Black Panther Series Coming To All-New, All-Different Marvel

 -

The King of Wakanda is coming to All-New, All-Different Marvel.

As Marvel Comics revealed today, a new Black Panther series will hit comic shelves when the company launches its latest publishing initiative this fall. Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso broke the news during an interview with Mass Appeal, while also confirming that more unannounced All-New, All-Different Marvel titles are on the horizon.

"All-New Marvel Now! is a campaign where there are new #1s across the board – from Spider-Man to Squirrel Girl to stuff we haven’t announced yet, like Black Panther," Alonso told Mass Appeal.

When asked for verification, Marvel confirmed with ComicBook.com that a new Black Panther series is indeed in the works. While a creative team and release date are still under wraps, it’s likely that Marvel will formally announce the title closer to the November 2015 comics solicitation deadline. Earlier today, Marvel exclusively revealed more information on their latest All-New, All-Different title, “Spidey,” with ComicBook.com

Are you ready for a new Black Panther comic series? Who do you want on the creative team? Let us know in the comments, and be sure to stay tuned to ComicBook.com for more Black Panther updates as they break.

SDCC 2015: Avengers #0

All of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including the Ultimates, Deadpool and more, assemble in a special launch issue!

Coming this fall, the Marvel Universe enters an All-New All-Different era and not even Earth’s Mightiest Heroes remain untouched.

To celebrate the new direction and introduce readers to the debuting titles, all the books running under the Avengers banner—ALL-NEW ALL-DIFFERENT AVENGERS, A-FORCE, NEW AVENGERS, ULTIMATES, SQUADRON SUPREME, and UNCANNY AVENGERS—launch from a single issue: AVENGERS #0.

Loosely linked, each tale runs eight pages handled by the main books, creative teams, meaning over the course of 48 pages, fans will be treated to stories from Mark Waid and Mahmud Asrar, James Robinson and Leonard Kirk, G. Willow Wilson and Victor Ibanez, Al Ewing and Kenneth Rocafort, as well as Ewing and Gerardo Sandoval, and finally Gerry Duggan and Ryan Stegman.

For Stegman, the book came as both a surprise and a tremendous opportunity.

“I wasn’t really aware of what the rest of the stories in it would be, but now that I know I’m pretty psyched,” he confesses.

“It’s pretty great,” continues the artist. “The list of other artists is really impressive. Mahmud and I have known each other for ages, we came up on the same message boards showing our art and trying to get better. And to see what he's developed into is really astonishing. And the other guys on the list—I’ve been a fan of them from afar. Plus, it’s just an honor that I get to draw ‘Avengers’ and be included in the Avengers stable of artists.”

The sentiment does not only exist on the artists’ side of the book either. The writers feel equally excited to be part of this launch issue.

“I didn’t ever dream I would write for Marvel, let alone get a crack at some of my favorite characters,” admits Gerry Duggan. “Getting the chance to co-write DEADPOOL felt like a ginormous personal achievement. I’ve always been lucky in collaborators—from [Brian] Posehn and everyone on DEADPOOL, to now breaking stories alongside Mark Waid and all the other talented writers artists and editors in [editor] Tom [Brevoort’s] AVENGERS office—it’s a dream come true.”

Al Ewing echoes much the same feelings about his chance to provide the writing on two of the stories, for ULTIMATES and NEW AVENGERS.

“[It’s] kind of humbling,” the writer acknowledges. “This is slightly out of nowhere for me; while I've been writing comics since 2002, I only recently cut my teeth in the super hero genre, so people digging my work in that area on this level, and giving me these kinds of jobs, is extremely gratifying. Hopefully I won’t blow it now!”

Plot-wise, everyone on the book has been keeping relatively tight lips about AVENGERS #0, but they do not mind dropping some hints.

“The Ultimates story ties in neatly with the A-Force story earlier in the issue; it’s the Ultimates solving a cosmic problem thrown up by some of the events there,” reveals Ewing. “It’s both a little mini-showcase of some of the stuff they'll be dealing with—the scope and weight of literally reality-shattering cosmic events—and also a small-scale, emotional story about one of the members. It’ll be a fun taster for the book as a whole, a kind of starter course before the main meal of issues #1 and #2.”

“The NEW AVENGERS eight-pager is structured almost like a trailer—but it’s also an introduction to the big villain of our run, and maybe of more than just our run depending on how things go,” he states, switching gears. “All together, it’ll give the reader a glimpse into some of the cool events you can expect in the first six months to a year of NEW AVENGERS, and if I’m doing my job, hopefully it’ll convey the kind of enthusiasm we’re bringing to the book.”

The writer concludes, “If the Ultimates story is a starter course for the main book, this is a taster menu: one tiny bite of a whole bunch of cool stories, just enough to leave you hungry for more.”

For Duggan, AVENGERS #0 represents another occasion to deepen the Odd Couple-esque relationship between two of UNCANNY AVENGERS’ key characters.

“The Uncanny Avengers have been assembled by Steve Rogers, and the piece that doesn’t quite fit is Deadpool,” Duggan argues. “In DEADPOOL [in the] ‘The Good, The Bad & The Ugly’ [arc], Steve Rogers discovered that Wade Wilson might be a worthwhile reclamation project. Later we continued to build on that in the DEATH OF WOLVERINE special. The [Uncanny Avengers] story in AVENGERS #0 is another important chapter for this odd couple.”

“Deadpool’s presence might divide fans, and it will certainly divide Avengers,” the writer admits. “I should note that readers that have not been reading DEADPOOL will not be lost. Our story in #0 gives you everything you need to know for the ride that awaits in the pages of UNCANNY AVENGERS.”

In addition to offering fans their first look at each book’s tone, characters, and style, AVENGERS #0 also reveals that every Avenger—and the people they care about—have long been under surveillance from afar. This surprise promises to run throughout the line, although no one will say whether the observer behind it all can be considered friend or foe.

Marvel Promises All-New, All-Different "Black Panther" Series
While King T'Challa -- the long-standing Marvel Comics superhero better known as the Black Panther -- is primed to join the ranks of Marvel moviedom very soon, it appears he'll get another chance at four-color glory first.

 -

This week in his regular Axel-in-Charge column on CBR, Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso promised a new series for the Stan Lee/Jack Kirby creation as part of the ongoing All-New, All-Different lineup of series arriving in the wake of the publisher's "Secret Wars" event.

Discussing the question of greater diversity in comics both on and off the page, Alonso had this to say, "The entire comic book industry benefits from greater diversity, my editors -- who are very racially diverse, by the way -- know that, and you'll see that throughout the 'All-New, All-Different Marvel' [initiative] that continues through February. I am very excited about the stuff we have planned -- especially 'The Totally Awesome Hulk' and 'Black Panther.' Yes, Black Panther."

Of course, that announcement carries with it no creative team as of yet. The Black Panther's previous series from 2011 and 2009 both ended after 12 issues. A previous iteration made it to 41 issues with the majority of the run being written by movie producer Reggie Hudlin.

The character was a part of the All-New, All-Different Marvel teaser that appeared earlier this year, and with his taking over a new solo series, the only player on that image to not yet get a post-"Secret Wars" announcement is Red Wolf -- the hero of the current event tie-in "1872." Earlier this year, Alonso had this to say about the Native American hero: " read '1872' by Gerry Duggan and Nik Virella. Red Wolf is a key character in that series, and the fact that he's included in the teaser means he's pretty darn important to us. If you are at all curious to see your favorite Marvel super heroes and villains -- Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, Dr. Strange -- through the lens of the classic Old West paradigm, that series is for you. It is so much fun. This is not a straight Western."

SuperAfricanAfrofunk crooner Sila Mutungi, has partnered with Visila Comics to produce a new comic series titled ‘SuperAfrican’.

 -

Mutungi states, “African children face problems hard for people from western countries to even conceive of, such as hunger, drought, genocide, extreme poverty and AIDS, and it’s about time they had a hero of their own to look to for inspiration.”

The comic series, set in the year 2045, will follow SuperAfrican as he fights against ‘corruption, greed and ecological injustice in across the African continent’.

All proceeds from the sale of the comics, will be donated to OneMama, an organization committed to empowering women, families, and communities to be successful through sustainable health and education.

The CW has released the first photo of Hawkgirl's (Ciara Renée) and Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) in full costume (The wings will be added later via CGI, Renée told CBR earlier this summer).

 -

Both characters are slated to debut as part of "The Flash's" and "Arrow's" next crossover event (Hawkgirl had a brief cameo on "The Flash's" Season 1 finale) before moving on to join the team on 2016's spinoff series, "DC's Legends of Tomorrow."

As fans of the heroes will quickly note, much like The Flash and Arrow's outfits, the Hawks' look hews closely to their comic book counterparts -- and, if early reports are accurate, so will their relationship.

"[T]he way we’ve imagined them is that they’ve obviously been reincarnated through the ages together, but the fact that he remembers their previous lives and she doesn’t… it gives them very much like a Bogie & Bacall sort of [relationship]," Klemmer revealed earlier this year, explaining how Hawkman's presence is designed to enhance rather than detract from Hawkgirl as a character.

Following their debut on the next "Arrow"/"Flash" crossover, Hawkgirl and Hawkman will join the "Legends of Tomorrow" team of heroes and villains for its limited run in 2016.

Television
“5 Reasons Netflix’s ‘Defenders’ is Exactly What Marvel Needs”

"At this point, we’re all pretty familiar with the heroes of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. Already, we’ve seen three Iron Man films, two Captain Americas, two Avengers, and standalone movies for Thor, Ant-Man, and The Incredible Hulk. The next generation of heroes is on the horizon, but for the most part we know who all the major players are. Things aren’t quite so defined though in terms of Marvel’s TV universe we first got a peek into with Daredevil. The heroes in that world lack the same name recognition as their cinematic counterparts, and in many ways this is exactly what Marvel needs.
The future for Marvel’s Netflix shows is slated to feature individual series for each of Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage, before they all join forces with Daredevil for The Defenders, acting as a different brand of superhero team. For all intents and purposes, these characters will largely stay out of Marvel’s movies, while still functioning in the same universe. It creates an intriguing dynamic, and has the potential to be the perfect yin to the MCU’s yang. Why you ask?
1. The heroes of the Defenders will provide us with more grounded storylines;
The conflicts of heroes in the MCU largely consist of universe-level stakes. It’s all building up to the two-part Infinity War, in a story that will decide the fate of reality itself. As we saw in Daredevil though, lowering the stakes doesn’t have to equal a lesser product. Throughout its first season, we watched as our titular hero dismantled a local crime ring piece by piece, leading into a climactic battle with the Kingpin. Our main villain’s priorities were decidedly small in comparison to that of contemporaries like Ultron, and yet still the excitement and tension ran high.
Most every description we’ve seen of the Defenders tells us they’ll be focused mainly on street level crime, acting as the more grounded and realistic counterparts to the bigger picture Avengers. It’ll function as an ideal break from the “universe is going to explode unless we stop it”-level stakes the MCU specializes in, honing in on character development and smaller scale stories instead…”

The Next Blade Film Will Be Based On Marvel’s New Female Blade

 -

Bleeding Cool has previously reported that the newly to-be-relaunched Blade comic featuring the daughter of Blade, has been delayed.

I understand from well-connected sources that this is due to careful concern from up above the food chain, that the character and the comic are suddenly considered extremely important by the bean counters, and the multi-media folk.

Because the plan is that this new Blade will be the one that features in the next Blade movie.

The first successful movie based on a Marvel comic book, Wesley Snipes’ Blade was an unexpected hit, spawned two sequels and resurrected and remade the vampire hunting daywalker character within the Marvel Universe.

There has been much talk of new Blade films, given the more recent success of many more Marvel movies, and that the rights had returned to Marvel. And Wesley Snipes has been in talk about returning to the character with Marvel.

Could it be as a more fatherly figure?

Is there any limit to the depravity of Whites - specifically the Khazar Turk Ashkenazi ????

Knowing full well that the sparse opportunity granted Black male characters and even nore scarce opportunities given Black female character, they decide to 'feminize' Blade.

....no thought to simple producing a Black female character of which there are a number in the marvel universe which could use fleshing out.

White Supremacy at its finest. The paranoia induced by the baddest Marvel character put to film - a strong copmetent and masculine Black man- demands that Whites destroy the character.

What f@cking racist and sexist degenerates !

...and they think people dont notice what they are doing ...

Ta-Nehisi Coates, Brian Stelfreeze Launch Marvel's New "Black Panther" Series

Coates, Stelfreeze Launch Marvel's New "Black Panther" Series
 -
"Black Panther" returns to Marvel in the spring with a new series from acclaimed author Ta-Nehisi Coates and artist Brian Stelfreeze.

 -
"Black Panther" #1 cover by Brian Stelfreeze.

quote:

A new "Black Panther" series is official at Marvel, with the creative team announced by the New York Times. The book is set to debut this spring, to be written by acclaimed author Ta-Nehisi Coates -- making his comic book debut -- and illustrated by veteran comics artist Brian Stelfreeze.

"I don’t experience the stuff I write about as weighty," Coates, National Correspondent for The Atlantic and the author of National Book Award nominee "Between the World and Me," told the New York Times. "I feel a strong need to express something. The writing usually lifts the weight. I expect to be doing the same thing for Marvel."

In his journalism career, Coates is distinguished for significant work on the topic of diversity and the Black American experience, with lauded articles including "The Case for Reparations" and "Fear of a Black President." He's also made his love for comic books clear on several occasions, in articles such as "The Broad, Inclusive Canvas of Comics," published earlier this year.

Coates cites current Marvel event "Secret Wars" and its writer Jonathan Hickman as an inspiration for his comics work. "You don't come in off the board and come in at that level. But it helps to want it to be great. I want to make a great comic. I really, really do."

The initial "Black Panther" arc is described as a "yearlong storyline," and is titled "A Nation Under Our Feet," a deliberate reference to the 2003 Steven Hahn book of the same name. The Marvel story is said to "find the hero dealing with a violent uprising in his country set off by a superhuman terrorist group called the People."

"It's going to be a story that repositions the Black Panther in the minds of readers," Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso told the NYT. "It really moves him forward."

Marvel's new "Black Panther" series is scheduled to debut next spring.

I have to disagree with these comments.

I have been thinking about this since this was posted and i don't think it has anything to do with sexism, racism or White Supremacy.

The best thing to do is to wait and see what will happen. It could be for the greater good for blade and launch a number of movies or another live action tv show with him sharing the spotlight or him being the main focus.
I think this is a way to freshen it up abit.We are just going to have to wait and see and it could turn out for the best.
I think it will.
So i am keeping a positive mind set about this.

Anyway check out these comments.

There is no case lol.Blade'sie should be about Blade and no one else, period. There'sll lots of story to tell with Blade. He shouldn't be replaced with a brand new character or shoved into the background in favor of his daughter.

Personally, I see this as good. Upper management is basically taking these guys and saying "don't mess this one up."

I'll wait to see how this comic looks though. Robin never took away from Batman, i think the girl Punisher they had in Frank's last book actually elevated his character. Then again, they could use her like they used that cop in Blade's TV show....which would be a disaster.

That's a fair point. It is, after all, way too early to tell.
I was mostly going by the assumption that since Blade's daughter has taken center stage as the main draw to the new book (if marketing is any indication), the alleged movie may have been following suit, or rather setting the standard, in order for the book to capitalize on brand synergy.

Bullshit. You need to do a little more thinking.

You dont destroy solo heroes by talk of making the character female......in moviw nonetheless.

You do not distract from the solo hero by adding idiotic 'team members' like Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Beal....(the last and worst Blade).

This is all abouy the pyschological inability of the White and Jewish execs to accept the bad ass Black man that is Blade and Wesley Snipes as Blade.

Superman is not diluted
Batman is not diluted
Spiderman is not diluted

Why tamper with Blade ???

....give him a team - a white woman and man ???

....change his gender. ????

Please.

We want Blade. And nothing else. Anyone wth a brain can see through this bullshit.

I disagree.
Anyway I thought the last blade movie was okay, not as good as the first the two.
Second for me i have no problem with the new female blade and they are not changing his gender.

There is talk about having that new female thor if male thor is not used in the future for example.
To tell you the truth it would be better if blade had a netflix tv show then a movie and have other black characters take a shot at the big screen.

I see this move as hitting two birds with one stone however.
These talks may not even be about a movie but maybe a netflix movie or show.

Anyway it's best to wait and see what happens, because it could be for the best and could still be good for future blade movies/shows in the long run and there would be a new popular black female superhero out of this and her having the blade name could/would help.

I can't speak for anyone else but for me i am taking a wait and see mindset, and the movie might still be an original blade focus movie or at least a shared one.
If it's a shared movie or still focus on his daughter, then i still will not have any problems with that.
At least another black female superhero would get alot more focus on the big screen and that's postive.

As I said, when u know the nature of a thing, you know what it is capable of.

You want to know something else ???

'Taika Waititi (born 16 August 1975), also known as Taika Cohen, is a New Zealand film director, writer, painter, comedian, and actor.'

'Waititi hails from the Raukokore area of the East Coast region of New Zealand.[3] His father is Maori of Te Whānau-ā-Apanui and his mother is Jewish.[4][5] Waititi used his mother's surname, "Cohen", for some of his work in film and writing.[6]'

This white man with a tan is also a Khazar Turk "Jew". ....of course Marvel knows this....

So why the charade about 'diversity' ??

-f@cking degenerates.....

REPORT: Joe Robert Cole In Talks To Write "Black Panther"
 -

http://www.comicbookresources.com:8080/imgsrv/social_post/530/0/1/FB-panther_9.jpg

Joe Robert Cole is reportedly in the process of finalizing a deal to write the screenplay for "Black Panther."

REPORT: Joe Robert Cole In Talks To Write "Black Panther"
Joe Robert Cole is currently in negotiations to write the screenplay for "Black Panther," as reported by The Wrap. Cole comes from the same in-house writer's program that Nicole Perlman was part of when she wrote the first draft of "Guardians of the Galaxy." The announcement mentions that Cole was rumored to have written a script for "Inhumans," and a Collider report from last year indicates that the rumor may be true. The Wrap has heard that Cole's "Inhumans" script is not expected to be used.

So far the only sure thing about "Black Panther" is its lead, Chadwick Boseman. No other actors have been cast for the film, although Andy Serkis is expected to reprise his "Avengers: Age of Ultron" role of Ulysses Klaue, a character known for being a Black Panther foe in the comics.

The search for a director for "Black Panther" has also not resulted in a contract; "Selma" director Ava DuVernay passed on the picture and, according to the Wrap's report, F. Gary Gray ("Straight Outta Compton") is apparently also out of the running, possibly due to his potential involvement in the "Fast and Furious" franchise.
"Black Panther" opens on July 6, 2018.

Marvel Announces "Power Man & Iron Fist" By Walker & Greene

 -

Marvel has announced via Fast Company that Luke Cage and Daniel Rand are teaming up again. The pair will star in a new volume of "Power Man and Iron Fist," written by David Walker with art from Sanford Greene. Walker is currently writing "Cyborg" for DC Comics while Greene handled art duties on Marvel's "Secret Wars" tie-in series "Runaways."

"About a year ago or so, [Marvel editor] Axel Alonso asked me to list all the characters that I wanted to work with the most," said Walker in the Fast Company announcement. "He said, ‘Don’t be limited -- go as big as you want.’ At the very top of that list were Luke Cage and Danny Rand, and I put in parentheses after their names: ‘as a team.’ Because this was something that I’d wanted to see for years and years. That particular duo, they’re so iconic. As a writer, you love interesting characters, and those two characters are so fun to delve into. They are the ultimate bromantic couple."

Artist Greene is also proud to be working on the new "Power Man and Iron Fist" series. "Growing up as an African-American kid, you identify with these characters," said Greene. "Luke was one of those characters that impacted me. And it was always a dream project to get to work on him. It was the cherry on top to find out it would be Iron Fist as well."

While specific details about the book's contents were kept under wraps, the creative team did mention that they are working on portraying this partnership -- the first time they've co-lead a book since the late '90s "Heroes for Hire" series -- in a way that acknowledges how much they've both grown. After all, Luke Cage is married (to Jessica Jones) and has a daughter now.

Walker also used the announcement to speak to the major push for diversity that has been unfolding at mainstream comic publishers over the past year.

"People use the words diversity and representation a lot these days, but it’s important to draw the distinction between diversity and representation being a marketing ploy versus an ideological shift," said Walker. "Saying, ‘This is how I want to live my life, this is how I want to run my business.’ It’s a difficult conversation to have for a lot of people for a lot of different reasons. This particular project has been in development for quite some time -- and during that time, people were blasting Marvel and DC and other publishers about their lack of diversity and representation, but then you’re sitting there at a convention wanting to go, ‘Hey! Guess what book I’m writing!’ but you can’t. Then a book gets announced, like 'Black Panther,' and there were people who were like, ‘Oh, yeah, Marvel just got those guys to shut all the critics up.’ I’m like -- they got a guy who is one of the best writers in the country right now! You can’t broker a deal like that over a weekend, you know? It takes time."

This announcement comes ahead of both characters' television debuts; Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter, will debut in the Netflix series "Jessica Jones" on November 20 before getting his own show, "Luke Cage," in 2016. "Iron Fist," which has not announced any cast members yet, will follow on Netflix sometime later.
