrounding them, only to turn around and run over a man who had been on the car’s hood a moment before. In Gainesville, Florida, an armed man allegedly drove directly into the crowd and threatened to shoot them. In West Fargo, North Dakota, a man allegedly struck a protester and drove with him on his hood for three blocks.
As the nation’s streets become contested spaces, cars have been turned into weapons.
“I think we’ve definitely seen an increase of [vehicle rammings] happening at protests,” said Brooklyn-based activist Chinyere Tutashinda, director of the BlackOut Collective. “They’re very scary and concerning. I can’t help but get a stark reminder of what happened in Charlottesville.
Ari Weil, the deputy research director for the militant propaganda analysis team at the University of Chicago’s Chicago Project on Security and Threats, said he had tracked more than a dozen incidents last week of civilians driving into protesters, as well as four others of police doing the same, including a viral incident in Brooklyn on Saturday night involving two NYPD cars. (Police officers in New York have also been hit by cars in at least two incidents.)

Re bias, my summary graphic of data from both NY and Minnesota show blacks having LESS weapons or contraband on them than whites when stopped by police, yet they are targeted more and have force used against them to a greater extent.

Yeah. I think it goes beyond ignorance. The other part is cynical propaganda. They know the facts but they will lie, stonewall and deceive. In NY's stop and frisk controversies, one of the spiels commonly made was that stopping hundreds of thousands of people of color was an "objective" policy - "just going by what the data shows" to deter drugs and weapons.
But the data shows white people are more criminal, so to speak, exceeding black rates in the carrying of weapons and contraband. So "objective" policy based on data, based on right-winger's own "statistical" reasoning, policy should lead to greater stops and searches of white people, as data shows they are more prone to carrying weapons and contraband, even with blacks heavily over-represented in stops. But you will seldom hear about this data from assorted right wing propagandists, and they would never accept such a policy if applied to white people.

Here's data direct from City of Minneapolis. The blacks were stopped almost 3 times as much as whites, and in addition, many of the blacks were stopped in higher crime hoods. Yet with the deck stacked in every way against the negro, it turns out that the whites stopped were carrying MORE contraband than Blacks or Latinos. QUOTE:

Partially it is ethnic competition as waves of Mexicans moved into hoods once dominated by blacks. Look at LA or here in Texas for example. Throw in youth gangs to escalate what might have started out at a low or moderate level of tension and you have the proverbial toxic mix. Tony Timpa, 32, died in August 2016 as he was restrained by three police officers in a Dallas parking lot. Timpa had called 911 to say he had come off his medication for schizophrenia and depression and needed help.

How the Far-Right Boogaloo Movement Is Trying to Hijack Anti-Racist Protests for a Race War

The anti-racism protests that have convulsed cities across the United States are also being used as cover, to quote the president, for “acts of domestic terror.”
In late May, for example, three Nevada men were “arrested on terrorism-related charges in what authorities say was a conspiracy to spark violence during recent protests in Las Vegas,” reported the Associated Press. Federal prosecutors say the men had molotov cocktails in glass bottles and were headed downtown, according to a copy of the criminal complaint obtained by AP.
“People have a right to peacefully protest,” said Nicholas Trutanich, the U.S. attorney in Nevada. “These men are agitators and instigators. Their point was to hijack the protests into violence.”
But here’s the thing: None of these three men were members of antifa, the left-wing, anti-fascist protest movement that has been blamed both by the president and his attorney-general Bill Barr for recent violence. They were all self-identified members of the so-called boogaloo movement, aka “boogaloo bois” aka “boojahideen” — perhaps the most dangerous group that, until the past week or so, most Americans had never heard of.
The complaint filed in Nevada last month described “boogaloo” as “a term used by extremists to signify coming civil war and/or fall of civilization.” According to Cynthia Miller-Idris, an expert on domestic extremist groups at American University, members of the boogaloo movement “are all united by the idea that they are fighting against government ‘tyranny’ and want to launch a violent insurrection against the government and bring about a second civil war.”
Their weird name comes from — I kid you not! — the much-mocked 1984 movie “Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo,” a sequel to, and near-copy of, the original “Breakin’,” starring Ice T. “Boogaloo boys style the forthcoming war as a repeat of the American civil war,” explained the Economist in May. “The Hawaiian shirts that dot the crowds are a reference to ‘the big luau’, another name for the ‘boogaloo’, which celebrates pig (police) roasts.”
Name and dress sense aside, though, there’s nothing silly or funny about them. The Anti-Defamation League, while documenting how white supremacists have “adopted the boogaloo concept,” also referred to the boogaloo movement’s “casual acceptance of future mass violence” as “disturbing.”
These are heavily armed men, many of them with military training, looking for new and greater opportunities for violent protest. Miller-Idris told me that the boogaloo bois have mobilized “over the past six months in three separate waves of protests” — against attempts by state legislatures to reform gun laws; against the coronavirus lockdowns and shelter-in-place orders; and now as part of the demonstrations and marches against police brutality and racism, in the wake of the George Floyd killing.
Worryingly, their movement is growing online at breakneck speed. As Reuters reported last week, citing a study from the Tech Transparency Project, “tens of thousands of people joined boogaloo-related Facebook groups over a 30-day period in March and April as stay-at-home orders took effect across the United States. … Project researchers found discussions about tactical strategies, weapons and creating explosives in some boogaloo Facebook groups.”
In March, Timothy Wilson, a 36-year-old Missouri man with neo-Nazi ties, was shot and killed by the FBI after plotting to bomb a hospital in the Kansas City area on the first day of the lockdown. Wilson had told an undercover FBI agent that he had wanted “to create enough chaos to kick start a revolution” and referred to his planned attack as “operation boogaloo.”
In April, Aaron Swenson, a 36-year-old Arkansas man, was arrested after he threatened to kill a police officer on a Facebook Live video. “I feel like hunting the hunters,” he wrote on Facebook, where he also made “boogaloo” references, according to the police.
THE BOOGALOO BOIS don’t operate in a vacuum. Their goals, methods, and personnel overlap with a number of far-right, anti-government groups that also pose a significant threat to law, order, and race relations, from the Proud Boys, to the Oath Keepers, to the Three Percenters, to the Sovereign Citizens. Don’t forget the Ku Klux Klan either: The Virginia man arrested for driving his truck into a crowd of Black Lives Matter protesters over the weekend is head of a local KKK chapter.
Some of us have been trying to sound the alarm for several years now. In 2015, a survey of law enforcement agencies found the vast majority of respondents ranked “the threat of violence from anti-government extremists higher than the threat from radicalized Muslims.” In February, prior to both the coronavirus lockdowns and the George Floyd protests, Trump’s handpicked FBI director Christopher Wray told Congress that the bureau had raised its assessment of the threat posed by racially motivated violent extremists in the U.S. to a “national threat priority,” and revealed how extremists motivated by racial or religious hatred made up a “huge chunk” of the FBI’s domestic terrorism investigations. (Of course as my Intercept colleague Alice Speri has previously reported, a considerable amount of the FBI’s domestic terror investigations focused on individuals and groups it labeled “black separatist extremists,” a phenomenon that does not actually exist.)
Yet Trump, of course, isn’t interested in terrorists of the far-right variety — no matter how many Americans they kill or maim. He refused to apply the label of “domestic terrorism” to the white supremacists who murdered Jews at synagogues in Pennsylvania and California. He refused to apply it to a supporter of his who sent pipe bombs to a number of high-profile Democratic politicians and donors. After a Coast Guard lieutenant was arrested on suspicion of plotting to commit an act of white nationalist terrorism, Trump simply said it was a “shame” and a “very sad thing.” After the massacre of 51 Muslims at two mosques in New Zealand, Trump denied white nationalist terrorists were a growing problem and dismissed them as “a small group of people.”
Trump, of course, isn’t interested in terrorists of the far-right variety — no matter how many Americans they kill or maim. But antifa, on the other hand? “The United States of America will be designating ANTIFA as a Terrorist Organization,” declaimed the president on Twitter on May 31 — despite the glaring lack of evidence connecting antifa elements to any of the recent violence or looting.
You know who has been linked to it? The armed guys in the Hawaiian shirts. And not just the trio with molotov cocktails in Nevada. In South Carolina, a 22-year-old man, who the local sheriff’s department accused of being a supporter of boogaloo, was charged “with inciting a riot and aggravated breach of peace.” In Denver, police seized assault rifles and gas masks from a 20-year-old protester who “identifies with the ‘boogaloo’ movement.” In Georgia, “self-identified” boogaloo supporters “armed with rifles and handguns” were spotted among protesters in downtown Athens. In a memo, the Athens police chief called the boogaloo movement an “extremist organization” that aims in part “to instigate race wars across America.”
Let’s be clear: Far-right extremists are hijacking nationwide protests against racism to push for … a race war! While the boogaloo “might have elements that are closer to libertarians … 90 percent of the boogaloo material is racist,” Mia Bloom, an expert on online extremism at Georgia State University, told me. According to Bloom, therefore, “we can expect a lot more violence in the lead up to the 2020 election.” Miller-Idris of American University agrees. “I think we should be very concerned about the violent potential of these groups,” she told me. “There have always been fringe seditionist and anti-government militia groups but this phenomenon represents a more rapid growth in both online and offline space than we have seen before.”
The president and his attorney general, then, have stumbled on an undeniable truth: There is a domestic terror threat in the United States. We need to recognize it in order to protect against it. But here’s what Trump and Barr won’t say: That terror threat comes not from anti-fascists in black masks, but from actual fascists in Hawaiian shirts.

I am a bit skeptical of the SPLC etc trying to blow up so-called "Boogaloo Bois" as this major threat. The far-right has been advocating "the coming race war" for several years now and assorted groups like OathKeepers have been around for years earlier. It is true that online communication allows even the lamest of the lame to posture, bluster and make web forum noise, but lumping all of these together into some sort of "boogaloo" "movement" - seems a stretch. "Boogaloo" term seems like an Internet meme that has been blown out of proportion, like "woke."
But whoever adapted the term is clever- its chipper, memorable , and so nebulous it can fit almost anything- from online trolling, to actual violence. Rather than the usual dreary, depressing voice-over bout race war doom, it is much more catchy to say "WE GON BOOGALOO."

But Muhammed is indeed correct re-white demographic decline, and the need for blacks to do better on the health front. But whites don't need to pump various diseases into the black community to maintain hegemony. He fails to mention that whites can simply expand their numbers by incorporating Hispanics, many of who desire this exact outcome. European Americans already comprise 60% + not including Hispanics of the U.S. population.
African Americans, 13-14%
Hispanics 18.3%

The moderate will align with hispanics as white. The honerary white status worked in Latin America, because they are considered secondary to the brancos, who are directly the descendants of the conquistadors. Nevertheless, it's still very dangerous how mestizos try to pander.

Likewise some Puerto Ricans. Since whiteness has shown some flexibility in the past, incorporating people like Italians or Jews, then the "Latinx" LatinY? LatinZ? have precedent, and are on their way to modifying the American race hierarchy towards a more "mestizo" flavor, but with the same fundamental bottom lines. The fly in the ointment is the mass migration of dusky peasant groups which hinder a smooth move towards whiteness, but the general pattern is in motion.
There is a massive amount of time being wasted by black youth on diversionary sideshows, particularly black males, even as these other groups, which will be more favored by the larger society move ahead. There are exceptions both native and foreign background like Africans or Caribbeans of course but a general trend towards displacement and marginalization in some areas too is in motion.

I agree with some things assorted "Patriots" say- such as the corrupt bankstas, NWO, etc, but some of their anti-gubment rhetoric seems hypocritical on a number of counts. They keep railing against the federal gubment as this giant oppressor, but become mysteriously muted on one of the most immediate levels of gubment oppression- STATE AND LOCAL regimes. Where the fire-breathing "sons of liberty" for example when it comes to oppression by corrupt systems of criminal justice and law enforcement? I do not refer to decent individual cops but the corrupt systems that cover up wrongdoing and protect wrongdoers- including unions, manipulative prosecutors, or the local pols that benefit from union money and votes and thus have little incentive to work towards substantive reform?
Where the bold rhetoric of liberty when people are ensnared and fleeced in "policing for profit" shakedowns? Oh wait, not much from said "patriots" when the victims are black, but even then the overall problem'hits white victims as well.
Where the fire-breathing fighters "against bureaucratic oppression" when one of the most striking examples of abuse is eminent domain abuse where LOCAL regimes can too often condemn or take over your property without adequate compensation or hearing? This strikes home most sharply at the LOCAL LEVEL, not "the federal bureaucrats".. Yet time and time again, assorted "patriots" skip over the most massive examples of government oppression to rail at the distant "feds", even as many, too often, support corrupt local regimes.

They talk up the federal govt as this huge monster, but state and local regimes are as oppressive a monster as any, and if it were not for the federal gubment there would have been no Civil Rights Act of 1964 or Voting Rights Act, or the years of subsequent enforcement needed to help black folk. Just the feds threatening to withhold funds from Jim Crow hospitals was a boon for black health care as one example. And long overdue federal funding for programs in a variety of areas finally gave black folk a piece of the action, a sliver of a gigantic pie that whites have so long enjoyed.
Strangely, some of the folk who rail against "federal oppression" had no problem with federal rules on into the 1960s that "redlined" black homeowners and veterans into inferior second-tier schools and ghettos. Nor in the past, were southern slave apologists unhappy with "federal oppression" when the federal Fugitive Slave Law provided nationwide cover to seize not only runaways but free blacks as well, dragooning them into slavery
Unsurprisingly, most of the folk in the video spend most of the time railing against "the feds" or "Washington" conveniently ignoring incompetence and oppression close to home. Guys like Chris Hedges though, seem to have a more balanced critique of both left and right.

An intoxicated man grabbed two state troopers' Tasers and fired them three times during a fight on Saturday night in Red Lion, striking one trooper in the shoulder, according to charging documents.
With the second Taser, Scott Jason Orvis, 37, also nearly hit a second trooper who was attempting to arrest him, documents state.
Orvis, of the 4500 block of Hikey Street, Dover Township, faces a host of charges, including six counts of aggravated assault, two counts each of disarming a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct and one count of DUI.
As of Monday, Orvis remained in York County Prison on $500,000 bail. He has a preliminary hearing Feb. 13 before District Judge John H. Fishel, according to online court dockets.

The former Minneapolis police officer charged with killing George Floyd could still receive pension benefits starting in just a few years, even if he's convicted. Pension officials in Minnesota confirmed to CBS News that the ex-officer, Derek Chauvin, could collect more than $1 million in benefits over the next three decades.
Chauvin, 44, was fired in May one day after video showed him putting his knee on Floyd's neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds during an arrest, leading to Floyd's death. Chauvin now faces a second-degree murder charge and is held on $1 million bail; three other officers who were also fired were charged for aiding and abetting murder.
But Minnesota is one of several states that has no law relinquishing or reducing pension for public employees if they are convicted of felonies related to their work. This means Chauvin, who worked for the Minneapolis police department since 2001, could be eligible for pension benefits — partially funded by taxpayers — even if he's convicted and imprisoned. Chauvin faces up to 40 years behind bars if found guilty.
CNN first reported Chauvin's benefits and the amount he is likely to receive.
The Minnesota Public Employees Retirement Association told CBS News that members can begin early retirement benefits at age 50. If Chauvin started collecting a $50,000 annual benefit when he's 55, he stands to receive more than $1 million in payouts if he lives to at least 75, the association said. Factors such as cost of living increases and Chauvin's previously logged overtime could boost his benefits even more.
The association's executive director, Doug Anderson, told CBS News that new legislation is the only thing that could keep Chauvin from collecting the cash. "A change to state law would be required," he said. ----------------------------------------------------------

There have been people who did decades in prison under false accusations. And when exonerated in many cases received little no compensation. Only get the stuff they had when they moved into prison. Many of these men, needless to say are Black males. These people have been put behind bars by filth like Derek Chauvin.

Indeed. The system is seriously corrupt. Everybody jumps down on the individual cop on the street, but some of the prosecutors above, knew they were convicting innocent people. or knew the evidence did not warrant as serious a charge etc, but STILL they kept on lying, covering up, withholding evidence, stonewalling etc etc. They could do justice, but they cynically prefer to do injustice..

Craig Cole may not be an oddity. If you can't afford a good lawyer and don't have strong family or community supports, the system will railroad you. Even with the above they will try but they have to be more careful when they are dealing with a person who has those resources and/or supports.
Black men in particular need to start hardening their defenses and stop doing the things that make them a target, or take steps to protect themselves once in encounters with police.
One of the best books out there on this is by white ex-cop- Dale Carson. Rayshard in Atlanta did almost everything wrong- making himself a target. Amhaud Avery in prior encounters with police too in 2017 does almost everything wrong. FOr one thing you don't get out of your car and walk up on police. Nor do you start cussing and swearing at them. You don't grab their tasers or start running. Its sad that in 2020, after almost a decade of videos, and multiple decades of knowing that a corrupt system may target you, black men still keep making these mistakes when dealing with these people.

Feds to review investigations into two Black men found hanging in Southern California Officials said they don't suspect foul play in the apparent hanging deaths in Palmdale and Victorville.
une 15, 2020, 9:14 PM MST By Andrew Blankstein and Phil Helsel LOS ANGELES — Federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are reviewing investigations into the deaths of two Black men who were recently found hanging in Southern California.
Sheriff's officials have said there are no signs of foul play in the death of Robert Fuller last week in Palmdale, north of Los Angeles, or the death May 31 of Malcolm Harsch in Victorville, but investigations continue.
Fuller, 24, was found dead near Palmdale City Hall on Wednesday afternoon by a passerby, a sheriff's official has said, and his death was initially ruled an apparent suicide.
On Monday, Dr. Jonathan Lucas, chief medical examiner-coroner for Los Angeles County, said the cause and manner of death would not be determined until other evidence is in, including toxicology results.
"The initial reports appeared to be consistent with a suicide," Lucas said. "But we felt it prudent to roll that back and continue to look deeper."

Suspect in killing of 2 Bay Area officers tied to right-wing Boogaloo group, prosecutors allege

Two men associated with an extremist movement whose goal is to incite civil unrest face federal prosecution in the fatal shooting in Oakland last month of a federal security officer, officials said Tuesday. Air Force Sgt. Steven Carrillo, 32, who was charged in state court last week with the killing of Damon Gutzwiller, a Santa Cruz County sheriff’s sergeant, now faces federal charges along with another man in the Oakland slaying.
Federal officials said Carrillo was aided by Robert A. Justus Jr., 30, of Millbrae, Calif., in the killing of federal security officer David Patrick Underwood. Justus drove a white van and acted as the getaway driver in the May 29 Oakland shooting, officials said.
Federal officials, speaking at a news conference Tuesday, said the two men were linked through cellphone records. Officials said Carrillo harbored a hatred of law enforcement and had ties to a right-wing “Boogaloo” movement that believes a second American Civil War is coming soon.
Underwood, a 53-year-old resident of Pinole, Calif., was guarding the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building in Oakland amid protests nearby over police brutality and the killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer. The white van was captured on a surveillance video, officials said, which revealed that the gunman slid open the van’s side door to fire the weapon.

Carrillo killed Sgt. Damon Gutzwiller, critically injured another deputy and threw pipe bombs at police on June 6th, Santa Cruz District Attorney Jeffrey S. Rosell alleged on Thursday.
Before he was apprehended, Carrillo scrawled the word “boog” and “I became unreasonable” in blood on the hood of a car. “Boog” is short for boogaloo, a far-right anti-government movement that began on the extremist site 4chan and aims to start a second American civil war.

By saying, "Hey Siri, I'm getting pulled over," the shortcut -- which a user must first install themselves -- will pause any music that you're playing, turn down the brightness of your phone, turn on the "Do Not Disturb" mode to block any incoming calls, open up your front-facing camera and start a video recording. It also sends a message to a predesignated contact, letting them know that you're being pulled over and where your current location is. Once you stop the recording, it sends a copy of the video to a predesignated contact and gives you the option to send it to your iCloud or Dropbox. This book provides advice to African American boys and men on how to survive encounters with police. This book provides ideas on how to think about interaction with police to lower the chances of escalation. The book also provides information on legal and administrative rights citizens have to redress police misconduct so no hostilities occur at the time of encounter. The book provides practical step-by-step guidelines on how to respond to police when pulled over for traffic stops and when stopped for questioning outside of traffic encounters. Eric Broyles is an attorney and Adrian Jackson is a police officer.
The Facebook Live shooting Reed was fatally shot last Wednesday following a police pursuit on the city's north side. After exiting his car, police say Reed began to flee on foot. He had a gun, police said, and at some point, fired that weapon at police.
As he ran, the officer first attempted to stun him, then shot him.
Reed's family maintains he was unarmed. IMPD Chief Randal Taylor has said the investigation is ongoing and will be transparent. As of yet, the department has not released details about the shooting, including the name of the officer involved.

Hmm looks like a good recommendation, I may order it. According to the reviews their basic theme is comply now- contest later. This is similar to Carson's approach- which recommends that you do not try to be a street lawyer in these encounters, though that does not mean you meekly waive your rights. There are certain red lines.
This is stuff that needs to be put into action NOW. People don't have to wait decades for "reform" it can be done right NOW. I can't believe what's going on in some places. The latest up above has some guy on video "fleeing" from police, who hold almost all the cards, and get credit for a felony bust, which translates into years in the grinding CJ machinery, from prison to probation. kaching.. The system makes a profit off your body.

Great resource! Yes there is the individual level which can be put into action NOW, today, with minimal expense, which will yield immediate, positive results.
And then there is a community organization level which is a much tougher long-term fight. The police unions are embedded deep in many cities with the local political establishments which rely in part on union money and votes. And other Crim Justice players like prosecutors rely heavily on convictions to burnish their records and careers- meaning they will favor the police, and will when it suits, railroad people. This is one of the reason we have independent coroner's offices in many cities- an independent analysis on cause of death, not what the police/prosecutors (who have sometimes been known to manipulate or "misplace" evidence) claim it is.
These various CJ elements do not want too much scrutiny or oversight. For example Civilian Review Boards have been advocated for decades. Most proposals have been defeated or watered down into weak form. What really counts is the union contract, which is layered ON TOP OF CIVIL SERVICE PROTECTIONS- a heavy dual layer. THis is the main reason why the "bad apples" stay in place or are able to move on elsewhere with relatively little damage (union contract "expungement of record" rules eg. etc)
Community organizing solutions need to be made. Its interesting that the handbook you link to was written over 25 years ago, at the time of the Rodney King incident. How much has changed as far as the community level? WHere is the private funding for things like Copwatch citizen police monitoring? Public funding for such usually "disappears" relatively quickly. In the late 1960s the feds funded a few such programs in black areas. Various politicians, including right winger national types, made sure they were chopped from the budget.
