Nyambe, Aganju (Lusa), Orishaka, Olokun (grandsons),
Asase-Ya, Yemanja (Mawu), (granddaughters),
Shango, Ogun, Maou, Gun, Loco, Zaca, Legba, Damballah, Sagbata (Baron Samedi), Anansi, Mmoboro, Onini, Osebo, (great-grandsons);
Erzulie, Avlekete, Ayaba, Faa, (great-granddaughters);

Aliases: Olorun (Yoruba name), Chuku (Ibo name), Chiuke (Ewe name), Buku (Bantu name), Akongo (Congo name), Akuj (Kenya name), Mantis (Bushman name), Muluk (Mozambique), Ndriananahary (Razenes of Malagasy), Nyame (Ashanti), Quangi (Zulu),
Ruler of the Great Beyond

Base of Operations: Ala (African heaven), Iku (African Underworld)

First Appearance: Thor I#300 (October, 1980)

Powers/Abilities: Buluku possesses greater powers than any of the other African gods. On a class equal to Ouranus and Atum-Re, he might have superhuman strength (Class 100), stamina, resistance to harm and the ability to tap into and manipulate the universe’s ambient cosmic energies as well as certain undefined occult energies. The use of his power has yet to be demonstrated.

History: (African Myth) - Buluku is the ancestral spirit of the Vodu, the collective gods of Africa. Possibly descended from the Hyborian gods, he mated with Gaea in her role as Nana and fathered the Orishas, the ancient Earth gods of Africa. Among the Orishas, Nyambe succeeded Buluku as god of heaven. Aganju, however, in his role as the Dahoman sun god Lusa, fathered the Loa with Yemanja, his sister in the role of Mawu. The Loa eventually became the main gods of African religion.

(Thor I#300 (fb)) - <1000 AD> - Buluku was present in the Council of Godheads, where the gods debated how to deal with the Celestials. They were eventually forced to realize that the Celestials could destroy their realms, and so they acceded to the Celestials edict that they sever relations with mortals and stop trafficking on Earth.

(Doctor Strange III#17, 20) - In 1492, Sagbata, the god of misfortune, gave mortals the ability to create zombies a spell he created in tangent with the Elder God Chthon. Restricted from interfering in the lives of mortals by the Celestials, Buluku and the African Gods joined forces to transform the mortal, Laurent, into the first Brother Voodoo to combat the evils unleashed by Sagbata.

(Thor I#301)- In order to save the Asgardian gods, who had been killed when the Celestials melted the Destroyer, which had been housing their life forces--Thor visited each of the Godheads, petitioning them to donate a portion of life force. Each Godhead eventually agreed to donate, and the Asgardian gods were resurrected

(Thor Annual I#10) - Buluku sent Shango helped Thor defeat the entity Demogorge. Briefly consumed by the creature, he was freed when it rejected Thor.

(Thor I#398)- Two African Gods, Buluku and another, possibly Nyambe and Anansi, sensed the Enchantress' grief as she raged over the apparent death of Heimdall.

(Marvel Universe: The End#2)- A group of Godheads met to discuss the actions of Akhenaten against humanity: Atar (Vedic/Persian), Horus (Egyptian), Hunab Ku (Mayan), Izanagi (Japanese), frican), Shou-Hsing (Chinese), Thor (Asgardian), Vishnu (Hindu), Zeus (Olympian), and Ndriananahary (Buluku). They also discussed summoning Those of the Forgotten Realm. Horus, who was most familiar with Akhenaten used the Eye of Ra to spy on the powerful being, but Akhenaten detected them and attacked, destroying all present, except Thor and Zeus, who managed to flee.

(Marvel Universe: The End#4 - BTS) - Thanos gained the virtually unlimited power of the Heart of the Infinite and altered time so that Akhenaten never gained his power, effectively undoing his actions and restoring those he had destroyed. However, to those who could understand or even remember what had happened, these actions were seen as the replacement of one threat with another, perhaps even worse.

(Marvel Universe: The End#5-6) - The Godheads joined together with a multitude of heroes and villains from Earth and the rest of the universe to oppose Thanos, who had gained supreme power from the Heart of the Infinite. Thanos easily wiped out every single being in the universe, but later was convinced by Adam Warlock to sacrifice himself to restore the universe to its previous state.

(Incredible Hercules#116-117) - Ndriananahary (Buluku) attended the Council of Godheads meeting gathered by Athena to prepare a force with which to combat the Skrullian gods.

Comments: Adapted by Roy Thomas, Jean-Marc Lofficier, Dan Thomas, and Jim Valentino.

It is unsure if any of the ancestor gods of myth such as Buluku, Ouranus, Atum-Re, Tecumotzin, Hunab-Ku, or Gitche Manitou, at least in the Marvel Universe, are one and the same deity. It would seem unlikely, at least for Buluku, as he has been seen interacting with the Marvel Universe in the last millennia or so.

In African myth, Nana-Buluku was the ancestor god of the African Gods, a deity combining both female and male characteristics, but this is actually a combination of the names of the earth and sky deities.

According to Doctor Strange II#17, the Spanish invading Haiti confused Vodu, the name of the African Gods with "Vaudois" and called it Voodoo. The stories also suggest zombies did not exist before that time so earlier accounts of zombies and living dead must have been created by other gods and/or entities.

Other members of the Council of God Kings shown from other issues includes Zeus, Odin, Osiris, Vishnu, Tezcatlipoca, Itzamna, Viracocha, Nuada, Svaros, Manabozho and Quetzalcoatl in at least one alternate reality--that's not all of them. See the Godhead profile--Snood. The gods of the Mesopotamian pantheon by several accounts seem to have degenerated into to demonic entities. As yet, no gods from Finno-Ugrian myth have appeared in the Marvel Universe except on the names of several individuals from the Hyborian Age. The only figure to appear from Oceanic myth is Pele the volcano-goddess.

My book on African spirits places a lot of importance as Nyambe as ruler, judge and Great Spirit. Lusa is mentioned only as the sun-god who fathered the Great Twins of which Shango and Damballah are two of. In the MU, I would surmise that Buluku supersedes them both to keep disension out of the Voodoo Gods and their relations the Orishas.

Profile by Snood & Will U

(What If II#38) In an alternate quantum reality, Buluku, representing the gods of the Orishas and the Loa, met with the other god-kings of the other pantheons to discuss the threat of Seth invading Asgard. Mephisto also attended the conference to represent the gods of death.

CLARIFICATIONS: Buluku should not be confused with:

Aboriginal Gods

Australian Gods

The Aboriginal gods are a race of superhumanly powerful humanoid beings who have been worshipped by the Australian Aboriginal peoples from approximately 8,000 BC into modern times. Most of the Aboriginal gods dwell in Alchera, a realm bordering the "Dream Dimension" of the demon Nightmare within the Dreamtime, the collective unconsciousness of all sentient beings in the universe. Very little is known about Alchera other than it appears to be one of countless planetary objects that exist within the Dreamtime and cannot be comprehended through reason. The Aboriginal gods are called different names by their human worshipers; for example, the god of creation Baiame is know as "Bunjil" by the Kulin, the "Minawara" by the Nambutji, "Karora" by the Gurra, and "Wuragag" by the Gunwinggu. Unlike many of their counterparts in other Earth-based pantheons, the Aboriginal gods are still actively invoked and worshiped on Earth by a handful of remote Aboriginal tribal groups.

The Aboriginal gods' precise origin, like that of all Earth's pantheons, is shrouded in legend. According to ancient myths, the god Altjira could not depart the Dreamtime without losing his powers. However, he directed the other Aboriginal gods to temporarily leave the Dreamtime and descend to the Australian continent within the Earth realm eons ago when the land was barren and featureless. The gods then proceeded to shape the landscape according to Altjira's plan; Julunggul, the Rainbow Serpent, dug deep into subterranean waterholes and began to carve out gullies that became rivers; while Baiame gave form to the mountains and forests. However, Marmoo, the god of evil, grew jealous of the newly created world and, believing that it was more difficult to destroy than to create, set out to prove his abilities by fashioning a tribe of insectoid warriors in his own grotesque image. When Marmoo sent his insect swarms to ravage the landscape, the Earth Mother Gaea (known to the Aboriginal gods as "Dilga" and "Nungeena," among other names) wove flowers together and transformed them into a flock of lyrebirds that attacked and defeated the insect horde.

Over one hundred millennia ago, Orphan - a sentient extraterrestrial device capable of telepathic communication and transforming dreams into reality - crash-landed on Earth in the Australian outback. It was eventually located by an Aboriginal tribe, who venerated it and regarded it as their own link to the Dreamtime, reinforcing their belief in Altjira and his progeny.

Approximately 10,000 years ago, Julunggul the Rainbow Serpent shed her skin. Altjira collected this skin, stretched it over the frame of night, and sealed it with the kiss of sleep to create a great vessel capable of sailing through the Dreamtime to any realm inhabited by gods, regardless of their shape or form.

In modern times, when the X-Men's Longshot attempted to enter the Dreamtime, he was attacked and rendered unconscious by Altjira, who had left the Dreamtime - albeit without his full powers. Later, when the Olympian god Athena convened a meeting of the Council of Godheads to address an impending Earth invasion by the extraterrestrial Skrulls, Altjira was present to represent the Aboriginal gods' interests. After a team of gods from various Earth-based pantheons were chosen to lead a preemptive assault against the Skrull gods, Altjira contributed the Dreamtime vessel, which he had constructed from the Rainbow Serpent's skin 10,000 years earlier. This vessel allowed the Earth gods to traverse the Dreamtime and lead a direct attack on the Skrull gods, although it was destroyed in the battle.

Powers and Abilities
Powers

Superhuman Strength: All members of the Aboriginal pantheon possess some degree of superhuman strength. Though not as physically powerful as some other pantheons, such as the Asgardians or Olympians, the average male Aboriginal god is able to lift about 20 tons while the average goddess is able to lift about 10 tons.

Superhuman Speed: Each member of the pantheon is able to run and move at speeds that are beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human specimen, though the upper limit of the speed varies between members.

Superhuman Stamina: The musculature of the Aboriginal gods is much more efficient than that of a human being. Their muscles produce considerably less fatigue toxins during physical activities than those of humans. The average Aboriginal god and goddess can exert themselves at peak capacity for roughly 24 hours before the build up of fatigue toxins in their blood begins to impair them.

Superhuman Durability: The skin, bone and muscle tissues of the gods are much tougher and more resistant to physical injury than the bodies of humans. The average Aboriginal god and goddess is capable of withstanding falls from great heights, exposure to temperature extremes, great impacts and high caliber bullets without sustaining injury.

Superhumanly Dense Tissue: The density of an Aboriginal god’s bodily tissues is about twice that of a human being, contributing somewhat to their great strength. As a result, they’re actually much heavier than they appear to be.

Regenerative Healing Factor: It is possible for the Aboriginal gods to sustain injury. If injured, their extremely efficient metabolisms enable them to rapidly heal damaged bodily tissue much more extensively than a human is capable of. The average god or goddess, however, is unable to regenerate missing limbs or organs.

Immortality: The Aboriginal gods are functionally immortal in the sense that they cease to age upon reaching adulthood and are immune to the effects of all known Earthly diseases and infections. However, this doesn’t mean that they can’t die. It is possible for them to sustain injuries, such as being incinerated for instance, that can cause their physical deaths. It’s possible, however, for a number of gods working together to resurrect a deceased member if his or her life essence is beyond resurrection.

Superhuman Agility: All members of the Aboriginal pantheon possess agility, balance and bodily coordination beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human specimen.

Superhuman Reflexes: The reflexes of an Aboriginal god are also enhanced to superhuman levels. The reflexes of the Aboriginal gods are proportionally superior to those of most other god pantheons as a means of balancing out their typically inferior levels of physical strength.

Shapeshifting: Most Aboriginal gods are highly skilled metamorphs and can shift all portions of their bodies into the shapes of animals, inanimate objects, other humanoid beings, etc. While this common among the various pantheons, the Aboriginal gods are more adapt at it than most others.

Mystical Energies: Many Aboriginal gods also possess additional superhuman abilities that are magical in nature. A common example of this is to be able to open magical gateways to other realms or dimensions. A few of them, however, are more advanced. The Aboriginal God of Lightning, Mamaragan, for instance, is capable of controlling storm clouds and generating intense, thunder-like shockwaves.

Habitat: Habitat of this race is unknown.
Gravity: Gravity of this race is unknown.
Atmosphere: Atmosphere of this race is unknown.
Population: Population of this race is unknown.

Miscellaneous

Type of Government: Government type unknown.
Level of Technology: Technology level unknown.
Cultural Traits: It is not uncommon for various members of the Aboriginal pantheon to adopt the form of an animal or a type of animal/humanoid hybrid. For example, Julunggul, the fertility goddess, often appears in the form of a giant snake though she can appear in human form as well.
Representatives: Altjira, Baiame, Daramulum, Julunggul, Gnowee, Mamaragan, Narahdarn, Marmoo

Notes

In real-world mythology, the Australian gods and the Oceanic gods both had Maori origins, suggesting, at least behind the scenes of the Marvel Universe, that the Aboriginal Gods and the Oceanic gods are two separate tribes of one pantheon, much like the Aesir and Vanir of the Asgardian Gods.

Note-For SOME gods and some superheroes in DC COMICS they have been erased OR HAVE NOT SHOWN UP or shown up yet in he new timeline.

Example, for superheroes,in pre-new52 there was asian batgirl, but now since the new roboot she does not exist or exist yet,but so far she does not exist.

So as a superhero or character she never exited, and her as batgirl never happen.

She may show in the new time line or not in future.

So we do know if SOME of the gods from the old time line will show up in the new time line STORIES.

They most likely exist in the new time line but who know.
If they do exist they still might not show up in future stories in the new time line.

Anak was a member of the Godpack, a group of god-like beings created by the High Evolutionary to serve him. Before his transformation Anak was a convicted criminal, although, all memories of his past had been erased from his mind during the time of transformation. He was named after the giants of biblical lore and according to the Asgardian Thunder god, Thor, his power rivaled that of the Olympian god Hercules. Anak would stand in battle with the Mighty Thor and his comrades against the Man-Beast and New Men all of which were creations of the High Evolutionary.

God/Eternal

quote:
Blitziana is a member of the Godpack, an attempt by the Hight Evolutionary to create a new race of immortal beings in the style of the various Earth Gods. This attempt was successful. Born on Mt. Wundagore durring the High Evolutionary's stay Blitziana was modled after the thundergods of earth and most particularly referenced amdist conversation between THor and the Evlolutionary was himself. in like fashion Blitziana was given a Mace through wich she used her powers. however it was'nt until Thor broke her mace in a fight that she realized that it was only a conduit and she could use her powers without it that the fight continued. Eventually she and Thor both worked out their differences and she accompanied him to Asgard on occasion to investigate the current activities of Loki. although the current whereabouts of the group is unknown.

Powers:
Like all members of the Godpack Blitziana has superhuman strength endurance and stamina although the limit was never be confirmed it is fair to estimate it as being towards the levels of most marvel gods which is Class 25. Blitziana's domain however was her abilitiy to project and abosorb lightning and electical energy. The only ways she has been seen displaying this is in an offesnsive manner of blasts and beams of various magnitudes. She was not shown to have the ability to fly and considering that the High Evolutionary designed them all with the intent to grow into the awareness of their powers theoretically Blitziana could come to manipulate, generate, and abosrob electrical energy in many ways.

 -

While awaiting the next visit of the Celestials to Earth, the deities of the planet decided to find a way to convince the visitors that humankind was worthy of survival. Over the span of ten centuries, these deities selected twelve ordinary men and women as a sample of humanity. Each of the chosen had mastered one of humanity's greatest fields of achievement. Each of these humans was endowed with godlike powers.

Chandra Ku was an 18th-century Zulu girl. At a relatively young age,she demonstrated great skills as a craftswoman. When she was 13-years-old, Chandra was chosen by the deities as a member of their sample of humanity. Chandra has grown to prefer self-isolation and meditation to interaction with others. She is a loner among her fellow Young Gods and reportedly rarely speaks.

POWERMAN

 -

Powerman (comics)
quote:
Powerman is a British comic book series written by Don Avenall (aka Donne Avenell) and Norman Worker, and illustrated by Dave Gibbons and Brian Bolland that was initially distributed in Nigeria in the early 1970s. The series starred a superhero named Powerman. When the comics were re-published in the United Kingdom the character's name became Powerbolt.

Gibbons said that an executive from a Nigerian advertising agency approached Bardon Press Features to discuss the idea of making a series with a black superhero; the man and his wife saw that in Nigeria, the comics available were imported and had White protagonists. Gibbons designed the character and the series logo and worked chores with Bolland. Gibbons said that he published one 14-page issue per month, which was published every two weeks (fourteen days and nights). Gibbons said that he remembered asking why Africans did not work on the strips and hearing that the African artists would likely emerge once comics become popular in Africa. Gibbons also recalls difficulty adjusting to writing for a Nigerian culture; for instance, the management told him that a fat stomach indicated "success and power" instead of "gluttony or greed" and that having Powerman "always get off with the girls" was not considered sexist. Each panel had a number to indicate the flow of the story.

Without the permission of the original publishers, the comic was reprinted in South Africa. The Comics Journal accused the creators of Powerman of supporting the Apartheid since the characters were mostly Black. One white character, a blond property developer, was named Boss Blitzer. The character, described by Gibbons as "dishonest," faces defeat at the hands of Powerman.

In 1988, Eclipse Comics republished the series in Power Comics but changed Powerman's name to Powerbolt. Powerman, who had a lot of strength and could fly, appeared in stories rendered in a simple style reminiscent of Fawcett Comics's Golden Age Captain Marvel. His only apparent weakness was snakebite.

The Powerman anthologies also included a series called Jango, which starred a Black sheriff.

DC Comics has revealed that their upcoming Action Comic # 9 in the series will present for the first time a black Superman.

The stand alone comic, written by regular series writer Grant Morrison with art work by Gene Ha, takes place on a alternative Earth in which the superhero battles with a monster from a parallel world, a Superman surrogate known as Superdoom.

Anyone out there think this will raise the hackles of those people who got upset when Idris Elba played that Nordic god Heindall in that Thor movie last summer?

I hope it does.

Superman's planet is racially diverse-finally

For those keeping their eyes open, there was a welcome return in last week’s Superman #683 in Part 9 of the “New Krypton” storyline (featuring 100,000 Kryptonians like Superman coming to earth) – non-white Kryptonians were clearly shown.

For those keeping their eyes open, there was a welcome return in last week’s Superman #683 comic book (featuring 100,000 Kryptonians like Superman coming to earth) — non-white Kryptonians were clearly shown.

There had been some “squint and you can see them” individuals in group shots earlier in the storyline, but the Sergio Leone-style “showdown” page showed the Kryptonian-equivalent of Africans and Asians. (Preview of Superman #683 here.)

Big deal?

Well, kind of. By and large, superheroes are still the domain of the idealized white man (and woman). For the character's first 30 years, Superman’s homeworld of Krypton was all-white. It was only in 1971 —33 years after Superman's debut in 1938 — that the first non-white Kryptonian was seen. A few months later, the idea of non-white Kryptonians was expanded upon.

“In issue #239, a two-page map showed that Kryptonians of color had an island all to themselves, which is pretty embarrassing,” says Mark Waid, Boom! Studios Editor-in-Chief, occasional DC Comics writer, and pretty much expert in all things Superman.

“I cringe to tell you this, but the Kryptonians of Color were all on ‘Vathlo Island, Home of a Highly Advanced Black Race.’ It wasn't until the mid-70s, when more ‘World of Krypton’ back-up stories ran more regularly, that we really saw any ethnicity whatsoever on the planet.”

While he’s not sure of how exactly Krypton's population diversified, Waid figures that it had to do with E. Nelson Bridwell, the assistant on the Superman books at the time. “He took a special interest in ‘caretaking’ the history and fictional culture of Krypton,” Waid says. “More than anyone else who ever lived, Nelson knew that world.”

Much like other mono-cultural planets of the Golden Age of science fiction, Krypton was a product of its time.

“A lack of ethnicity was an eror of omission, and I'm not sure given the time that it's fair to call that ‘racist,’” Waid says.

Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and all those who followed in crafting the Superman legend were, indeed, simply following the traditions of the Golden Age of Science Fiction, when one world always equaled one culture, maybe two if they were at war because the plot demanded it.

Remember, as absurd as this sounds in an America finally enlightened enough to elect a black man as President, the Civil Rights Act wasn't passed until 1964. The gradual recognition of all races and ethnicities across all of pop culture, comics included, really didn't start to blossom until the late 1960s.

Yes, Superman was weirdly late to that party — the first African-American even in a Superman story, and it's from the summer of 1970. But again, and not to make excuses, that delay was just creative inertia in action.

After the start of a diverse Krypton in the early ‘70s, it was left up to creators and editors to make sure that Krypton was racially diverse, and it was occasionally shown to be — if the story allowed. Throughout its rather ignoble history, Vathlo Island remained undeveloped and unexplored by writers, which is both good and bad, probably. One interesting idea that was floated in the very brief mention of Vathlo in Krypton's history was that there was no slave trade on Krypton, which is why races didn't really mix — or at least why some of Jor-El's best friends weren't black.

More often than not though, the planet of Superman’s birth has been shown to be made up of just one race, even in crowd scenes. As a quick aside, "Smallville," an alternate retelling of Clark Kent's younger years on The WB/CW has shown Nam-Ek, a Kryptonian equivalent of African-American.

But with “New Krypton,” story architects Geoff Johns, James Robinson and Sterling Gates have been working to merge all aspects of Krypton that have been shown over the years, making all the visions and versions into a workable whole — including the fact that the planet was racially diverse — and hopefully without the segregation of Vathlo Island. Here's hoping for a more colorful Krypton.

Calvin Ellis
 -

Action Comics #9.

Calvin Ellis, Kryptonian name Kalel, also known as Superman, is a Kryptonian president of the United States, on a different Earth in the Multiverse. On his Earth, he became Superman in addition to being the president. It is likely he's native to Vathlo Island, due to his reference to the word Vathlo.

He operates from the White House, where Brainiac serves as his personal computer and even covers for him while he does his duties as Superman. ("Final Crisis")
 -

Final Crisis

Post-Crisis Continuity

During Final Crisis, this Superman joined a a team of different versions of Superman from the Multiverse. ("Final Crisis")

New 52 Continuity

Born to Jorel and Lara in the science capital on Vathlo Island on Krypton, baby Kalel was sent to Earth to escape Krypton's destruction. He was found and raised by a human couple. As an adult, he operated as Superman while also serving as the President of the United States.

One day, inhabitants from an alternate Earth came through to his Earth, fleeing from their universe's Superman, who they had created. When the evil Superman came through, Superman fought him and won, with the help of Lex Luthor. ("The Curse of Superman")

Superman also interferes directly in his country's international affairs, using his powers as Superman. Shortly after the encounter with the alternate Superman, he destroyed all of Bialya's nuclear facilities, and then invited them to join the international community. ("Executive Power")

Behind the Scenes

Calvin Ellis is based on real-life President Barack Obama.

The real Barack Obama is the 44th president of the United States. Prior to being elected, he once joked on TV that he was sent to Earth from the dying planet Krypton, by his father, Jor-El.

He was later added to Final Crisis #7 as a version of Superman. Writer Grant Morrison confirmed that the character was intended to be Barack Obama.

The character was unnamed in his first appearance in Final Crisis, and so was assumed to simply be Barack Obama. However, with the release of Action Comics #9, his name was revealed to be Calvin Ellis. He also had the Kryptonian name of Kalel.

There was previously another black Superman in Legends of the DC Universe: Crisis on Infinite Earths (Feb. 1999). This version lives on Earth-D, which featured a more ethnically diverse version of several Earth-One heroes, such as an Asian Flash and an American Indian Green Arrow. The Earth-D heroes had never experienced major tragedies in their lives. It was a combination of modern multi-cultural sensibilities combined with Silver-Age-style innocence.

Vathlo island exist in mainstream dc comics first. The black superman comes from the parallel universe one.

Vathlo Island

Vathlo Island is an island nation on Krypton which was not part of the planetary federation. Nevertheless, it had an advanced society. The majority of the populace seems to be black. Indeed, many of the black Kryptonians who survived the destruction of the planet, originally came from Vathlo.

 -
Vathlo Island.

Vathlo Island

Vathlo Island is a fictional location on the planet of Krypton in the DC Comics universe.

Publication history
Vathlo Island is a Kryptonian island continent similar to Australia and populated by a "highly developed black race" of Kryptonians, and "retained its independence throughout history and did not join the planetary federation, though good relations were maintained". Black Kryptonians were first shown in Superman #234, with the island itself shown on a map in #239. Vathlo was rarely if ever referenced beyond these few issues, although a black Kryptonian named "Iph-Ro of Vathlo" appeared in the more recent Superman: The Man of Steel #111. An offhand reference to the island was made in Alan Moore's story For the Man Who Has Everything, where "racial trouble with the Vathlo Island immigrants," are mentioned in a dream world Krypton that had avoided destruction. It is believed, based on the appearances of black Kryptonians in recent Superman issues, that the Vathlonians eventually were integrated into Krypton proper.

In Final Crisis #7, an alternate version of Superman (modeled after Barack Obama) from one of the 52 realities of the multiverse is featured. This Superman resembles an African-American and is revealed to originate from the science-capital of Krypton: Jandra-La on the Krypton of Earth-23 in Action Comics #9.

In Superman: World of New Krypton #4, it is established that Vathlo Islanders settled in Kandor prior to the destruction of Krypton.

Other media
While the island itself has not appeared or even referenced in the television series Smallville, African-looking/dark-skinned Kryptonians have been featured. One was a disciple of Zod, who goes by the name Nam-Ek (portrayed by Leonard Roberts). Another was named Basqat (played by Adrian Holmes).

ASIANS IN MARVEL MOVIES AND COMICS

I think most asian superheroes in marvel comics are in x-men or closely related superhero teams like, New Mutants, X-Force etc...

It's going to be hard to show solo movies of any of them from the west except for the upcoming movie ,bighero6 and that's a team movie, but still all asian and that's animated.

BY THE WAY I have no problem with animated big screen movies.

That's another way to go by the way and more is needed.

Coming up two asian actors will be playing superheroes in the new x-men film.

BY THE WAY YOU can SEE THE NEW TRAILER FOR THE X-MEN MOVIE ONLINE OR YOUTUBE AND A RECENT CLIP SHOWING THE OPENING SCENE.

I will post those below.

Booboo Stewart as James Proudstar / Warpath
A mutant with super-strength, near invulnerability and the ability of flight.
 -

Booboo and Fivel Stewart at the Hollywood Premiere of Disney Channel's "Let It Shine" In June 2012.

They could have gotten a native american to play this role,of course like i said above, native americans are of asian origin.

James Proudstar, known first as Thunderbird II and then as Warpath, has been a fictional character in the Marvel Universe since 1984.
An Apache Native American, Proudstar possesses mutant superhuman strength and speed. His powers resemble those of his older brother, the short-lived X-Men member Thunderbird, although Warpath's power-levels are much higher. Warpath is one of the few mutants to retain his powers after the Decimation.

Fan Bingbing as Blink
A mutant with the ability to teleport.
 -

Adan Canto as Sunspot
A mutant with solar-powered super-strength and near invulnerability.

Sunspot is suppose be a brown race person,of course not asian but a another person of color in the upcoming x-men film..

Asians in Comics: Amazing Spider-Man Vs. Asian Captain Universe

Comic: Amazing Spider-Man
Issues: 627-629
Title: You Can’t Stop the Juggernaut
Collected in: Amazing Spider-Man: The Gauntlet 4: Juggernaut (Graphic novel)
Writer: Fred Van Lente Penciler: Michael Gaydos

Quote:
When Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created The Incredible Hulk in 1962, the character appealed to an audience they didn’t originally anticipate: Asians. Originally, the premise of the Hulk and Bruce Banner was a reflection on the feelings of powerlessness that some Americans felt as the Vietnam War progressed. Bruce Banner, like many of Stan Lee’s characters, was outwardly a normal guy, but when things got out of hand, he went into a rage. This character then struck a chord with Asian readers who suffered from the passive-aggressive strain that runs in their culture. They could identify with a man who held everything in until it felt like he would explode, and when the Hulk entered into it, it became a fantasy about expelling all of the anger that was held within.

(spoilers ahead)

Decades later, in the issues of Amazing Spider-Man 627-629, in a story titled You Can’t Stop The Juggernaut, a premise similar to the Hulk’s was given to an actual Asian-American character by the name of William Nguyen. At first, he’s a perfectly ordinary guy. He is working at an office building were, all of a sudden, Juggernaut (Cain Marko) comes bashing through the wall in one of his famous rampages. Spider-man is close at his heels, trying to subdue the villian, but as the title states clearly, you can’t stop the juggernaut. From that chance encounter, William Nguyen’s life is ruined. In order to repair the wall of the building that Juggernaut destroyed, William’s manager has to fire him due to necessary downsizing. Shortly thereafter, his girlfriend leaves him, and he ends up finding work at a fast food joint. Unable to take it anymore, he jumps off a bridge over the East River when, out of the blue, in midair no less, he’s granted the ability to merge with the Uni-Power, a bizarre offshoot of the Enigma Force that allows ordinary people to merge with a benign cosmic being and become a superhero until the Uni-Power chooses someone else. When he accepts the power, he becomes the new Captain Universe, and has more superpowers than I can easily list.

Are you following me so far? Essentially, the transcendance of William Nguyen into Captain Universe greatly resembles the metamorphosis of Bruce Banner into The Hulk, where both were given powers by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. When William receives his gift, instead of protecting the Earth, he vows revenge on Juggernaut, and even manages to knock him into a coma at the story’s start. Spider-Man then has to intercede to save Juggernaut’s life, and later has to stop Juggernaut from killing William.

The lack of Asians in comics has for a long time upset me, especially since the few Asian superheroes out there tend to be cliche, such as Psylocke, who’s essentially a ninja, to Toyman, a Japanese boy who builds robots. If Bruce Banner/ The Hulk resembled the passive-aggressiveness of some Asians, I always thought it’d be cool to see what it’d be like if an Asian were put in a similar position, but not enough happened with this premise here. By the end of #629, William has lost the Uni-Power after using it for personal ambition rather than for altruistic aims.

I noticed also the story involved a good many Asian stereotypes, such as how William works in an office, and that he describes himself as a “drone,” and how he can’t stand up to his boss when he’s fired for a completely unfair reason. Also, that he’d resort to attempting to commit suicide is again a stereotypical view of the culture.

The lamest part of the You Can’t Stop The Juggernaut story arc involves a subplot concerning tectonic plates that are on the verge of creating an earthquake that would surely decimate a chunk of New York. It’s implied William Nguyen was granted his powers specifically to stop the quake, but, due to his need for revenge, he wastes them battling Juggernaut for three issues. Eventually, fed up with his unresponsiveness, the Uni-Power leaves William and grafts onto Juggernaut, who then burrows into the Earth and straightens out the plates. If William had done something good with his powers at the last minute, I’d be happy, but then it plays out that an actual supervillain is more heroic than a passive-aggressive Asian.

Writer Fred Van Lente very likely had his heart in the right place when he wrote this tale, and it’s nice to see Asians in mainstream comics, even if there are dated stereotypes involved, but I wish more was done here. So many superheroes started out like William, that is, normal people who suddenly get superpowers, then proceed to misuse them for a time before accepting their roles as heroes (everyone from Spider-Man to Wolverine to The Hulk himself share this origin). They didn’t have their powers taken away. They grew into them. It would have been worlds better if William, after overcoming his urge for revenge, flew off to cultivate his new abilities, and maybe returned from time to time to play a better role.
While You Can’t Stop the Juggernaut wasn’t a great comic, it was more interesting than a lot of what’s out there, and the penciling by Michael Gaydos had a refreshingly vintage look. If you’re looking for a better superhero comic featuring an Asian hero, check out old issues of Xombi.

—If you’re looking for a book to read, why not check out my book, The Madness of Art: Short Stories? It contains 8 short stories revolving around the stranger side of the artistic process.

What was your opinion of the Amazing Spider-Man You Can’t Stop The Juggernaut storyline, and how do you feel about the representation of Asians in comics?

Nova corps

Tre Owens
 -

Tre Owens is a cop selected by Worldmind to be a new Centurion in the Nova Corps as part of a mass recruitment of humans.

History
Tre Owens was a young officer in Washington, D.C.'s metro police department. He was an optimistic man, who could often be found playing basketball with neighborhood kids who did not think much of cops in general. He had been a metro cop for eighteen months when he was suddenly hit by a selection beam from the Worldmind on Nu-Xandar. He was one of thousands of humans suddenly finding themselves chosen for service in the Nova Corps. Despite the abrupt recruitment, he happily accepted the opportunity to become a Nova Centurion.

What Tre did not realize was that he and the other new recruits were being mentally coerced by the control of endorphins and subliminal messaging in their brains. His acceptance and willingness to follow the Worldmind's orders were not of his own volition.

 -

Tre accompanied the rest of his fellow Centurions to the front lines of the War of Kings between the Shi'ar and Kree. The Nova Corps intervention went disastrously as they attempted to defend Kree worlds from the invading Shi'ar. Many Centurions were killed. Tre's unit was blindsided by a Shi'ar Star Destroyer Ionclad and members of the Imperial Guard. The only place they could find cover was within the wreckage of an orbital dockyard, where they quickly found themselves pinned down and being picked off. Rich Rider, once again Nova Prime, arrived in time to save Tre and Lindy Nolan from Warstar.

 -

With Rich's help, Tre and the other surviving Centurions were able to make it back to Nu-Xandar. It was explained to Tre that the Worldmind had been compromised and was manipulating all of their minds this whole time. The plan was to pull the Nova Corps out of the war and send everyone home to live out their lives. Tre, joined by Lindy, shot that offer down. His mind was now his own, and he still wanted to be of some service. With the support of the new incarnation of the Worldmind, Tre was allowed to remain.

Icon.
 -
Icon is the superhero persona of Arnus aka Augustus Freeman, and member of the Terminan alien race. He crash-landed on Earth in the American South in 1839; Raised as a slave, but escaped through the Underground Railroad. After a series of events, he decided to become a Superhero and eventually joined the Justice League, after being drafted by Superman.

More details about icon and his powers.

quote:

Powers/Abilities
Alien Physiology: Icon is a member of the Terminan race, a powerful race with powers and abilities similar to Kryptonians, however they don't share any of the Kryptonian weakness.

Unique Physiology/Superhuman Physiology: Icon's DNA was changed/altered by his life pod, so he would resemble a normal human being. The changes to his DNA made it possible to blend among Earth's natives, however, it also resulted in the maximization of his now human/alien genetic structure. His body became highly resistant and extremely durable. The maximization of Icon's DNA grants him additional powers and abilities, that are unusual even for a Termian.

Superhuman Strength: Icon possesses vast strength due to the maximization of his DNA and alien heritage. He can lift over 100 tons effortlessly. He usually hold back, only using enough strength for the situation at hand, thus the limits of his strength are unknown. Even when holding back, he still displays strength equal to a full powered Superman.

Superhuman Speed: Icon possesses the ability to move at superhuman speeds. He is immune to the affects of traveling at high speed, and is capable of keeping up with Flash effortlessly. The exact limits of Icon's speed isn't known.

Superhuman Agility: Icon can move from place to place in the blink of an eye. His agility, balance, and bodily coordination are far beyond the natural physical limits and capabilities of the finest human specimen.

Superhuman Reflexes: Icon possesses the ability to think, move, and react at superhuman speeds. Icon’s reflexes are superior to those possessed by the finest human specimens.

Superhuman Stamina: Icon possesses a highly efficient musculature structure, granting him vast amounts of stamina in all physical activities.

Flight: Icon flies by manipulation of gravitons, manipulation of magnetic fields, control of his absolute molecular movement, and utilizing his superhuman speed. His top speed has not yet been determined.

Enhanced Senses: Icon possesses superhuman senses (the extent of which are unknown). He is constantly aware of his own state of being (physical health and mental status).

Enhanced Vision
Enhanced Sense of Smell
Enhanced Sense of Taste
Enhanced Hearing
Enhanced Sense of Touch
Enhanced Mental Perception: Icon possesses a super genius intellect. He can sense and comprehend things on levels that exceed human capabilities.

Self-Sustenance: Icon can survive in harsh environments without air, food or water, and his bodily evacuations aren't needed. He's also able to survive unaided in space.

Invulnerability: Icon possess nigh-invulnerability, he can withstand: high-impact forces, high-caliber bullets, exposure to temperature and pressure extremes, powerful energy blasts without sustaining injury, and is unaffected by the weather.

Accelerated Healing: Despite his nigh invulnerability, it is possible to injure Icon; If injured, Icon's body is can swiftly recover/regenerate from minor and serious/fatal injuries. He's capable of repairing damaged/destroyed tissue, limbs, muscles, and organs with great speed and efficiency. The true extent of his healing ability has yet to be determined.

Positron Manipulation: Icon can create, shape and manipulate Positrons. They have mass, spin and statistics equal to that of the electron, but positive charge equal in magnitude to the electron's negative charge. Positrons have properties of both particles and waves, collide with other particles, and can be diffracted like light. Many physical phenomena involve electrons in an essential role, such as electricity, magnetism, and thermal conductivity, and Positrons also participate in gravitational, electromagnetic and weak interactions. Icon can manipulate Positrons in various ways which include:

Hand Blast: Icon can project powerful positron energy blasts from his hands.

Concussion Force Beams: Icon can release positron energy from his hands as bolts of concussive force. A low power force bolt can flick on a light switch, but at maximum power the amount of damage is unknown.

Stun Bolts: Icon can project low-energy positron bolts that render human beings unconscious by disrupting the electrical impulses in their nervous systems.

Expanding Energy Bolts: Icon can fire bolts of positron energy that can rapidly expand upon contact with a object, person, or target. The size to which the bolts expands vary.

Energy Ball Projection: Icon can create balls of positrons that he can launch at rapid fire rates.

Energy Enhanced Punches: Icon can focus positron energy into his fists, which he can then use to shatter any substance.

Energy Pulse: Icon can produce a surge of positron energy (from his hands or entire body), which can disrupt biological or technical technology.

Energy Waves: Icon can release waves of positron energy and use them in various ways (to damage, push, bind and/or paralyze people). The waves can be sent through any form of matter creating ruptures, and can go through anything.

Omnidirectional Energy Waves: Icon can release all of his body's positron energy as massive positron waves in ever direction, causing devastating damage.

Positron Constructs: Icon can turn positron energy into whatever he desires ( tools, objects, weapons and other items). He can also use positron energy to create semi-living constructs and/or create structures/buildings of varying permanence.

Positron Field: Icon can detect the presence of Bang Babies within his vicinity by flooding an area with a field of positrons. The field interacts with the invisible quantum well surrounding a Bang Baby, who then glows as he or she gives off mild gamma particles. Hence, Icon can use these fields to distinguish Bang Babies from other meta humans as well as normal humans.

Force Field: Icon can use positrons to create quasi-solid energy fields to entrap opponents. The force fields becomes more powerful, by absorbing kinetic energy.

Energy Shield: Icon can create a extremely powerful positron energy shield, that can deflect and absorb energy. The shield can also absorb kinetic energy, in which it becomes more and more powerful.

Decelerated Aging: Icon possesses extraordinary longevity, enabling him to age at a vastly slower rate than that of human beings. Hence, though centuries old, he appears to be no older than forty. Icon's lifespan is usual for a Terminan and is the only power that is not the result of his genetic maximization. The maximization of his DNA did effect his aging process; He will never show signs of old age and will always be in top physical condition.

Abilities
Expert Lawyer: Augustus Freeman is one of the worlds best Lawyers as well as Corporate Lawyers. As Icon, he is among the Cooperative’s most celebrated mediators. He has extensive knowledge of every type of law system on Earth (most notably American Law) and the Cooperative legal system combined with his decades of experience in his chosen field. Icon also possess vast knowledge of many forms of alien/other worldly law and also has a extensive mediator background.

Multi-billionaire: Augustus Freeman is a self-made multi-billionaire, and has used his centuries on Earth to accumulate his Billions. He is one of the most successful Lawyers in the world, and is also a Celebrity. Augustus has used his wealth to help others, by founding various centers and organizations around the world, one the most famous being the Freeman Community Center. He's also build and develop his own Law Firm, which has a branch in every state in the U.S.

Hand-to-Hand Combat (Advanced): Icon is a deadly combatant, whose fighting skills rival some of the most well known trained fighters in the universe. Icon is well trained in unarmed and armed combat, having fought in major conflicts ranging from the Civil War to World War II, and has mastered multiple types of fighting styles both armed and unarmed.

Icon can adapt to any fighting style (unarmed or armed), automatically changing his fighting style to be superior to his opponents, and can predict attacks from every direction. Icon boosters his strength every time he fights, meaning the more he fights the stronger he and his overall strength becomes. Some opponents underestimate Icon because of his initial attempts of diplomacy.

Multilingual: Icon is fluent in English and Galactic Standard, the native language of the Cooperative. Icon can instantly learn and translate any language perfectly when he hears it, reads it, or sees it.

Equipment
Armor: Icon wears armor composed of highly advanced alien technology. The armor grants him further protection from projectile weaponry, energy beams, intense heat/cold, tremendous impact forces, and adds to his already incredible strength. He can change the appearance of his armor at will. The armor can instantly adapt to any environment, quickly repairs any damage that comes of it, and becomes immune to whatever previously damaged it. With a mere thought, Icon uses his own positron energy to construct his armor, and when no longer needed the armor is converted back into energy that Icon stores in his body.

Starship: Like all Cooperative vessels, Icon's starship is equipped with a faster-than-light drive that allows it to shift into the realm called Hyperspace. Icon's starship is also equipped with cloaking technology that can render the vessel invisible to both the human eye and all forms of technological surveillance. When not in use, Icon stores his starship in his "garage," a hangar located beneath his mansion’s swimming pool. The pool slides out of the way to provide easy entry or exit for the ship. Over time Icon's ship has been equipped with numerous technology from other planets and cultures, including time travel technology. The ship is extremely fast and maneuverable. The ship is also equipped with multiple types of offensive and defensive technology. Icon's ship is highly effective in combat.

 -
Icon's Starship

Info Tool: The Info Tool is a computerized database of virtually everything known within the Cooperative. It even contains very detailed files on the cultures, languages, history and technology of Sol III (Earth) thanks to Icon's accounts of his life on the planet. The Info Tool acquires new information from written documents, verbal accounts, and visual data inputs. The database can even scan an item (organic or inorganic) and store its molecular structure within files called "software." Apart from storing and retrieving data, the local access to the Info Tool can also link to and control any computer-operated device or system.

Because of all the data it has accumulated over the millennium, the Info Tool is truly self-aware and even has a personality of sorts. The Info Tool relies on verbal inputs to receive commands to perform certain functions. In terms of information retrieval, the Tool can respond either verbally or by displaying its findings via holographic images aboard the starship. The Info Tool remains in contact with Icon via a communicator hidden in his costume.

The Maker: The Maker is a molecular factory that can construct any physical item, molecule by molecule, from structural data files stored within the Info Tool. These data files are called "software" while the objects created by the Maker are known as "hardware." The Maker operates by tapping the vast energies of the reactor for Icon's starship and converting them into matter used for the construction of hardware. The Maker can create any item, terrestrial or extraterrestrial, in a matter of seconds as long as its structure is on file within the Info Tool. These include medicines, machinery (e.g., vehicles), clothing, and even food. The Maker can repair or modify constructed hardware by altering its molecular structure according to the whims of its user.

The Maker can also rearrange the molecular structure of items it did not create in order to change their appearance or function. To do so, the Info Tool must first scan the structure of the object to be modified. For example, Icon employed the Maker to build the starship garage beneath his mansion's swimming pool.

Icon's starship has numerous projectors through which the Maker can construct hardware within the vessel. To build an item outside the vessel, the Maker relies on a special probe mounted on the underside of the starship. it is the probe that facilitates the Maker repairing or remodeling Icon's possessions over great distances.

Blue Marvel
 -

When Adam discovered his super-powers, he fashioned a secret identity with which to protect his country; the Blue Marvel! He served as a hero for years, and was one of the most popular heroes of his time. Adam was pressured by the government to retire, because of how much power he had and for being black. He was forced out of retirement to face his greatest foe and former best friend, Anti-Man.

Powers and Abilities
quote:
The Blue Marvel's source of power is the energy released from anti-matter. Anti-matter is is the same as normal matter except that the sub-atomic particles are the opposite charge. Therefore, anti-matter and normal matter cannot coexist without exploding. CERN recently made the first particles of anti-matter, apparently kept in in a magnetically charged vacuum to keep it from coming in contact with normal matter. Nuclear fission releases energy with 1.5% efficiency; anti-matter releases energy with 100% efficiency. One gram of anti-matter contains the same energy as the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. One droplet could power New York City for a full day. Adam Brashear is the first human anti-matter generator and reactor. The experiment he gained his powers from renders his form unaffected from anti-matter. During his mini, he went toe to toe with the Sentry, as well as with the rest of the Avengers. He knocked the Sentry into orbit in a blow, knocking him unconscious for several minutes. The Sentry barely pulled off a win against Brashear, who had been fighting the Avengers for quite some time, and nearly passed out himself. He also lifted a disabled battleship weighing 100 000 tons and flew it back to port for repair. He also easily stopped a meteorite the size of Arkansas from striking Earth using his great strength. The Watcher said that Blue Marvel could have "split the moon in two" with one blow. He has also survived a 1 megaton atomic bomb exploding in his hands without suffering any type of damage. He has shown to have energy manipulation powers using his anti-matter. He can release concentrated beams from his hands or an omni-direction blasts throughout his body. He has also been shown to create power shields strong enough to deflect a charging attacks from King Hyperion In a short time, the Blue Marvel has established himself as a premier powerhouse in the Marvel universe. Prince Namor himself stated that after the Blue Marvel's long hiatus that only the Hulk and Thor have hit him as hard.
Note- the sentry did a sneak attack while blue marvel was fighting the others.

Powers
quote:

Blue Marvel's powers are a result of being mutated by radiation generated by the then unstable event horizon to the Negative Zone; the experiment renders his form unaffected from anti-matter. His powers make him a force to be reckoned with and one of the strongest beings in the Universe.

 -
Blue Marvel.

Anti-Matter Manipulation: Blue Marvel is the first Anti-Matter Generator and Reactor; the source of his power is the energy released from anti-matter. Anti-matter is the same as normal matter, except that the sub-atomic particles are the opposite charge. Therefore, anti-matter and normal matter cannot coexist without exploding.

Hand Blast: Blue Marvel can release concentrated beams of anti-matter from his hands.

Concussion Beams: Blue Marvel can release beams of pure solidified anti-matter that causes concussive damage. The effects of these beams rang from slight push, hard hit, knock-out, minor and major damage, shattering, and total annihilation of the target.

Concussive Force Bolts: Blue Marvel can release anti-matter energy from his hands as bolts of concussive force.

Stun Bolts: Blue Marvel can project low-energy of anti-matter bolts that render human beings unconscious.

Energy Beam/Blats: Blue Marvel can fire beams of anti-matter from his body, whether it be from his hands or eyes. He can also release anti-matter energy over a specific target area, causing great damage, and deliver great shock waves of pure force.

Energy Constructs: Blue Marvel can turn anti-matter into any item he's seen, can imagine, or has a good idea how it functions.

Expanding Energy Bolts: Blue Marvel can fire bolts of anti-matter that can rapidly expand upon contact with a object, person, or target. The size to which the bolts expands vary.

Energy Orbs Projection: Blue Marvel can create orbs of anti-mater that he can launch at rapid fire rates. The orbs can also be used as part of a melee attack.

Energy Enhanced Punches: Blue Marvel can focus anti-matter into his fists, which he can then use to shatter substances.

Energy Pulse: Blue Marvel can produce a surge of anti-matter (from his hands or entire body), as a massive omnidirectional pulse of devastation power.

Energy Waves: Blue Marvel can release waves of anti-matter energy and use them in various ways (to damage, push, bind and/or paralyze people). The waves can be sent through any form of matter creating ruptures.

Energy Shields: Blue Marvel has been seen creating power shields, strong enough to deflect charging attacks from King Hyperio in a short time.

Anti-Matter Stabilization: According to Blue Marvel he is a stable "antimatter reactor", but from his broader explanation what he appears to do is channel exotic particles, generated by a stable event horizon, caused by the interaction of opposing positive matter and negative matter (Negative Zone) universes. Because Blue Marvel has retained his powers all this time, it would seem that either the specific generative reaction that granted him his powers, continues at an unseen or subatomic level in the facility where he first gained his powers, or exotic particles generated by the experiment somehow became quantum entangled with Blue Marvel. He is able to stabilize anti-matter, where anti-matter and matter would normally annihilate each other upon physical contact; Blue Marvel can prevent such an occurrence for a variety of effects, ranging from matter-antimatter constructs to the cohabitation of matter and antimatter beings.

Incalculable Strength: Blue Marvel possesses vast levels of superhuman strength, and is stated to be in the same league as Sentry, Hulk, and Thor strength wise; Blue Marvel has the potential to be the most powerful hero on Earth. He was seen effortlessly lifting the 1960 era's American warship 'Enterprise' which weighs over 93,000 tons; he is capable of greater feats of strength, as shown when he easily moved a meteor "easily the size of Arkansas". Blue Marvel is capable of lifting far in excess of 100 tons easily, as shown when he's lifted a disabled battleship weighing 100,000 tons and flew it back to port for repair. The Watcher said that Blue Marvel could have "split the moon in two" with one blow. Prince Namor himself stated that after Blue Marvel's long hiatus, that only the Hulk and Thor have hit him as hard. Blue Marvel went toe to toe with Sentry, as well as with the rest of the Avengers; he knocked Sentry into orbit in a single blow, knocking him unconscious for several minutes. Sentry barely pulled off a win against Blue Marvel, who had been fighting the Avengers for quite some time, and nearly passed out himself. The uppermost limits of Blue Marvel's strength is unknown, but it equals or exceeds the likes of a vastly enraged Hulk, Sentry and others.

Invulnerability: Blue Marvel possess nigh-invulnerability similar to Sentry, and has no physical weaknesses; he can withstand: tremendous impact forces, high-caliber bullets, exposure to temperature and pressure extremes, and powerful energy blasts without sustaining injury. Blue Marvel has withstood a nuclear detonation without any apparent physical trauma whatsoever.

Superhuman Durability: Blue Marvel's tissue, skin, muscles, bones, etc. are extremely dense/solid, allowing him to withstand harmful strains on his body; he's has survived a 1 megaton atomic bomb exploding in his hands without suffering any type of damage. He also withstood blows from a large collection of superhumans such as: Ms. Marvel, Ares, Iron Man, Wonder Man, and Sentry while remaining unharmed.

Regenerative Healing Factor: Despite his nigh invulnerability to injury, it is possible to injure Blue Marvel. If injured he can regenerate/heal from any type of injury instantaneously, this includes cellular regeneration and rejuvenation; he can also regenerate his brain cells and nerves, keeping his mind intact. Blue Marvel's healing factor also makes him immune to drugs, disease, and all harmful foreign substances; it also keeps him at optimal health and at his physical prime, increases his lifespan, thus making him practically immortal.

Superhuman Reflexes: Blue Marvel reflexes are superior to those of the finest human athletes. He's capable of catching bullets and dodging projectiles.

Superhuman Agility: Blue Marvel's natural balance, agility, and body coordination are enhanced to levels that are far beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.

Superhuman Stamina: Blue Marvel's enhanced musculature is far more efficient than that of a human. As a result his muscles produce no fatigue toxins thereby granting him theoretically unlimited stamina.

Self-Sustenance: Blue Marvel can survive in harsh environments without air, food, or water. He's also able to survive unaided in space.

Superhuman Speed: Blue Marvel is capable of thinking, moving, and reacting vastly faster than any normal human being. He's fast enough to keep up with Sentry, although his top speed is unknown.

Flight: Blue Marvel flies by manipulation of gravitons, manipulation of magnetic fields, control of his absolute molecular movement, and utilizing his superhuman speed. Although his top flight speed remains unknown, he can fly far beyond supersonic speeds, reach speeds of at least escape velocity (7 miles per second), and has been seen flying into space unaided under his own power.

Superhuman Sense: Blue Marvel possesses sensory abilities that exceed far above normal human capabilities.

Enhanced Vision

Enhanced Sense of Smell

Enhanced Sense of Taste

Enhanced Hearing

Enhanced Sense of Touch

Enhanced Mental Perception: Blue Marvel possesses the ability to sense & comprehend things on levels that far exceed human capabilities.

Matter Manipulation/Transmutation: Blue Marvel can manipulate, control, and reshape matter at the molecular level. Blue Marvel can also transmute matter into anti-matter and vise versa.

Molecular Manipulation: Blue Marvel evidently is able to affect matter at a molecular level with a great degree of precision and control, as he did when he not only healed Monica Rambeau, but further boosted her electromagnetic abilities.

Decelerated Aging/Longevity: Blue Marvel ages at a vastly slower rate than that of normal human beings.

Abilities
Athlete: Adam is a highly talented Football Player, and former Fullback at Cornell University.

Combat: Adam has been trained by the US Marines in armed and unarmed combat at Montford Point. He was able to directly engage Iron man, Ares, Wonder Man and Ms. Marvel in combat at the same time, and casually overpower them.

Super Genius level Intellect: Adam has a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics and a Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University; he graduated Magna cum laude. He's a genius in the field of Theoretical Physics, and has made extraordinary strides in the study of antimatter. Adam is also a Physics Professor at the University of Maryland, Scientist, and Engineer.

Could Shazam Movie Be Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Secret DC Project?
By: Jamie Lovett on April 28, 2014
 -

quote:
We had previously reported that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had been in talks to play a role in a superhero movie, though which role was up in the air. The Rock mentioned being up for Lobo, but that project had been shelved. He mentioned that he was even more interested in playing a role in a Shazam film, but that had also fallen through the cracks…or has it?

quote:

Warner Bros. has several other movies in development unconnected to the Justice League that are based on DC superheroes and fantasy and crime titles from its Vertigo line of genre comics, said Mr. Silverman and Toby Emmerich, president of Warner’s New Line Cinema label. They include “Shazam,” “Metal Men,” “100 Bullets,” and “Fables.”

So, with Shazam being mentioned by Silverman and Emmerich, does that mean that the project is back on? If it is back in production, is this the Rock’s future superhero role? If so, will The Rock play Shazam or, as fans have long suspected, his nemesis Black Adam?

It’s also interesting that the studio seems to have chosen to separate Shazam from Justice League. Perhaps they want to present the character in a more fantasy-filled, lighter-toned style than the gritty science fiction tone of the DC Universe established in Man of Steel.

Either way, it’s interesting that a Shazam film would be mentioned considering it was previously believed to be cancelled. We know the Rock is interested, so maybe things will finally come together.

Matt Damon to play Aquaman?
Compiled by Tony Hicks

quote:
Remember all those Matt Damon jokes when it was announced Ben Affleck was going to play Batman? One may actually come true.

Film Drunk is reporting that Damon may play Aquaman in the Zack Snyder-directed Justice League film, which will be made concurrently with the upcoming Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman film for release in either 2017 or 2018.

Damon would join Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Godot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and the yet-to-be-cast Green Lantern and The Flash, the website reported.

Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman told the Wall Street Journal earlier this week: "It will be a further expansion of this universe. 'Superman vs. Batman' will lead into Justice League."

Though Silverman didn't reveal which other DC superheroes will join the fray, its widely speculated that we'll see the Flash, Aquaman and Green Lantern again, though it's unclear if Ryan Reynolds will return as Green Lantern.

Film Drunk reported that Jason Momoa also has been rumored for the Aquaman role. According to TheWrap, Momoa is expected to appear in "Batman vs. Superman" in some unknown capacity.

Repeat from what i said earlier but more clear.
quote:

Note-there are other african gods and superheroes and other folks of color as well in DC AND MARVEL not shown in this thread Or in the list i mention or those who are superheros and villains not shown on the list.

Some are not villains or superheros but neutral.

One of reasons is because some are new and some are not as popular or not enough room to add every black superhero or villain in Wikipedia.

The best way to find more about them is to check out the category lists like super strength, reality warping, speed, energy generation powers and other categories in marvel and DC.

Other ways of finding them are wiki DC AND MARVEL and comicvine and looking at superhero superpowers categories and type in list for black superheros,or asian superheros etc.. etc.. if you want to find other superheros of color.

So their are black and OTHER folks of color in dc and marvel but the best WAY to find out is to research new characters in both DC AND MARVEL OR what i said above to check older ones and new ones.

Ellie Waters
 -

An autistic girl who is taken by the Silver Surfer to the Great Ark for her special abilities.

Brief History

Ellie Waters is the daughter of Denise Waters, a phony fortune teller in New Orleans. Ellie was born autistic and does not speak or show affection to others. She has an incredible talent for art and draws constantly. One night while she was abducted by the alien known as the Silver Surfer. He took her to the Great Ark, a ship designed to help save life on Earth. She was to help create a perfect human race when Earth was destroyed by Marduk. The Great Ark was a planetary Noah's Ark. She was able to speak and the Surfer helped her and Gabe Acheron to learn to use their power and think pure thoughts. She grew very fond of one of the aliens, Amnel. Ellie was able to project thoughts to her mother from the ship. Soon Gabe and Ellie rebelled that they were being controlled to forget their lives on Earth. When the Silver Surfer learned from the Singularity that she was protected, he returned her to Earth.

On Earth, Ellie was hunted by government forces because of her abduction. They believed she was no longer human and was a dangerous threat. When they tried to take her she unleashed her power and killed thirteen agents and injured many more. This led to family friend Elvis Morin to drug Ellie and her mother so Ellie could be captured. Ellie was taken to Manuae Atoll, the island of Stewart Acheron, whose son was also abducted. As she was about to show him what had happened, the US military attacked, sensing she was going to harm him. They bombarded the island. When Ellie found out that Amnel had been killed, she used her powers to kill everyone in the area.

Ellie, her mother and the Silver Surfer end up inside Marduk. Ellie attempts to create a dream world with her mother and the Surfer, but he resists it. After the destruction of Earth, Marduk was then taken into the Singularity. It was here that Ayaman informed Ellie that she was one of three beings that make the universe possible. She is the Dreamer, the possibility of the universe. When she learns this, she uses her power to return everything to the way it was before. She remained the autistic daughter of Denise on Earth, as if nothing happened, although she now knew who she was, and had made slight changes for the better.

Ellie Waters and Silver Surfer

The Great Ark

The Surfer was next recruited by Ayaman to command a massive ship known as the Great Ark with the purpose of rebuilding life on Earth. An object known as Marduk was coming to destroy all life on Earth and none could stop it. The Surfer accepted this and began making preparations. He scanned the Earth and found children with special abilities which he abducted from their homes. With the help of some other aliens including Amnel , they planned on creating a new Utopian society on Earth after it's destruction so that Marduk would never return.

 -
Ellie Waters and Silver Surfer

Two of the children he chose were favored. One, Gabe Acheron , was chosen by the Surfer to lead the new people of Earth. The other was Ellie Waters, a girl with vast possibilities. He accelerated Gabe's evolution and told him the truth of the fate of Earth. Ellie also learned the truth and wished to return to Earth. When the Surfer spoke with the being known as the Singularity he learned she was protected and returned her to her mother.

But the plan to start life anew on Earth had changed. Ayaman foresaw the complete destruction of Earth and the children were to start over on the paradise planet Sof. But when the Surfer went to navigate the ship to take it to Sof, he could not. He was mentally torn and could not leave Ellie behind for her mother's sake. When he returned to Earth, he was attacked by the military. This caused Ellie to use her power for much destruction. Aboard the Ark, more bad things were happening when Gabe lost control of himself and committed murder. These were the events the Surfer tried to avoid for they were the events that would lead to Earth's complete destruction.

When faced with Marduk, the Surfer soon realized that it was Marduk all along that he had been serving. This angered the Surfer, for he had sworn never to be a servant of death again. He fought against the impossibly powerful Marduk and tried to save the Earth. He was unsuccessful. After the destruction of Earth, Marduk was taken into the Singularity. Ellie soon learned that she was an essential part of the universe and she could make anything possible. She used her power to recreate the Earth and return everything to as it was before Marduk's coming.

Parnell Jacobs (Earth-616)
 -

History
Parnell Jacobs knew Jim Rhodes, the previous War Machine, from his military days. He became a freelance mercenary after being discharged. Rhodes declined to join him, remarking that Parnell was now working for the 'scum that you and I joined the Corps to fight against'. Parnell became wealthy as a result of his mercenary activities and bought a number of luxuries for himself and his wife Glenda.

How Parnell came to associate with Stuart Clarke is unknown. He claims he found the lost War Machine armor and decided to use it rather than sell it.

He was drawn into conflict with Iron Man when ordered by Sunset Bain to attack a firm Tony Stark was scheduled to do consultation work for. Rhodes immediately alerted Stark. Even with Warbird assisting the injured Iron Man, Parnell was able to destroy the firm and escape the heroes.

Rhodes was able to identify Parnell after hearing a phrase he used on the news broadcast: "It looks like you weren't ready to play the game today."

After a second battle with Iron Man and subsequent confrontation with Rhodes and Glenda, Parnell abandoned his employer. He retained the War Machine armor although he discarded some additional weaponry Clarke had developed for it. Parnell's current whereabouts are unknown.

There are alot asian and asian origin gods and goddess in marvel comics.

AMATSU-KAMI (JAPANESE GODS)
 -

Powers/Abilities/Traits: The Amatsu-Kami all possess certain superhuman physical attributes. They are virtual immortals who age extremely slowly upon reaching adulthood, and they cannot die by conventional means. The Amatsu-Kami are immune to all terrestrial diseases and are resistant to conventional injury. If an Amatsu-Kami is wounded, his or her godly life force will enable him or her to recover at a superhuman rate. It would take an injury of such magnitude that it incinerates an Amatsu- Kami or disperses a major portion of his or her bodily molecules to cause him or her to die. Even then, it may be possible for a god of greater or equal power, or several gods acting together, to revive the deceased god before the god's life essence is beyond resurrection. Amatsu-Kami flesh and bone are about two times denser than similar human tissue, contributing to the gods' superhuman strength and weight. An average male god can lift about 20 tons; an average goddess can lift about 10 tons. Though generally weaker than Asgardian and Olympian deities, the Amatsu-Kami have proportionately faster reflexes. The gods' metabolism gives them superhuman endurance in all physical activities. Many Amatsu-Kami also possess additional superhuman powers. For instance, the water goddess Ame-No-Mi- Kumari can create instant tidal waves and floods.

Powers/Abilities/Traits: The Diwatas all possess certain superhuman physical attributes. They are true immortals who cease to age upon reaching adulthood, and they cannot die by conventional means. The Diwatas are immune to all terrestrial diseases and are resistant to conventional injury. If a Diwata is wounded, his or her godly life force will enable him or her to recover at a superhuman rate. It would take an injury of such magnitude that it incinerates a Diwata or disperses a major portion of his or her bodily molecules to cause him or her to die. Even then, it may be possible for a god of greater or equal power, or several gods acting together, to revive the deceased god before the god's life essence is beyond resurrection. Diwata flesh and bone are about two-and-a-half times denser than similar human tissue, contributing to the gods' superhuman strength and weight. An average male god can lift about 25 tons; an average goddess can lift about 20 tons. The gods' metabolism gives them superhuman endurance in all physical activities. In addition, many Diwatas possess additional superhuman powers that may be magical in nature. For instance, the wind god Amihan possesses the ability to generate powerful monsoons. Diwatas are extremely attuned to all aspects of nature. However, Diwatas tend to weaken after prolonged stays in the Earth realm, and often bind their life essences to mortal hosts when away from Kaluwalhatian for extended periods.

Powers/Abilities/Traits: The Xian all possess certain superhuman physical attributes. Although many Xian begin existence as mortals, upon eating the Peaches of Immortality ("P'an-t'ao") and achieving apotheosis, they are transformed into true immortals who cease to age and cannot die by conventional means. The Xian are immune to all terrestrial diseases and are resistant to conventional injury. If a Xian is wounded, his or her godly life force will enable him or her to recover at a superhuman rate. It would take an injury of such magnitude that it incinerates a Xian or disperses a major portion of his or her bodily molecules to cause him or her to die. Even then, it may be possible for a god of greater or equal power, or several gods acting together, to revive the deceased god before the god's life essence is beyond resurrection. Xian flesh and bone are about two times denser than similar human tissue, contributing to the gods' superhuman strength and weight. An average male god can lift about 20 tons; an average goddess can lift about 10 tons. Though generally weaker than Asgardian and Olympian deities, the Xian have proportionately faster reflexes. The gods' metabolism gives them superhuman endurance in all physical activities. Many Xian also possess additional superhuman powers derived from properly balancing the positive and negative "chi" energy within their physical forms. For instance, the thunder god Lei Gong possesses a drum and mallet that he uses to produce destructive blasts of thunder. Whereas most other Earth-based pantheons are akin to familial clans, the Xian are analogous to a vast government bureaucracy with a strict hierarchy of clearly defined roles and powers.

Akua flesh and bone are about twice as dense as similar human tissue, contributing to the gods' superhuman strength and weight. An average male god can lift about 20 tons; an average goddess can lift about 10 tons. Though generally weaker than Asgardian and Olympian deities, the Akua have proportionately faster reflexes. The gods' metabolism gives them superhuman endurance in all physical activities. Many Akua also possess additional superhuman powers, and many can achieve greater superhuman feats upon accumulating high levels of internal mana - the life force that resides within all living things. For instance, the volcano goddess Pele can control fire and magma and project intense heat. Many Akua are also skilled shape-shifters.

Snowbird is a metamorph who is able to change into a pale white version of any creature native to the Canadian Arctic. She can also transform into a female human being; her true face is not human. In this form, she has blonde hair and blue eyes, but they are usually depicted as being solid black with white pupils. When she transforms, she gains all the strength and special abilities of what she transforms into. For example, if she becomes an owl, she would be able to fly. She can draw additional mass from an unidentified and presumably mystical source when she takes the form of an animal whose mass and volume are greater than her base form; she sheds this mass upon return to human form. When she takes the form of an animal whose mass and volume are less than those of a human being, she becomes a human-sized version of that animal. Some things she has transformed into are a swarm of mosquitoes, a sperm whale,[volume & issue needed] Tanaraq (the true form of Sasquatch),[volume & issue needed] the monster Wendigo,[volume & issue needed] etc. She even transformed into a wolverine and beat Wendigo by ripping him to shreds.

However, Snowbird's personality becomes overlaid with the character traits and instinctual patterns of whatever animal's form she is using at the time. Furthermore, the greater the amount of time she spends as a certain animal, the stronger the impression of that animal's psyche on her personality. If she remains in one form for an extended period of time, she risks having her personality fixed as that of the animal, and therefore of never transforming back. Also, transforming from one animal to another without first changing into her base form causes her great strain. However, both of these limitations have been reduced or removed following her resurrection: she has since been shown to talk in animal form, and she transformed from a mountain lion to Wendigo with no strain at all.

In her base form, Snowbird has superhuman strength, stamina, durability, agility, and reflexes. When she transforms into an animal, she takes the strength and abilities of whatever she transforms into. She also has the ability to fly, but her base form's speed was never stated, and she often assumes the form of a snow owl when she wants to fly. She would also gain the speed of any creature that she transformed into. She has the mental ability to compel others to aid her in her struggle against the Great Beasts, and once mentally controlled Northstar to aid Alpha Flight against them.

After a battle with the Great Beast Kolomaq, Snowbird was badly wounded when suddenly a "healing glow" came over her and all her wounds were instantly healed.[volume & issue needed] This occurs in her base form, but whether she can instantly heal in her other forms is not known. Many years after her death, Alpha Flight found Snowbird in a cylinder in the A.I.M. headquarters. They rescued her and determined that she has an advanced form of cellular rejuvenation. Once she was buried and began to decay, this regeneration process was initiated and carried to fruition over a considerable length of time. This contradicts the fact that currently Sasquatch possesses Snowbird's body, after his was destroyed, and that the body became male. This continuity error has never been addressed.

Snowbird grew to adulthood with unusual rapidity and went through an entire pregnancy in two weeks. She has all the knowledge and wisdom of the gods of the Arctic, but due to her young age she does not know how to fully use it, as she is technically only a few years old. She also has the ability of "postcognition", to envision events that happened up to six hours in the past in her immediate present vicinity. She can replay events in the area, but only she is capable of seeing them. It is unknown if she can do this in forms other than her base form.

Being a mystical creature herself, she can pick up and sense various mystical activities from various places. She has mystical senses enabling her to detect the presence of magical energies or the breaching of a magical field. She can also resist teleportation. Talisman of Alpha Flight tried and failed to teleport her back to their headquarters.

Shaman's binding process initially restricted her from leaving Canada; upon doing so she would become weaker, although she once went to the United States with the X-Men and was not affected.[volume & issue needed] This restriction was temporarily lifted by Hodiak when Snowbird joined the God Squad during Sacred Invasion.

DAEVAS (HINDU GODS)

 -

Powers/Abilities/Traits: The Daevas all possess certain superhuman physical attributes. They are true immortals who cease to age upon reaching adulthood, and they cannot die by conventional means. The Daevas are immune to all terrestrial diseases and are resistant to conventional injury. If a Daeva is wounded, his or her godly life force will enable him or her to recover at a superhuman rate. It would take an injury of such magnitude that it incinerates a Daeva or disperses a major portion of his or her bodily molecules to cause him or her to die. Even then, it may be possible for a god of greater or equal power, or several gods acting together, to revive the deceased Daeva before the god's life essence is beyond resurrection. Daeva flesh and bone are about three times denser than similar human tissue, contributing to the gods' superhuman strength and weight. An average male god can lift about 40 tons; an average goddess can lift about 35 tons. However, the upper limits of the strength possessed by the Trimurti (Brahma, Shiva & Vishnu) are unrevealed. The gods' metabolism gives them superhuman endurance in all physical activities. Many Daevas possess four or more arms, and many possess additional superhuman powers that may be magical in nature. For instance, the god Shiva possesses a third eye that projects energy capable of enthralling those in his vicinity.

Variety reports that "Victor Stone or Cyborg, while not a major part in the Batman-Superman feature, is a member of the Justice League, and the role will become much more significant role as Warner and DC develop more films related to the Justice League universe, sources confirm."

Post-Flashpoint (New 52)
After the events of Flashpoint, DC Comics relaunched their entire comic catalog. In this continuity, Cyborg is now one of the seven founding members of the Justice League (replacing the Martian Manhunter), having never served with Teen Titan. He makes his first appearance in Justice League #1 but not as part of the team. In fact, he's a high school football player who hasn't even become "Cyborg" yet. After the Darkseid invasion, Victor was gravely injured and later cybernetically enhanced by his father.

Post-Flashpoint: Earth-0
A Hero Is Born (Post-Flashpoint)
Vic Stone is a star wide receiver for the Ford Titans, a high school football team. He has an interest in super human activities but is more focused on going to college, earning a football scholarship, and hoping his father makes it to his games. Vic and his father have a distant relationship and after missing several games, Victor finally ventures to S.T.A.R Labs to confront him. Silas tells his son that given the current state of metahumans starting to show up around the planet, Vic's love for football is going to become irrelevant at some point. Discouraged, Victor begins to leave when everything takes a tragic turn, as a Mother Box unit springs to life and opens a Boom Tube. Victor and several scientists are fatally injured or killed by the boom tube energy.

 -
Justice League Issue 1: Cyborg's Game

Not intending to lose his son the same way he lost his wife, Silas outfits Vic with experimental bionics that have been reverse engineered from alien technology found around the globe. With aid from T.O. Morrow and Sarah Charles, Vic's life is saved and the energies from the motherbox are incorporated into his new form as Cyborg. This allows Victor to access the vast New Gods data library and discover Darkseid's true invasion plans. After aiding in sending Darkseid back where he came from, Cyborg helps to found the Justice League. He has not begun any process of reconciliation with his father, who is primarily concerned with Victor's mechanics rather than his humanity.

After the villain David Graves makes an attack against the Justice League, Cyborg and his team mates travel to the valley of souls. There he learns that he walks the line between life and death--meaning that part of his soul has left his body. He sees a false apparition of his human self that tries to convince him that Victor Stone is dead and Cyborg is just an imitation. Victor quickly sees past this ruse, and he and the rest of the Justice League defeat Graves. The situation lead to Vic embracing who he has become, not a young man who has lost his humanity, but a man who has learned to be a hero through shocking means. Allowing Vic to start to forgive his father, as he knows his father was just trying to save his life.

Throne of Atlantis

To help retrieve Superman and Wonder Woman from the depths of the ocean floor, Victor upgraded his suit to have an Environmental Mode that allows him to operate underwater. He then commenced a world wide League recruitment initiate to combat the Atlanteans hostiles

Powers and Abilities
Cyborg possesses cybernetic enhancements that provide superhuman strength, endurance and durability. Cyborg can also interface with computers. Built into his body-armor were an infrared eye, computer generator, sound amplifier, and special programming adapters that allowed him to interface with other body extensions.

Shape-Change: (formerly) He also has virtually unlimited shape-changing ability, and can mimic even air or space vehicles. He can reshape his entire body or parts of it and can form such complex shapes as a tank a bicycle or even a gun and simple forms as a cloud or a spring.

Body Resistance: The nature of Cyborg's body provides him with natural body armor offering resistance versus physical damage and energy attacks.

Superhuman Strength: At optimal capacity, Vic can lift/press in excess of four metric tons. If he pushes himself, he can even exceed five tons, but not without causing severe stress to his cybernetic components. Cyborg's upper strength limits have fluctuated with upgrades to his systems over time.

Superhuman Speed: He possessed a degree of superspeed and could leap great distances.

Superhuman Endurance

Superhuman Durability: His bones are reinforced with molybdenum-steel.

Computer Interfacing - Cyborg has been shown to be able to interface with the Red Room's computer systems as well as hacking into a Mother Box and opening multiple Boom Tubes to Apokolips before closing them again. Also he brought up files such as divorce records on Spore's alter ego.

Teleportation - Cyborg is capable of using opening Boom Tubes to transport himself and the League to various locations. However, one out of every thousand 'Jumps' results in Cyborg transporting him and whoever is with him to Apokolips.

Integrated Weapons: His arsenal included a finger laser attachment, telescopic eyepiece, sonic disrupter, electric shockers, grappling hooks, and winches.

Rocket

Icon's partner and friend, Rocket has a inertia belt that allows her to fly and form shields of kinetic energy. She's outspoken, liberal, and one of the first teenage mothers in comics.

Origin
Raquel Ervin was born in Paris Island, the poorest, most crime-ridden neighborhood in Dakota. Although she is only the sidekick of the title character, Icon, she is the actual protagonist of the series. She yearned to become a writer ("just like Toni Morrison"), but lacked the motivation. That is, until she met Augustus Freeman IV, a corporate lawyer who was secretly a stranded alien with superhuman powers. This occurred while she and her friends were robbing Freeman's home. Raquel convinced Augustus to become the superhero Icon, and to take her on as his sidekick, Rocket. While in costume, she wore a belt Icon fashioned out of his escape pod's inertia winder, which allowed her to manipulate kinetic energy.and Denys Cowan

Creation
Rocket was created by was created by Dwayne McDuffie, Mark Bright and Denys Cowan

Character Evolution

Dakotaverse
Shortly after she began adventuring with Icon, Raquel discovered that she was pregnant by her ex-boyfriend, Noble. She decided to keep the baby, becoming the first single teenage mother in comics. She gave birth to a son, whom she named Amistad Augustus Ervin, named "Amistad" after famous ship that brought slaves over from Africa to America, and "Augustus" after Augustus Freeman IV, the Human alias of Dakota City superhero Icon. During her pregnancy, Raquel trained her best friend Darnice to temporarily assume duties as Rocket. Raquel eventually resumed her role as Rocket. Rocket also assists the Blood Syndicate member Flashback in fighting her addiction to crack cocaine.

 -
Rocket (Dakotaverse)

Rocket was more liberal than Icon, which caused them to clash on a number of occasions. She befriended Static, another teenage superhero from Dakota City. While it has been hinted that someday they might become more than friends, their relationship remained platonic throughout the run of their respective titles.

DC Universe / Modern Age: New Earth

In the revised Milestone continuity (which has apparently always existed in the DC Universe), Rocket is still partnered with Icon, who appears to have an existing friendship with Superman and is exempt from prosecution at the hands of the Green Lantern Corps.

 -
Rocket (New Earth)

Major Story Arcs
Dakotaverse:

Milestone Forever

Rocket is instrumental in helping Flashback officially kick her drug addiction, and Dharma feels that she has a greater purpose but is still overall unclear to what that may be. Ten years into the future, it has been hinted that she has taken the mantle of ICON.

Powers and Abilities

Inertia winder:

All of Rocket's superhuman powers derive from the inertia winder installed in her belt buckle.

Force Field:

When activated, the inertia winder surrounds Rocket in an "inertia field," which absorbs, stores, and redirects any kinetic energy used against it. This field protects her from anything invested with kinetic energy: physical blows, bullets, falls, falling debris, etc. The inertia field normally extends a few inches from Rocket's body, but she can expand the field to much greater sizes. She once enclosed a crowd of about 50 people within her field without it losing its durability.

Flight:
Rocket is able to project stored energy in blasts usually from her hands over a distance, causing great damage depending on the amount of energy she uses. She can also fly by releasing the stored kinetic energy beneath her, launching her skyward. She is particularly skilled in this ability, able to perform complex aerial maneuvers and hover by controlling the amount of energy released.

Energy Field:
Rocket has also learned to how to use her inertia winder to surround her opponents in an "inertialess field" which negates any kinetic energy within it down to the molecular level, effectively immobilizing them. Some opponents even fall unconscious because the field can prevent oxygen molecules from reaching their lungs.

Other Uses:

Other uses of his field includes imbuing objects with large amounts of kinetic energy when thrown increasing their speed, effectively allowing her to throw rocks at the speed of bullets. Alternatively she can release this energy when she throws a punch delivering enough shock force to stagger beings as powerful as Icon if she uses a high enough amount.

Hand-to-Hand Combat:

A former high school gymnast, she is very agile and has quick reflexes. Rocket is also a good hand-to-hand combatant due to her crime-fighting experience as Icon's sidekick.

Rocket has appeared in Young Justice comic book which is base on the T.V Shows.

Rocket appears in the animated series Young Justice, starting off in several brief cameos before joining the main cast at the end of the first season. She first appears in "Revelation," where she battles one of Poison Ivy's plant creatures during the Injustice League's attack on several major cities. She later reappears in "Failsafe" as one of the Earth's heroes who repels an alien invasion, although this was only an illusion created by Miss Martian as a training exercise.

She officially becomes a member of the team upon Icon's induction into the Justice League. She first joins the group during a mission to locate Cheshire, which leads to an ambush orchestrated by the Riddler. She is shown to harbor an attraction to Aqualad, who helps her after she is attacked by Apokoliptian weaponry.
