Jaden Smith Confirmed As Static Shock By Tyler James Williams
During a recent interview, actor Tyler James Williams (The Walking Dead, Everybody Hates Chris) pointed out that "there aren't a lot of young, black superheroes." Two people in the background can be heard shouting to him "Static Shock" and "Spider-Man." Those suggestions elicit an interesting response from Williams.
"I don't know... What you're taking about," Williams says to Flicks And The City with a knowing smile. "But yeah no, it's great to see Static Shock is happening with Jaden."
The "Jaden" he refers to, is Will Smith's After Earth co-star and real-life son Jaden. Back in October, Smith was rumored for Static Shock, which Warner Bros. has been developing as a live-action digital series with Django Unchained producer Reginald Hudlin.
Static Shock features the character Static, originally created in 1993 by Dwayne McDuffie, Robert L. Washington III, and John Paul Leon for Milestone Comics, the short-lived DC Comics imprint meant to increase representation of African-American creators and characters. Static, whose real name is Virgil Hawkins, possesses electricity-based powers.

RUMOR: "Green Lantern" Reboot To Feature Multiple GLs, Chris Pine
If new rumors are to be believed, then it looks like Hal Jordan will have to share the title of Green Lantern when he makes his return to the big screen as part of Warner Bros.' shared DC movie universe. As Collider has learned from an unnamed source, the "Green Lantern" reboot is rumored to include more than one emerald-hued superhero. Hal Jordan, John Stewart and Guy Garder are referenced in the article, with rumors positing that two -- or perhaps all three -- will have a part to play in the 2020 film.
The rumors also specify that the new "Green Lantern" franchise will never focus on just one member of the Green Lantern Corps. It's also a possiblity that Warner Bros. will reveal who their Green Lanterns are during their big presentation in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con. So far, Green Lantern is the only "Justice League" hero that remains uncast; Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ezra Miller (Flash) and Ray Fisher (Cyborg) have all been announced already.
Latino Review has also weighed in on the rumor, refining it slightly to say that they've heard there will just be two GLs: Hal Jordan and John Stewart. The site also hints that the rumors about Chris Pine circling the role of Steve Trevor in "Wonder Woman" was actually a red herring and the "Star Trek" star is actually in talks for Hal Jordan.
"Green Lantern" opens on June 19, 2020. Green Lantern himself -- or himselves -- is expected to appear in "Justice League Part 1" on November 17, 2017.

Kubert Joins Waid, Asrar On Marvel's "All-New, All-Different Avengers"
Solidifying Marvel's plans for "All-New, All-Different Avengers," The Wall Street Journal reports this morning that artist Adam Kubert will join writer Mark Waid and artist Mahmud Asrar, the creative team behind the Free Comic Book Day introduction to the new line-up, on the series, which will ship more than 12 issues a year.
Teased in a series of promos leading up to a Free Comic Book Day issue, the title's lineup features Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man (Miles Morales), Captain America (Sam Wilson), Thor (Jane Foster), Nova and Vision.
“I like the fact that we ended up with an Avengers team with one white guy on it," Waid told the newspaper.
Executive Editor Tom Brevoort added, “I think that potentially gives you a wider chance to connect with a wider spectrum of the audience who may be able to see and invest themselves in the characters."
Debuting in the fall, the series will first pit these Avengers against Warbringer, a Chitauri warlord who's troubled Nova.
However, the the team will also face far less cosmic foes -- namely a budget and a limited schedule for superheroics.
“They’re poor, and they have to manage their assets,” Brevoort told the Journal, noting the team doesn't have unlimited funding. “Another new wrinkle: Half the team goes to school. They’ve got hours of operation, and if they get stuck in Zimbabwe, somebody’s going to have to write the absentee slips.”

Marvel Announces "Squadron Supreme" From Robinson, Kirk
Following the reveal of "All-New, All-Different Avengers" by Mark Waid, Mahmud Asrar and Adam Kubert, another superhero team will assemble in the post-"Secret Wars" Marvel Universe. Writer James Robinson and artist Leonard Kirk will chronicle the adventures of "Squadron Supreme" in their first ongoing series since 2008, as revealed over on Marvel.com.

"[A]lthough they are somewhat classic icons they’re also versions that have not had a lot of exposure," said Robinson of the super-team in the announcement interview. "So yes, the name Doctor Spectrum as part of the Squadron Supreme has for instance, had some cache and some value but the version that I’m using, which is the one from the Great Society, is a relatively new version from one of the worlds created and then destroyed by Jonathan Hickman. So, taking this Doctor Spectrum as an example, she’s somewhat of a blank slate. In fact, it will be many issues until we see her without her mask on and see her face. That character is that much of a blank slate I’m really adding everything to her and also I’m having quite a lot of fun with her; Jonathan only had a few issues to really deal with everything."
Created by Roy Thomas and John Buscema, the Squadron Supreme first appeared as heroes of a parallel universe in 1971's "Avengers" #85. The team got their first series as headliners in 1985. This new version of the Squadron will feature members pulled from multiple destroyed worlds. The cast will include the Great Society's Doctor Spectrum, the Nighthawk from "Supreme Power," Blur from the New Universe's DP 7, and the Hyperion featured in Jonathan Hickman's "Avengers" run. "I’m having a lot of fun with the flashbacks and memories that the Squadron members have of their past," said Robinson, "showing that they all came from interesting worlds so that hopefully it will be sad that those worlds no longer exist and so the readers kind of get some of the feeling that our characters are going through."
Kirk added in the interview that he will use the flashbacks as an opportunity to reference imagery from previous comics. "One of the ideas that James had that I think is a good one is shifting my style to match more the artwork from those various previous appearances," said Kirk. "So it’s a bit more jarring visually [as] the artwork looks more like it did in the original publications from years ago. I do enjoy doing flashbacks."
Robinson has become a Marvel mainstay over the past few years after enjoying a lengthy career with DC Comics. The writer worked on Marvel team books like "All-New Invaders" and "Fantastic Four"; he is currently writing the "Secret Wars" series "Armor Wars." "Squadron Supreme" pairs Robinson up with his "Fantastic Four" collaborator Leonard Kirk. The artist has a history of working on team books, having also previously worked on "X-Factor," "New Mutants" and "Captain Britain and MI13."
While Squadron headliner Hyperion recently played a prominent role in "Avengers," which culminated with "Secret Wars," the rest of the team has kept a relatively low profile. The franchise did receive a "Secret Wars" series in Marc Guggenheim and Carlos Pacheco's "Squadron Sinister," which is currently on the stands. This squadron, though, will have a much more altruistic mission than that team -- but they'll still have a dark edge.
"In terms of the characters, their attitude is that they’ve all lost their own worlds and they’ve got to save this world no matter what," said Robinson. "So at times that will put them often at odds with the Avengers... They’re willing to do a lot of things that turn people off. They aren’t necessarily adverse to a degree of damage, collateral damage. They can seem a little cold blooded and ruthless but their idea is 'we have a planet to save.' And if that means we have to sacrifice a few people to do it, we will. "

Is the Identity of TOTALLY AWESOME HULK This TOTALLY Obvious?
Thursday morning Marvel revealed that the new Hulk book in this fall's "All-New All-Different Marvel" would be Totally Awesome Hulk by Greg Pak and Frank Cho. From the original announcement of this line-wide initiative, Marvel had placed a mystery on the identity of this new Hulk, with Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso stating it would be someone who's never been a Hulk before.
Pak and Cho said the mystery will be solved in the outset of Totally Awesome Hulk's debut issue. While that's months away, we suspect the rumors are likely right this time and to paraphrase former Arizona Cardinals head coach Dennis Green (somewhat appropriately) the Hulk will be who we think he is.
While the obscured teaser image released with the Totally Awesome Hulk announcement gave more questions than answers, several of the comments made by Pak, a long-time writer of the Hulk in the past, gave us some clues that point to one former supporting star of the book as the next jade giant.
Amadeus Cho.
Created by Pak and Takeshi Miyazawa, who just recently returned to the character in a Planet Hulk #1 back-up.
Here's how our theory plays out:
Three Words Greg Pak's already had a long run on the Incredible Hulk title and on with the World War Hulk miniseries after that. Although he had some stories left to tell, Pak said himself he wasn't "pining" to return. So what brought him back? Three words from editor Mark Paniccia apparently.
Presumably, one of those words would be "Hulk" but what would the other two words be?

Hulk Love
"The new Hulk absolutely loves being the Hulk," says Pak. Doesn't narrow it down much in itself more than the already stated fact of it not being a previous Hulk such as Bruce Banner. But which characters associated with the Hulk seemed to like the idea of being green and not consider it the burden that Banner does?
Amadeus Cho was certainly one of them in Pak's original Incredible Hulk run.
Big Mouth Strikes Again
While the original Hulk isn't known to be much of a talker, Pak says that this new Hulk has "a pretty big mouth on him." Several of Hulk's former sidekicks like Rick Jones and Amadeus Cho have been chatty to counter-balance the monosyllabic tendencies of Banner's Hulk.
MCU Tie-Ins
While the drought on Hulk movies is well-talked about, Marvel has made it a point to refer to Amadeus Cho on several occasions in its movies. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Claudia Kim portrayed a geneticist named Helen Cho - coincidentally, the same name as Amadeus Cho's mother. Both characters are from South Korea, with the Helen Cho of comic books later moving with her husband to Arizona.
And in the novelization of 2008's The Incredible Hulk movie, Peter David names Martin Starr's unnamed "computer nerd" character Amadeus Cho despite Starr not being Korean.
Marvel also included Cho in the recent animated film Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & The Punisher.
The Key
Pak says that the "key supporting character" of Totally Awesome Hulk is a "very important character" who had been "mentioned" previously but never actually appeared. If you consider Pak's previous Marvel stories, arguably the most notable of that would be Madame Curie Cho, "Maddy" Cho. She's the sister to Amadeus Cho, originally thought murdered with her family but later discovered to be abducted by the Excello group in Incredible Hercules. Cho briefly had plans to track her down, but the storyline got lost in the cracks and never resolved.
In a 2011 MTV Geek interview, Pak and Incredible Hercules co-writer Fred Van Lente called the dangling storyline of Maddy Cho something they hope to resolve someday, with Pak stating "Absolutely!"
Cho-On-Cho Action
While it's just a coincidence that Amadeus Cho shares the same last name as series artist Frank Cho, that artist has used Amadeus previously in his arc on Savage Wolverine. And interestingly, that arc written and drawn by Cho features Amadeus with his hair styled to point up very similiar to the obscured head in the Totally Awesome Hulk promo image.
Hubris
Pak describes Totally Awesome Hulk as "packed with hyperbole and hubris, which is pretty darn appropriate when you find out who this new Hulk actually is." You know who else Pak as described as having hubris? Amadeus Cho, whom Greg Pak co-created and later paired with Bruce Banner's Hulk as a sidekick.
In a 2010 interview promoting Cho's Heroic Age: Prince of Power, Pak described Cho as having "a huge amount of confidence and hubris".
Pak's recently returned to writing Amadeus Cho and Hulk-centric stories in a back-up story to Planet Hulk #1. The story provided an origin to the Hulk-infested planet at the center of the series, with the hook being that Amadeus Cho had something to do with its creation.

He had a son from a brief love affair with Leeja. His son is known as the Last Rai.
In the new Valiant Universe, Rai defends New Japan in 4001 A.D. from internal threats. He serves the mysterious Father, a figure shrouded in secrets. He is currently working with Lula Lee, a teenage girl, to solve a case involving the first murder in a millennium. This Rai also has a deep connection to Dr. Silk.
In 2015, after several leaked reports that Valiant had begun developing its characters for film, including word that they had partnered with Sony Pictures to produce a Bloodshot film, it was formally announced that Valiant had secured a nine-figure investment from DMG Entertainment and intended to co-finance feature films based on its comic books including Bloodshot with Sony Pictures.

The Ultimates Is Back With Al Ewing And Kenneth Rocafort #MarvelOctober
Today, we have a lot of Marvel news coming through about their All-New All-Different Marvel relaunch in October. It’s a rule. The Ultimates series has to be written by a Brit to be successful.
And now it will again, with Al Ewing writing and Kenneth Rocafort snatched from DC Comics to draw the book.
But don’t be looking for Ultimate Universe characters… we have Black Panther, Blue Marvel, Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, Ms America Chavez and Galactus.

Live-Action 'Attack On Titan' Movies Will Invade America
They invade San Diego first, its a bit too late to build a wall…
Attack on Titan, the manga and anime sensation about humanity's battle against almost unstoppable giants, is getting a live-action version to debut later this Summer. Up until today, the only countries confirmed to be getting the two-part movies were Australia and New Zealand.
Now comes word that FUNimation -- who licensed the anime for the West -- is not only bringing the live-action movie to America (North, Central, and South), they are bringing it to the USA first. Yes, the first Attack on Titan live-action movie will have its world premiere at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on Tuesday, July 14 in Japanese with English subtitles. The movie will start in Japan on August 1 (the 2nd part hits theaters September 19).
The movie will get a wider American release this Fall. FUNimation also secured home entertainment, video on demand, and broadcast rights to the film in the Americas. No word on if they will be bringing the companion live-action television specials to the West.

Biography Addileon is the second son of Addison B. Hall though he is the first child spawned from the union between Addison & his wife, A-MiSha-D, a woman of the original Nubia before it was destroyed. Addison, Addileon’s father, belonged to a group of heroic adventurers in his youth named the Black Death, whose varying abilities were a direct result of exposure to an ancient godlike being named Beta Demonicus, the second of the Great Evils of Nubia. When a group of acolytes attempted to combine the powers of two evils in Addison they thought their attempts had failed. Later they found that their aspirations had been realized within his son Addileon, whose molecular structure was in constant undetectable subatomic flux. These reconfigurations stabilized when he reached the age of 14, and he was accosted by a minion of a former rival of his father who was sent to abscond with the boy from his school. His abilities manifested themselves & he defeated the foe. The original members of Black Death have an inherent ability to detect the awakenings of individuals when their powers first proliferate. This aptitude notified his father & his uncle, James, in particular. Addileon was, at first, reluctant to accept his birthright. After the cajoling of his father & a literally out of the blue encounter with his uncle, William James Hall, Addileon came to acknowledge his capabilities & then acquiesced to their demand. It was then that he was sent to stay with his uncle William for a summer to be trained in the use of his power.
Skills and Abilities: Unknown Powers: Addileon can generate a yet unmeasured amount of energy that, when powered up, emanates off his body in a visible crimson hued luminescence known as the Krimson Flame. This power comes directly from the fusion of the powers of the two ancient Nubian Evils. He can focus this energy into differing points of his body to augment their attributes. Addileon can also manipulate this energy as to create projectiles of various degrees, strengths & sizes. He has an affinity of creating energy balls & energy beams. He’ll also fire energy daggers & eye beams. Addileon also has the ability to create two-dimensional rifts in space time (portals), through which an object can pass, thereby displacing it to a separate location. In it, Rashan N’Shanga, tight end & first round draft pick of his hometown LA Archangels, is about to embark on his professional career when life—both mortal & immortal—intrudes. Upon graduating from college, Rashan learns that he is much more than a talented athlete. Rashan learns that his father was / is actually the Kemetic god of war: Anhur.
This alone makes Rashan an immortal. But in addition to this, Rashan also houses the latent faculties of a “departed” sun god: Menthu. This makes the young man doubly powerful. And it makes him doubly dangerous to his potential enemies.
These enemies include Haitian-born & Vodoun-powered Trouble Man, narcissistically gorgeous & felonious Sirocco, the angel with an attitude, Tzadqiel, the powerful demon, Carniveau, & Egypt’s ultimate immortal of chaos & discord, Set.
Skills and abilities: Menthu, as a sun god, is able to manifest light, as both particles & as waves. With concentration, he is able to manifest light particles into solid objects, manipulate & move light (creating localized spots of shadows or brightness). He can—with concentration—bend light waves to enable himself to see something “invisible” & to temporarily make invisible a “seen” object (though this is tiring for him to do).
Powers: solar-based; super-strong; super-fast; flight (up to 25,000 miles per hour on Earth [dealing with friction, gravity & such]; 3X this speed in space); in future storylines, Menthu will learn that he can become one with light, enabling himself (& a limited amount of IMMEDIATE fellow travelers—not more than 3 or 4–or not-too-heavy objects) to move at the speed of light. Again, such an effort is temporarily taxing. He can generate & control concussive or plasma “sun bolts,” which emanate from his hands. (NO BEAMS FROM HIS EYES.) Being an Egyptian god’s offspring & also receiving a past god’s latent abilities, Menthu is among the most powerful of the Egyptian pantheon’s immortals. As such, he’s sometimes caught up in the pantheon’s politicks (though he has no such politicking aspirations).

The Ultimates Provide Proactive Protection Al Ewing assembles the most powerful team in the Marvel Universe to deal with Galactus and other massive challenges!
The world has changed. It no longer resembles the era that gave birth to the Avengers. A new time deserves a new kind of super hero team. Writer Al Ewing and artist Kenneth Rocafort intend to give fans exactly that in ULTIMATES.
With a heavy emphasis on science and exploration, this new assemblage have more on their mind then simply being the team that arrives in the nick of time to put down the bad guys. If their missions succeed, there will be no nick of time at all. However, Ewing recognizes that proactivity does not come without quandaries.
“There are going to be some moral debates—when the problems you’re dealing with are sentient or even above-sentient cosmic creatures, how do you ‘solve’ them?” he questions. “At the same time, someone’s got to deal with these long-running, world-threatening issues. You can put up with a leaky roof if you have to—you can't put up with a collapsing house.”
“Science and exploration feels like something very positive, a general good—it helps mitigate some of those moral concerns,” continues the writer. “I think an emphasis on expanding knowledge makes the team a lot more interesting and sympathetic than, say, a mission to beat people up in the name of preserving the current social order.”
Looking to do more than keep the status quo status demands a strong lineup and ULTIMATES more than meets this challenge with a roster that boasts Blue Marvel, Spectrum, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Miss America Chavez.
“It’s basically a mix of power levels and general interest,” reveals Ewing. “I wanted to continue telling Adam’s and Monica’s stories [from MIGHTY AVENGERS], so they were definitely in, and then we ended up picking characters with a big, passionate fan base who’d mesh well and bounce interestingly off each other—and who were incredibly, hugely powerful too. This was always a cosmic team for cosmic threats; only the most powerful, physically, mentally or politically, need apply.”
The writer remains dedicated to telling stories with characterization, no matter the size of the cosmic threat bearing down on them.
“Well, there’s obvious chemistry that's been building with Adam and Monica, and some drama between Adam and T'Challa, the potential for some robust debate,” he acknowledges. “Monica and Carol spark off each other well. MAC, meanwhile, is almost the outsider, and judging their ability to do a job she’s been doing since she was a kid.
“Really, any of the five will react with any other, which is the mark of a fun team.”
Ewing and Rocafort will be giving the team plenty to react to immediately out of the gate.
“We start off very much in media res: the team [is] fully set up, they’ve got all their equipment in place and they're ready to kick ass,” the writer promises. “Scientifically!”
Will science and proactivity be enough to meet the trial of a certain purple cosmic entity though?
“We do have some Galactus-shaped plans—but what they are will remain top secret,” Ewing tantalizingly drops. “And I don’t think anyone’s guessed them yet.”
Nonetheless, as ULTIMATES #1 opens, Ewing makes it clear where all eyes will be looking:
“The focus is where it should be: on the Devourer of Worlds!”

‘G.I. Joe’s’ Elodie Yung to Play Elektra in ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’

Elodie Yung has been cast as Elektra in the second season of “Marvel’s Daredevil,” Variety has confirmed. The character is a favorite of fans of the Marvel comicbooks that serve as the basis for the popular Netflix series, which stars Charlie Cox as justice-seeking lawyer/vigilante Matt Murdock. Although she was hinted at in season one, Elektra has yet to appear in the series. The casting description simply describes her as “a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle.” (Jennifer Garner portrayed Elektra in the 2003 “Daredevil” movie and in the 2005 spinoff). Yung, a French-born actress, is best known for roles in “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” and David Fincher’s “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” “Marvel’s Daredevil” returns to Netflix in 2016 with Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez stepping in to fill Steven DeKnight’s shoes as showrunner. The series comes via Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix.

[SDCC’15] All-New All-Different Avengers Launches In Avengers #0
Today during a panel regarding the future of Marvel‘s most popular cross-media superhero team it was announced that the All-New All-Different Avengers would launch in October with a 0-issue. Avengers #0 will be an anthology book sold for $5.99 that sets up other titles and teams spinning out of these stories. It is to be co-authored and co-arted by the creative teams involved.
Avengers #0 will features stories and team members from All-New All-Different Avengers, A-Force, Squadron Supreme, Ultimates, New Avengers and Uncanny Avengers.
Additionally, Avengers #0is also set to reveal which character from the Marvel U has been keeping close watch on the Avengers and how threatening they may turn out to be.
