After spending about 10 minutes scrolling down all the replies to this person posting - did skip a few at the end though, I have to say that in the past year or so have seen many people like this come to Egyptsearch and post very similar messages. I really think you're all wasting your time with your replies - the minute i see lost of 'F' words splattered everywhere you are pretty sure what kind of a person you are dealing with. We've all had experience of Egypt, good and bad - I can tell you stories that will have you on the FIRST plane there and stories that will have you cry, like most of us.
Egypt is a very special place, keep it that way for those of us who miss and love it.
Respect.

Frienda you and puppy seem to be the only ones living in reality of what Egypt is really like. Most of these people dont posting here dont even fucking live in Egypt, and only come to visit, mostly fucking resorts.

As for the dumb ass Serendipity bitch, if I was on a fucking Paris or London board, I would write about the things that annoy me there! Get that thru your fucking head, this is an EGYPT board, and I'm living in fucking EGYPT, but most of you bitches just wanna use this board to fucking complain about America and Israel, so **** you!!!!!!

He speaks of Egyptian badly but atleast he is being truthful.

Anyone who is not a foreigner will not understand where is anger is coming from.

As for hypocrites out there, you should GRANT that for every person who speak about Egypt badly, an egyptian is speaking badly about another country.

If an american speaks of egypt badly, there is an egyptian out there who speaks of United States badly.

Stop being shocked by a subject of this nature. Welcome the bad and good. It is the nature of us humans.

Side note:

For any rude person, who is calculating my grammatical errors and can't comprehend my overall judgment, calla te cara de mierda!

My problem is,that i'm too honest ..
I know u dont want hear this..u like more honest people, who have something nice to say..but i must say it anyway..

Egypt is faraway from paradice for me.
I dont want even live in paradise, normal life is much more intresting...

Anyway, paradise for me..is place what is beutiful, green, clean.

It is place where is only one group of people, there is no classes, poor and rich..everybody have same respect..even they dont have same work or money..

There can be different kind of religion, but they respect each others, and live together..as a one group.Without fighting whos religion is right..

People are happy, and honest.
When they say something to u , u can trust..that they really mean it.

Animals get their rights..

People are different kind of..everybody can have own personality..u dont must follow other people..and act like they act..u can be ur self.

There is not crowded places..there is rouls, how many house can be in one place..
There is rouls how to make houses..

There is rouls how to drive a car. There is no traffic..cause everything is so well organised..and drivers respect each others..and rouls.

You can have ur privacy..nobady come touch u on the street..
U can go anywhere alone, and feel safe and not get attension from other people,if u want to be alone.

Man and woman are on same line.
Both of have same rights.
Man is not one who make money for family..man is not one who go out with his friends..
Woman is not one who take care of kids..and home..

There is polices, that u can trust for them...that they help u,when u have a problem..
There is law, that u cant change with money..rouls are rouls.

There is doctors, who can safe ur life..or help with other medical problems..
U can trust for them..and money is not object..

Kids have freedom to be kids..they can enjoy their first years without anything else to do but play..
After that in the school, it cant be very hard to study,it must be also fun,and intresting..there is good teachers..

Sorry about my bad english..

I hope u understand what i mean..
There is no a paradise country..but something good have every country.
So what good have egypt?
And what bad?
Can we talk...and stop personal fights between members..

Because the 10 things I named are the fucking truth, anyone who disagrees is fucking patrionizing your dumb ass.

Actually no one really disagreed with my 10 statements, they just didnt like the way I went about saying them, because I'm so angry. They criticize my behavior, how I say it, etc, but can't deny that I told the truth. You show me a foreigner that can deny anything I said, and I'll show you one ass kissing liar that has never lived in Cairo.

1.The place is dirty and disgusting 7aya, don't deny ut, and dont tell me what other countries are dirty, I'm talking about here.

2. Taxi drivers charge us foreiners more for going to the same destination as an Egyptian, don't deny it.

3. Merchants without advertised prices, increase the price for us foreigners, if you over charge me, I'm not buying a damn thing, if you charge me a fair price, I might buy 10 of them, they dont have that concept of business.

4. Cairo doesnt have enough traffic light, and dont have ANY pedestrian crosswalks, drivers don't yield right away to pedestrians, and they dont slow down when you're crossing dont deny it.

5.Government employees are underpaid, don't deny it, and I'm not talking about the overpaid Ministries, I'm talking that average lady at the visa office who makes you wait 4 hours for a fucking stamp.

6. If anyone says there are not beggars everywhere is kissing ass to the 10th power, and dont tell me what the **** they have in NYC, thats irrellevant. Don't deny it.

7. The doorman , like the merchants expect you as a foreigner to give him 3 times the monthly fee as ur Egyptian neighbors, don;t deny it.

8. Maybe some people are too poor to afford deoderant, so their smell is intensified in the summer heat, dont deny it.

Some people need a raw dose of reality, and anothe foreigner like myself, leaving is not the solution to your problem, the next foreigner coming in will have to deal with the same bullshit.

Don't take the easy way out 7aya, and dismiss any foreigner complaining about this country as racist. I'm gonna continue my last 2 years of AUC at their campus in Dubai, another Arab country, with totally different atmosphere, clean, honest, decent people overall, but nevertheless still Arab/muslims, so you see it has nothing to do with race.

We can not accept “tempted” style to introduce his/her view, but what she/he said is true. We have to confess and add 100 more, subsequently we will be able to change and correct ourselves. We can not stay forever talking about several thousands of years of civilization while we through garbage over our neighbors, steel others’ time, cheat tourists, insult others, harassing each other sex hunger, no one dares to discuss or find solution, annoying ppl with wedding parties to the next day, very high ugly voices everywhere, fahlawa is the system. Egyptians deserve better behavior, when “no smoking” was imposed at the “Metro” it works. Egyptians were better before the disaster “so-called” the revolution. When they imposed the communist so-called socialist system, ppl became the hell of others, if you are there in front of the bakery, I have no chance to have breads, so I try to ignore you, or bribe the baker, and so on. I do not know how those silly drivers explode in cheers when they force others to run or fall when they cross the streets. Streets are crowded with children playing football, you will be clever if you can avoid ball hit on your face breaking your glasses. If we don’t try to correct, I think “tempted” is so lucky when you tell him/her “ if you don’t like leave” because she/ he has some other place to go, while we don’t!!

Katkut, first of all I am not Egyptian and I'm not living in Egypt at the moment. Besides don't go changing the subject into politics and try to defend your country out of blind nationalistic pride. Is Brazil a nice place? maybe for a 2 week holiday, but to live there? no way, not if you paid me...honest.

Like I said besides the tourist areas, there are places in Brazil were I won't travel alone cos the crime rate in Brazil is among the highest in South America. As for the hospitals which you seem so proud of, it seemed like nurses had no idea what rubber gloves were even when drawing blood. Before travelling to Brazil my G.P (local doctor) gave me a looong list of vaccinations I should take. And if your interested as to why I went to hospital, the doctor apparently blamed it on food poisening. And please don't try and feed me rubbish about care in Brazil, unless you have loads of this $$$$$ you are nothing but scum.

I've tried to answer your questions, but to be honest your english is very hard to understand (no offense intended).

Brazil couldn't hold a candle against their neighbours like Bolivia or even Paraguay.

Salam Ibrahiem,

We all agree with you, we have a lots of social and economic problems in our country.
"Fahlawa and wana mali" traditions are embedded in our culture for many decades now.
Other countries have different problems, take new York, I have been conned out of my money three times and the police did nothing about it.
In SF, I stayed at a hotel where the member of staff took my all weekly accommodation charge, never give me a receipt then I was asked to pay the money again as they denied I did in the first time.
It is known in London that the taxi drivers will charge you double if you are a tourist specially American or a Japanese!
Our problems in Egypt are greater, we lack organisation and monitoring and of course 7ameeha 7arameeha!
Uprooting such newly acquired and shocking behaviour will need a long time and in a way 'El e3teraff Bil ghalat fadeela " in the first place.

This is "The" ideal place. No country in the world has all that yet. Any country no matter how civilized will fall short of a few of those points and tax payers are still paying and demanding to get all that you describe everywhere on earth.

So are you comparing Egypt against the ideal now or against some other place in your mind? Anyway, try rural Egypt and you will get the first 12 lines of your description.

Ok. Let say it clearly
I read from this forum, how people says, that egypt is wonderful place ,it is paradise..
For me, egypt is nice place to visit..it is very intresting place..
But living here is then a other story..
It is not easy.
Maybe for u egyptians..cause u use to have life like this always..u dont even think, that things could be with other way..
And it is ok with me..if u are happy, then live like this.

As many of u know..i fall in love with egyptian man..and it is why i'm living here..not cause i was want change my life..or i was want to work here..or see the different kind of culture..
But always when u have mixed marriage..u must leave something,to get something....it is not easy..always other part is not so happy for living place..but love is more important for us ..

Anyway, i dont must care things here..but what can i do..i'm so sensitive..
I get upset if some stranger on the street touch me or talk to me without respect..
I get scared in cairo with traffic and people, who look me like i'm animal from the zoo..
I get nervos with doctors ,cause i feel they are not really intresting nothing else than money..same with police,goverment..
I get upset when i see animals, who are suffering..
I feel bad for really poor people, some people treat them like dogs..
I cant trust for anybody..that they really mean what they say..only for my husband.
This is because i come from so different kind of culture..we use to say only things, what we really mean..and people keep their promises..
I miss my freedom to live..without thinking how i dress, how i talk..how i do things..without getting too much attension.
And what i cant understand...why egyptian man are so over sexual? it is natural..that woman and man can be only friends..they dont think about sex..they dont look after every woman..they dont try touch u,when nobady is seeing..
Why they cant be good muslims..and keep their eyes in their own wife..
And dont say, men are hotter here in south..i dont believe it..
I say it is mentality problem. It is problem of religion..and u cant handle it..
Maybe u should have 4wifes..it could be much better, than running after tourist...

OK. Now u can hate me..
I just hope, that i can have my private ..with everything else i can deal..and i could say,i like my life here in egypt..

To everyone here, as we were born in this world diff, we all have diff opinions. Some of us may like egypt while some of us may hate it. Some may find America liberating while others think of it as jail. But thats how we were created, dont you ppl think of how boring the world would be if we all adored egypt? or that we loved america.

Everywhere you will go you will see bad thing and good things, no place is paradise, Paradise actually exist cause of this lack of perfection.
Paradise is in the end, is what you and only you yourself think of it to be. Like here we saw what "puppy" pictures paradise, and so with "tempted" obviously paradise is far away from egypt.
We were created diff on this world so we can see what the fellow companion cant see and vice versa, but also that we should respect eachother. I could get down to your level Tempted and swear back to you and call you names. but what do I earn from that? respect? pride? nothing.
I gave you my opinion about egypt, wich is in the end the views what only my heart and eyes was witness too, and you gave me yours, wich I respect.
If egypt would have been loved by all, wouldnt that make egypt not unique anymore? and same goes for Venice and Malaysia, and every contry in the world.
Tempted its good that you say what you think lacked in egypt, but if you had said it in a diff way, maybe you will be discussing in respect and like humanbeings. But at the end you are free to do whatever you like, I am happy for you that you are finished with exams and will leave soon. its in the end, its up to the pleasures of the eyes, ears, tongue and heart of yours, not mine. Hope you have a safe trip back to your country.

wish you the best,
Sara

I just hope, that i can have my private ..with everything else i can deal..and i could say,i like my life here in egypt..

puppy you say that most posts here say that egypt is wonderful? are we talking about the same forum? because the anti-egypt posts that are here outnumber the pro-egypt posts by far. further, you say that we egyptians have lived here all our lives and are not aware of the bad things. well you europeans have lived all your lives in your countries' also unaware of the problems. i've visited europe often and i've loved it. but there are also many aspects that pissed me and that i found very bad. also i think it was very strange of you to say that our problems are related to religion. you should respect other people's religion's puppy. isn't that part of the "civilization" of the west? to respect other people's differences???
further, you've said several times that you have neglected your social life and that you don't go out that often. you also said that cairo scares you. till when will you hide? i know that the fast paced crazy lifestyle of cairo can be difficult especially for people who come from quiet cities, but why don't you make the best out of it. as crazy as cairo is, it is a very exciting city with an amazing social life. unlike most european cities where the city is dead during the week and everything closes so early, cairo is bustling every single day. any time you will go out youll find people in the streets and the cafe's until the wee hours of the night. why don't you enjoy that? why don't you make friends and go out? why don't you find an interesting job, and make an interesting network of contacts? why don't you meet some egyptians and try to learn about the culture? why are you hiding like that???

Hi 7aya,
I dont live in cairo.
I live in Hurgahada, but we have vacationhome there in al rehab.

I respect very much religions..what ever it is..but i cant respect people, who say they are muslims/christians,but they are doing things with their own way,not like Koran/bible says.(but i respect people, who are honest..they can say,i'm not a good muslim/christian..but i try to do my best..)
What i was meaning, when i talk about mens sexuality..and religion..
It is just strange for me, how this muslim mens are giving durty looks for woman on the street..it is not right. if u are good muslim,u dont even look any woman..
Islam make clear, that sex is only for marriage..and it is a nice thing. So why this men cant follow their religion, not their feelings..
Or why egyptian culture, makes marriage so difficoult for men..u must have a lot of money..u must wait very long time, that u can marry...
U could simple marry in age 20,live in a rent flat and so..
I think it helps to stop men having sex before marriage..if they can marry earlier..

Do i never say that liFe is perfect in europe? no,never..
There is own problems..
U know..after i moved to egypt..i started to see better the problems in my country.
Then i started to see problems here in egypt..
I think everybody should go to somewhere outside of their own country to live some time..it helps to open ur eyes, good and bad things come more clear.

And what about my personal life..i think this is not place to talk about it..nobady is intrested anyway
I just say, i'm person who dont need much action or people around.
I love to have just one or two very good girl friends..
And my husband is my best friend. We are doing things together..anytime i want,he takes me to coffeeshop or play biljard

I come from very religion family..there is very much same rouls, than in islam..like no sex before marriage,no contraception... Everything is done most natural way,as God made us.
So for me,religion is only black and white..u can be only religion one,if u follow koran/bible ...u cant make things how is best for u..

Sorry,i'm writing a bok here..
I dont want, that people undestood me wrong..even my english is killing u..

To dear Salama, thank you for your reply, but he/she says they are not talking about any other country but Egypt. You are so smart, once I will tell you why, I realized it myself, although I have never seen you. Now, “tempted” you said you announce this topic because they disturb you at AUC, because of the American policy in the Middle East, this is not fair, you mix issues together. We like the American people, but we disagree with the American policy, Europe has the same attitude. I think that we and Americans are victims of that policy. We feel sorry for the American soldiers who loose their lives for oil in Iraq everyday as we feel the same for the Iraqis. Don’t talk about WMD, or terrorism, terrorism is a play of international intelligence, we both peoples are victims of. “Tempted”, as you wish we accept your criticism ( while we ask you for better language), we do and we ask you the same. You, and all the people concerned at this topic are invited to see our antiquities in Cairo, I will offer you one day explanation for free, this is a human behavior we offer to all our guests for no money, then we can discuss at “round table” all these disputed issues, I am sure you will change your mind. The choice of date is yours.

Yes I am talking about Egypt you stupid bitch, go to a NYC or London board to complain about how your dumb ass was conned out of money. Foreigners are conned out of money everyday in this fucking country.

You try to act so fucking self-righteous and religious, but I read about you calling black americans big lipped niggers, and blacky child molesters, stop the fucking act, will you. And you and that bitch 7aya have the gall to call me a racist, for telling the truth about Egypt, and how your so-called class system just further divides people.

Its not my responsibility to talk about Egypt's problems in a rational way, you're trying to solicit the support of foreigners, to fix the problems of this fucking country, fix your own problems.

The way people dress in Brazil without getting harrassed show they are not the sex starved animals these assholes in Egypt are. Women like Puppy and Katkut complain all the time about these sex crazed donkey asses. So what, they dont attack them or rape them, but nevertheless if someone is afraid to leave their home without their husband, that says alot about the morality of these jerks in a so-called islamic environment. Yeah make the women cover up from head to toe, and allow the men to roam the streets like animals, undressing them with their eyes, and making up excuses for this type of sh it, like yeah, they can't afford marriage, bullshit, and you know it.

I've seen with my own eyes, a modestly dressed foreigner that would be respected in the States, walking side by side with a slut in a hijab, the tightest clothes you ever saw, while all the guys are trying to pick up the foreigner and ignore you egyptian bitches in their presence. The Egyptian bitch is trying hard to get attention, while the foreign girl is trying to be inconspicuous, being followed for blocks by some of the most irate animals I've ever seen on the face of the earth.

Puppy and Katkut, I understand what you are experiencing, don't expect bitches like 7aya and salama to understand because no one probably pays the ugly bitches any attention.

These whores at AUC are so easy to f uck, and they prefer it up their hijab wearing asses, so they can pretend to their nerdy ass future rich husband that they are still chaste, bullshit.

Tempted,

You crack me up. I love your humour and yes I understand fully how you felt. Remember, I was suppose to be there from Feb until June in school. However, I said **** it, and quit in April. I work for a fashion magazine and I made an tearful plea to my editor, to come home and style the next shoot so I could get away from Egypt. It was coming to a point that i was either going to kill myself or kill some Egyptian bastard if I would have continued my entire stay. That hash, and St. John's wort could only help me so much.

I have to congratulate you on your courage for withstanding that shithole. When you come home, book yourself for a deep tissue massage, all that tension you've accumulated needs to be taken out.

As for those girls who still after all this, support Egypt, well they like being treated like a 3rd class citizen. They have been raised to consider themselves worth less than a mule so they think it's okay to be fondled, stared and treated like **** by strange men. They do not know any better and they consider it to be good attention.

Also, you have to take into consideration that you are getting so much negativity is because you are not Muslim nor Arab and an American. I remember when I put out a posting, I got the worst replies from Egyptian women and from American women who married an Egyptian man and now live in Egypt. These bitches have so much hostility toward anyone who has a "joie de vivre" attitude toward life like us civilised Westerners. The Americans are just angry because they are stuck in a country that will never accept them and the Egyptian ones, because I like one of their men. The other women, have never actually been to Egypt, they are just in love with an Egyptian guy they met on-line whom tells them that Egypt is a perfect Islamic country. It's not until they get their first beating while there good ol' American family is 8,000 miles away that they kind of wake up, but by that time it's too late.

My question is, are any of these broads employed? I look at their total amount of postings that they've posted and it seems that all they do is sit on the computer and complain to anyone who does'nt agree that their country is in shambles. These women are forced by society to be submissive and oppressed so the only time they are able to take out their agression is in these forums. So no, do not take what these women have told you personally. They are just angry, and I don't blame them. Imagine, what we dealt with and magnify it by a lifetime! Yep, very angry women!

As for them mentioning that Egypt is a very "safe" country, I don't believe that for one minute. I really believe that rapings occur there every day. However, I'm convinced that it's all kept a secret by the police and government to not scare future tourists. Veiling is growing more than ever and there is a reason why, but no one really talks about it, it's just kept under the cover. I've never had so much fear toward men until I went there. In Egypt groups of men would cause me so much fear. Especially, after my Rosa Parks moment, I would never trust any of those bastards!

As for my boyfriend, if we marry I'm definitley getting a pre-nup. I may love him, but at the end of the day, he is still an Egyptian bastard. 75% of me is very into him while 25% realises that he is after all an Egyptian man.

Of course, we'll be receiving replies that we are "racist", "anti-Islam" and "pro-Bush". You know, I was'nt pro-Bush when I arrived in Egypt but when I left, I realised that Bush is'nt all that bad after all. I still think Islam is an amazing religion, unfortunately you see so little of it in Egypt.

Contrary to your assumption I love Egypt as the country itself and the people. I have no man or links to Egypt other than friends I have made along the way. Have you travelled to other places in Egypt other than Cairo? Cairo is unique in itself, but I feel the best part of Egypt is the southern areas. Men are men, but I've never felt like I wasn't safe. Have you travelled to other countries? Egyptian men are mild in comparison. I guess I'm saying that if you travel to more than just a handful of countries you will see Egypt in a better light.

You just don't get it.(Anyone who is not egyptian my comment isn't directed towards you.)

I am Egyptian and as an Egyptian I realize the beauty of Egypt and the ugliness of it.

Look at the way you guys are acting. I have never met an Egyptian like me that wanted change in Egypt.

I am not just talking about gaining female power. I am talking about real change.

Why don't we turn this thread and talk about changes we want in Egypt. How can we go about these changes?

If you are old then your generation as failed to make a statement. It is up to my generation and the generation after to push for changes.

Just as America has a hugeeeee barrier between its wealthy class and poor class so does Egypt. Many Egyptian should start donating the little they can to such places like the orphanages in Egypt.

It is so easy to put down someone, or something, or some place. It takes a more stronger, peaceful person to know a negative attitude won't get you anywhere.

I am greatful to have a computer to speak my mind and communicate with everyone. There are people that are still living in homes of cloth.

Please do something. As people of God. Let him see our good intentions. Let him rid us of evil and negative thoughts. Let us become as close we can in a place where earth is trully hell. Okay?

I hope you take my words sincerely. Take care.

This thread is nothing but 'A CULTURAL SHOCK' issue that could go on for ever, foreigners coming to Egypt should understand clearly that it has its own DRESS CODE FOR WOMEN, and RULES when dealing with Egyptian common people on the streets like vendors, policemen, taxi drivers or even governmental clerks..the task is not easy, the highly educated Egyptians who can afford a western-like education and life-style are easier to identify with..but still when it comes to Politics and religion avoid them..
Abide to those simple rules, you'll find Egypt a pleasant third world country..if you compare it to Nigeria, Bangaladesh or Afghanistan.

A few members commented on being followed in the street by "animal-like" men....Well, you do get that in all countries, USA included...You know what I mean, the wolf whistles and lecherous remarks when you go past a building site, for example... You know full well this happens in your own countries....so dont go making it sound like a uniquely Egyptian phenomenon. It's not only the building site experience, though. In fact, one of the consultants (high education, high status) I've worked with in the UK was given the nick name Tricky Mickey because he could never keep his hands to himself...so there you go! There's these people all over the planet. Tricky Mickeys and wolf whistles are nothing to do with civilisation; just male hormones and hyper inflated egos.

I disagree. Sure you may find this kind of men everywhere, but when you leave your home, you're not worrying about how many of them are going to bother you today, if anyone is going to touch you... That's the big difference with Egypt.
I'm living and working here, by choice, because I love this country and its people, I'm a muslim and like to be in a muslim environment.
But it doens't make me blind. I can tell you sometimes, if I had a gun, I would kill all these animal-men in the street, staring at me, sending kiss, talking to me, trying to touch me... Sometimes, I don't even notice them, but when I feel a bit down, or nervous, it's really something I can't stand with. Like Puppy said, me too, I miss my freedom here, freedom of walking in the street without being harrassed above all.
It's really something I miss so much here.

Beside this, there are so many wonderful things I admire so much, that I will never find in my country. But I really understand that this country isn't made for everyone. So many friends of mine who lived here left before the end of their studies/contract because they just couldn't stand anymore. Some spent hours crying in their rooms, refusing to go out alone. Some other made scandals in the street, yelling at these animals (some of them were soldiers...).So, if you can't adjust, yes, it's better to leave.
I feel good here, it's my new home. Oh, Puppy, I wanted to ask you something: do you often come back to your country? You feel a litle down I think, maybe you need to come back home, enjoy freedom, you will feel stronger when you come back here. It happens to me too. I wish you the best!

RaniaMe- Have you ever tried to not look directly at them. In other words invite them? If the men get too pushy I hold my hand up and tell them no, or just keep walking looking at the ground. They stop every time. I've even had some apologize. They just need to see you're serious and not going to budge. I've learned to adjust like I would anywhere, and it doesn't bother me. It does take time though. Just be direct like you would with any guy hitting on you in any country in the world. These men you're talking about are human and no different than any other, and like metioned previously are mild in comparison to other countries I've stayed in. Egyptian men are good and hopefully you'll be able to see them differently as you adjust.

I am actually always walking looking at the ground you know. And I'm someone extremely shy, so no one can think I'm trying to be attractive to them! I'm muslim too, so always dressed modestly. But I'm walking a lot withing a day, taking a lot of public transportation, so it doesn't help either. I mean, if I had a car, I would feel much confortable I think.
Sure I know Egyptians are good, I'm going to marry one! But no, these street guys are not good. They would kill someone doing the same to their daughters/sisters, they know what they are doing is wrong. They are not respecting religion, they are respecting nothing. Hopefully, it will change one day! That's great you can adjust now. All the best for you keepitreal.

Ok, I'll try to talk in a logical manner without swearing.

I'm from Jacksonville, Florida, our state is one of the biggest tourist destinations in the world, and thousands come here to retire every year. At one time we had a very high crime rate, tourist complained of armed robberies and carjackings, the government responded quickly. People feel safe enough to keep making it their spring break destination, and gated communities keep the thugs out of retirement areas.

You are heavily fined for littering in the streets, and its heavily enforced, you could get fined if you dont pick up your dog's poop.

A lady can come from Africa wearing kente cloth, we wouldnt dare tell her you need to dress western, and respect our culture, if she spending tourist dollars we dont care how she is dressed, especially if its not down right offensive. Western women in Egypt dont wear anything these guys cant see on television. Have you ever hesrd the term desensitized, well that's what happens in a country where they are so used to seeing skin and hair, that it no longers turns them on sexually, like it does for these guys, and yes I know men whistle everywhere, but in isolated incidences, you would have to be butt naked to be harrased every other block, the way the men do foreign women here. If a foreign woman walks 10 blocks, I guarantee she would be harrased 8 of them.

Single western women are the largest tour group in Egypt now, believe it or not, and they need to be respected if its to continue.

I cant imagine our Floridians responding to complaints by saying sh** like, it happens in Nigeria, oh it happens in London, no we wont people there spending there money providing jobs, so we respond to what they are complaining about, and stop being so damn defensive about it.

The American businesses respond to the irate consumer, because they know bad news travels faster.

Egypts tourism could quadruple, but someone is going back telling people how disgusting it is, rather than how nice it is and how they cant wait to get back, and again I'm not talking about tourist resorts like , Sharm and Hurghada, because most of the hotels and businesses are foreign owned chains, that know how to cater to tourist and keep them coming back.

I've been to Hong Kong, way more crowded than Cairo, overcrowdness is not an excuse for pollution.

Yaxi drivers in NYC may drive crazy, but they are held liable if someone gets insured in there car, these people drive without car insurance, and if you die, tough luck. And it wouldnt hurt to put up a few traffic lights, and hand out a hell of a lot of tickets to PENALIZE people, thats how they respond, hit them in the pocketbook. bThe cant afford the fine, make them do the time, our jails make people do community service, which includes picking up trash off the highways and other public areas, just a few ideas, but I'm sure some BLANK BLANK is gonna say, well it happens in so and so, and THAT WONT FIX THE PROBLEM!!!

Ok, I see your point. I also see both positive and negative draw backs. Not only could everyday egyptians not afford tickets and fines, they also could not afford the car insurance. I hate to use americas car insurance as a model because as you well know it's very expensive depending on the type of car you drive and many people drive without insurance because of the expense. To be honest, I don't know what would be the resolution to that or how to even start it. The population is close to 20 million....what a task huh!

RaniaMe- Yeah I bet if you had a car it would be a lot better for you. I think it just takes getting used to and just ignore those men or laugh it off....even they will laugh at themselves sometimes. Good luck to you!
