Triumph Division
 -

The Triumph Division, or "Pangkat ng Tagumpay" in Tagalog, is the primary super group of the Philippines.

Triumph Division
The Triumph Division is a group of Filipino superheroes; its members inherit their code names through their family generations. Since birth, they have been trained to become the next line of superheroes for their country.

One of its generation died from a suicide bombing attack from Buddhist monks during a ceremonial recognition after defending the Philippines from a tsunami. This attack was ordered under the leadership of Ezekiel Stane. After the catastrophe, Iron Man, as director of SHIELD, along with Thor, visited the funeral of its members to pay their respects. A few days after the incident, Iron Man visited the new line up of the Triumph Division, familial predecessors of those who died in the attack. After meeting the new group, they reminded him of the early days of the Avengers, and he stated that the Philippines is in great hands.

Their base of operations is near Manila, in the Triumph Hall (modeled after an actual church in Quezon City).

Creation
Triumph Division was created by Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca in 2008 and first appeared in Invincible Iron Man # 2.

THE HORSEMEN- African Superheroes by Jiba Molei Anderson

 -

 -

 -

“The Horsemen are seven people who have been possessed by the gods of Ancient Africa to save humanity from itself…. We are too often distracted by things like organized religion, politics, commerce, technology, war, lust, life and death. These are ‘diversions’ that keep us from seeing the bigger picture. The Horsemen are here to shake us out of our stupor and help guide us to a higher sense of being.”

“The Orisha emerged from a deep slumber. Seeing that their mission had been perverted, they had set about to free us… whether we wanted them to or not. The Horsemen returned. And their presence has changed the world.

But, what if there were others not Orisha, not Deitis, not Human, but something more, a new Race? What side would they choose in the coming war?

And, who truly controls the Eight Immortals but the number seven?”

Jiba Molei Anderson’s groundbreaking property, The Horsemen, rides again

The first two issues of the second mini-series, The Book of Olorun are available now at Wowio, Luluand Drive Thru Comics as well as in select comic book shops.”

Teaser Trailer For 'Oya: Rise of the Orishas' - Project Resurrecting Orishas As Modern Day Superheroes

by Tambay A. Obenson
March 14, 2014 5:50 PM

 -

How fast time flies; It feels like it was just a few months ago when I first wrote about this upcoming project.

But it was actually a full year ago - February 2013!

And a year later, a first teaser trailer for the film has surfaced, which I received in my email inbox this morning!

First, let's get caught up... for those who are just joining us, and also as a refresher for others.

I've previously said on Twitter and Facebook that any one, or any few from the pantheon of Orishas will make for great fodder for a feature film - whether a literal translation, or (getting creative) as superheroes, especially as Hollywood seems to be superhero movie happy right now.

The time is right for a filmmaker to take something like this on! And a filmmaker is doing just that (there of course might be others I don't know about).

British filmmaker Nosa Igbinedion is that filmmaker. And his film is titled Oya: Rise of the Orishas.

Here's a description of the project:

The film resurrects mythical deities from African folklore, known as Orishas, into modern-day superheroes in Britain. The film will be presented In a visually unique style drawing inspiration from related genres, including sci-fi, action and martial arts and presenting a truly phenomenal spectacle in the art of film. According to the Yoruba religion of Nigeria Orishas are a collective of charismatic deities with specialised supernatural gifts, powers and responsibilities. Tradition has it that these supernatural beings once walked the earth with humanity. We will tell a story that has not been heard before and discover worlds that have not yet been explored in Black British Cinema. These rich worlds and stories have been carried in peoples' minds for millennia and told mostly orally. Amazingly, this culture has not been visualised on the British silver screen, until now.

It actually really hasn't been explored in American cinema either as well - certainly not Hollywood studio cinema! There've been indie documentaries that touch on the subject, but I can't immediately recall a feature-length fiction film that has.

And the pantheon of Orishas is deep! Eshu, Obatala, Ogun, Oshun, Shango, and countless others - each, as Nosa notes in his above description, with their own individual powers and responsibilities - a perfect set up for any filmmaker to get creative with. A nice chunk of your work is already done!

I should also note that you'll find Orisha lineages all over the Diaspora, not just in Nigeria (see South America and the Caribbean especially).

By the way, Oya, the Orisha in the title of Nosa's upcoming film, is considered a warrior, and some of her powers are really not all that different from Storm of the X-Men. Oya can control the weather; but she can do, and is responsible for much more than that. She's considered very powerful, even indestructible, and is believed to have been romantically-linked to both Ogun and Shango.

To make this project happen, Nosa (who's actually a visuals effects pro, by the way, which should assist here) took to Indiegogo to raise money, and drew just over $6,600, although his goal was to raise $7,500; but thankfully Indiegogo, unlike Kickstarter, lets you keep what you raise, even if you don't reach your goal.

Nosa's plan was/is to produce a short version of what will eventually become a feature-length film, as we've seen other filmmakers do repeatedly in the past, which he'll then use to raise money for the feature.

This is an approach I've always championed - especially if you're a relatively unknown filmmaker. Show them what you can do first; win over their confidence; and then, hopefully, they'll want to invest in you.

So this is just a prelude to what's coming down the pike.

He's already created a website for the project HERE; a Facebook page HERE; and a Twitter account HERE. So you can follow the project's progress.

Ethosheia Hylton stars in the film.

And without further ado, here's a teaser look at the upcoming short version of Oya: Rise of the Orishas:

Film: Oya – Rise of the Orishas

 -

You may have heard about this promising new action film coming out of London later this year. Oya: Rise of the Orishas is writer and director Nosa Igbinedion‘s unique resurrection of mythical deities from African folklore, known as Orishas, into modern day superheroes in Britain. Sounds fascinating right? Here’s the synopsis:

For centuries the doorway between the world of the Orishas and our world has remained closed, until now. Our hero, Ade, is one of the few people with a connection to one of the gods, Oya. She has been tasked with the job of protecting the innocent and that means keeping the door to the gods shut. If the doorway to the gods is opened, they will wreak chaos upon us as retribution for our abandonment of them. To keep the door shut, she must find ‘the key’, a young girl with the potential to open the doorway, and keep her safe.

The adventure unfolds with a host of memorable characters and a string of unexpected twists, Ade, goes in search of the key, battling against those who wish to open portal and unleashing a horde of forgotten gods and goddesses into the world, with powers and skills beyond our comprehensive and supernatural gifts which will change the course of history for mankind, forever.

The crowd-funding campaign for “Oya: Rise of the Orishas” begins today, Thursday February 28th. Check out the website to find out how you can get involved in this nuanced exploration of African folklore with a modern spin. Follow the film on twitter @Oyamovie

Africa’s First Superhero? Leti Arts Releases Ananse Comics And Game on Android, Java

 -

Gaming is where it’s at these days. Leti Arts, a MEST Ghana-backed startup has released the first issue in a digital comic book series and mobile game titled “The True Ananse”. The series is a contemporary reimagining of the ancient tale of the African trickster god that are said to originate from the Ashanti culture in Ghana.

quote:
Caught in a web of lies and deceit, Kweku Ananse was cast from the realm of immortals and imprisoned on Earth. For centuries he has brooded, plotting his return to the heavens, until one unsuspecting boy crosses his path.
 -

legends The True Ananse is but the first installment of a larger Africa Legends series, which as you can see are filled with spandex-wearing, visored superheroes. For distribution, Leti Arts has gone the platform route. Instead of releasing standalone apps, their comics and games will be bundled into a downloadable compendium called the Leti Center. Users will be notified of new titles and updates via push notifications. The first issue of The True Ananse is free to download. However, the emphasis on “free” suggests that subsequent editions in the series might attract a fee. The game and comic series is available on on Android via Google Play and via direct download for Java devices. Windows Phone, Nokia and iOS versions are said to be on the way.

Disingenuous John Stewart “Fans” + July 2014 Solicitations

by Desh on April 23, 2014

quote:

 -

There’s an issue in Green Lantern fandom I’d like to address. It involves who is and isn’t a fan of Green Lantern John Stewart. I honestly don’t like saying who is and who isn’t a fan of something. People express their fandom in different ways and come into fandoms from different sources. I recognize that, and don’t disparage people over how or why they are a fan. However, I am going to break this rule of thumb in this instance, and question certain people’s fandom, because this is a special case.

Ever since I’ve been into Green Lantern, I’ve noticed people who claim they are fans of John Stewart, but they really aren’t. They are usually Hal Jordan fans. I would like you to keep that in mind while I take a relevant detour and turn our attention to former Green Lantern writer, Geoff Johns.

The above image -wonderfully drawn by Ivan Reis- is an example of why I criticize Geoff Johns so much. “Someone call for backup?” Really!?

Johns would love to keep John Stewart in the role he originally had in the 1970s; a “backup Lantern” who hardly ever showed up. An understudy who appeared during the rare instances Hal Jordan was unable to. Essentially, he was an infrequent supporting character in the wonderful world of Hal Jordan. Have a look at this other image from the Geoff Johns era of Green Lantern:

 -

You’ll notice that early into this scene, John Stewart identifies himself as “Hal Jordan’s partner.” In other words, his whole identity is pretty much what he is in relation to Hal Jordan. Saying, “Name’s John Stewart. I’m Hal Jordan’s partner,” would be okay if he was introducing himself out loud to some friend or acquaintance of Hal Jordan’s who did not know him. Yet, there John is, having an inner monologue identifying himself as what he is in relation to Hal Jordan.

This is an example of what Geoff Johns has done to John Stewart, which is downright insulting to his fans. He refused to acknowledge that John Stewart has legitimately and organically evolved out of that supporting character role. He liked to paint an image showing John Stewart as unimportant, a side character, and not noteworthy. Not just compared to Hal Jordan, but to all the Earth Green Lanterns. Geoff Johns was likely bitter over the fact that many people came to know John Stewart as Green Lantern. John was shining bright on the television sets of millions of people, being cemented in their minds as THE Green Lantern, while his favorite -Hal Jordan- was rotting in the grave. Johns is a fanboy who has been put in a position of power, and like a fanboy, he childishly took his revenge against a character he does not like. He probably heard people saying things like, “Oh yeah. I know Green Lantern. That cool Black superhero,” which burned him up similarly to people saying “Aquaman is the lamest superhero,” burns him up.

Geoff Johns often throws telling a great narrative aside to biasedly prove a point about his favorite and least favorite heroes. His playing of favorites is incredibly transparent and something many people across comic fandom have noted. What I’m pointing out with John Stewart is a very real example of him doing this. YES, Johns is an incredibly biased comic book fanboy! It is a well-established fact. He’s not entirely unlike the many you may see on the internet. Do you think those fanboys are above performing petty acts like that?

I certainly don’t.

As writer of Green Lantern, and undisputed creative mastermind of the franchise, Johns’ word was ‘law’ and canon. Thus his horrible disrespect of Green Lantern John Stewart, teamed with his burning passion for Hal Jordan, gave plenty of Geoff Johns’ toady fans fodder to denigrate John Stewart and proclaim the singular greatness of Hal Jordan, which I believe is essentially what Geoff Johns wanted to achieve.

He set up a perception where Hal Jordan was undoubtedly the “main Green Lantern,” and clearly superior to John Stewart, who was a frequently absent, boring background supporting character. This was Johns taking a massive passive aggressive dump on all the people who came to greatly respect the John Stewart character from the Justice League cartoons and identify him as being the Green Lantern. And, of course, we know this lasted for a very long time. After much patient waiting, it became apparent that so long as Geoff Johns was overseeing Green Lantern, John Stewart wasn’t going to get anywhere.

From a short Twitter discussion I had with the producer of Green Lantern: The Animated Series, I learned there were unrealized plans to bring John Stewart into the show. That sounds exciting, right?

No. Not really. Because I’m guessing if that happened, John Stewart would be a supporting character, just as I feel he would have been in some hypothetical Green Lantern film that would have happened if the 2011 Green Lantern movie was a success. There is great reason to believe John Stewart would have been some kind of stooge of Hal Jordan’s, while Hal Jordan would likely remain the lead hero.

That is why -I’m just going to say- the success of that cartoon show and the 2011 film was not in a John Stewart fan’s best interest, regardless of whether we’d get to see him in some capacity or not. What was in our best interest is exactly what happened. Now, John Stewart has a legitimate great chance of being THE Green Lantern next time Warner Bros. decides to use Green Lantern in a meaningful role in animation or film. Indeed, most people who address the current state of Green Lantern in those sectors of entertainment are telling Warner Bros. they want a reboot featuring John Stewart as the lead.

The people who I say are not true fans of John Stewart are people who support the structure Geoff Johns built, and who DO NOT want to see John Stewart headline the franchise. They are people who are okay with John Stewart being around, and who don’t openly blast the character (unlike the people who are overtly against him), but who are only okay with him so long as he doesn’t have a better role than Hal Jordan. To me, one cannot be a John Stewart fan yet still wish for his hindrance. To me, one cannot be a John Stewart fan depending only on his relation to another character. Green Lantern isn’t set up to work that way.

To explain that better, I’d like to momentarily consider the Sailor Moon franchise. I don’t think Sailor Mars fans typically want her to usurp Sailor Moon’s position, even though they may like Sailor Mars better, because of her personality, character design, character arc, and so on. Sailor Mars was never meant for that position, and she never organically grew into a role where it was plausible for her to be in that position. These Hal Jordan fans would like for John Stewart to be like Sailor Mars. They may think John Stewart is okay, just as many Sailor Moon fans like Sailor Mars. They may think he has a place, and they may think it’s cool if you like him best. However, in their minds, John Stewart is not meant to be THE Green Lantern, just as Sailor Mars is not meant to be the focus of the Sailor Moon franchise. To them, he is a “secondary character” and that is all he should be. There is a glass ceiling, and he cannot rise above it. To them, maybe if Hal Jordan is really successful, John can enjoy some of that and get a spin off.

 -

 -

 -

But real John Stewart fans recognize the situation isn’t comparable. John Stewart is no Sailor Mars. Real John Stewart fans recognize that John Stewart is GREEN LANTERN. Real John Stewart fans recognize the character organically grew out of his role as a supporting character a long time ago, to the point where a lot of people think he’s THE Green Lantern. Real John Stewart fans recognize that his profile is higher than Hal Jordan’s, and it’s definitely more respected, seeing as the only thing Hal Jordan has done on any level compared to what John has, is star in a critically panned financial flop of a film.

So, those who like to hold John Stewart in that Sailor Mars category ARE NOT JOHN STEWART FANS, simply on grounds of them not genuinely having John Stewart’s or his fans’ best interests at heart. If John Stewart legitimately steps above Hal Jordan, and they are dissatisfied by that, THEY ARE NOT JOHN STEWART FANS.

Just to clarify, I’m not saying every Green Lantern fan has to be a zealot on one side or the other. I’m sure there are many people who would be welcoming to either Green Lantern, but the individuals in question are not those people. Do not be fooled by the so-called John Stewart fan who appears in an attempt to shut you up if you speak out against the character’s treatment while Geoff Johns was overseeing the franchise, and who then proceeds to tell you why Hal Jordan should be Green Lantern, despite financial bombs. No matter what they say, these individuals do not care about what is best for the John Stewart character, nor do they have the best interests of John Stewart fans in mind. If they were really fans, why would they be so against John Stewart’s advancement, be so blind or apathetic to his mistreatment during the Johns years, and take such offense when someone mentions it?

I think this why i am becoming more of or have become more of blue marvel fan recently then green lantern or john stewart fan
I maybe HAVE BECOME MORE OF a fan of ICON then john stewart at this point.
They could be tie however, hard to say still.

I already became more of a marvel fan again anyway recently.

To some john will always be seen as a backup or replacement.

That's why i am becoming a little bit more of a fan of original superheros that are really powerful then those that are just backups and really powerful, black or white etc....

I realize overtime superheros that start out as backup's or replacements but still have the same title is always seen by some as not as good or not the real one.

John stewart join another group briefly called the darkststars and had another title.
Maybe he should have just stayed with THEM.

John stewart is still a great character,so i am still sticking with him as one of my top favorites, but he is not at top top any more, but all this talk i hear OR READ from some saying that john is not a true green lantern etc.. just makes me want to be more of a fan of a few other superheros that are really powerful,AND have a more independent or independent and original origin LIKE some of the ONES I just mention above.

I guess john stewart may not show up as green lantern in the big screen after all.
Anyway i never thought i would rather see a blue marvel movie or maybe even icon movie before a john stewart movie now.
Wow things have changed.

Blue marvel or the new captain universe may show up on the big screen or small sceen in live action before wb/dc puts out a john stewart movie or even him showing up at all in live action.

Heck i read or heard they were going to kill john stewart off,and for me that made things abit worse.
Of course dc said no,so it's hard to say if they really were going to do it or not.
Anyway he is not treated as badly as before in comics under john writing but still some of the damage for me was done.

Note- i started out as dc fan when i young because i knew less a about marvel, but over time became more of a marvel fan,but i stop buying comics for while and lost track,so i did not know what was going on in marvel and dc ,but the justice league cartoon with john stewart overtime made more of fan of dc again and it tied marvel, but recently i stared become a little bit more of a marvel fan mainly because of john stewart.

SINCE i lost track what marvel was doing i only caught up abit recently and i realized what they have done and still doing so i changed my mind recently again, and now i am more of a marvel fan again.

The superheros/characters in marvel on average just interested me abit more again now.

Anyway to read comments what others think open link below.

Steel (John Henry Irons)

Steel (John Henry Irons), also known as the Man of Iron, is a fictional character, a superhero in the DC Universe. First appearing in The Adventures of Superman #500 (June 1993), he is the second character known as Steel and was created by Louise Simonson and artist Jon Bogdanove. Aspects of the character are clearly inspired by the African American folk hero John Henry, as well as Superman.

Steel
 -

John Henry Irons as Steel, as seen in the "Reign of the Supermen" story arc.

 -
The various incarnations of Steel.

 -
Steel, as appeared in Superman: The Animated Series.

 -
Shaquille O'Neal as Steel.

Abilities
Currently:
Genius engineer and inventor
Powered armor grants:
Superhuman strength, durability, and endurance
Flight
Various other cybernetic armaments
Variety of communication and sensor arrays
Wields seemingly indestructible mallet
Formerly:
Living steel
Bulletproof stainless steel skin
Ability to generate heat and become fluid molten steel

Powers and abilities
John Henry Irons has no superhuman abilities; however, he is an extraordinary inventor and engineer, and a natural athlete who frequently displays an impressive degree of strength. In addition, he wears a suit of powered armor which grants him flight, enhanced strength, and endurance. Steel modified his suit many times through his career. The initial "Man of Steel" design was armed with a wrist-mounted rivet gun and the sledgehammer (like the one used by his namesake John Henry) that was ubiquitous for most of his designs. The original design on his breastplate featured a metal version of Superman's "S" insignia in tribute to the (temporarily) deceased hero, which Irons removed after the return of Superman. Two later armor designs incorporated a similar, but different, "S" symbol. A large hammer is also a key weapon in the suit's arsenal. His most current "smart hammer" hits harder the farther it is thrown, is capable of independent flight, and has an on-board computer guidance and analysis system capable of detecting a target's stress points.

When he wore the Entropy Aegis, he had god-like strength and durability and could enlarge himself to giant size. He also had the ability of flight due to energy wings, could travel through time and space at will, and could fire blasts of energy that would reduce a target to its composite elements. However, the Aegis made him very violent and was slowly erasing his soul.

During the 52 event, John Henry Irons was altered by the Everyman Project and had become composed of stainless steel due to Lex Luthor tampering with John's DNA without John's consent. Steel's strength and durability were now on a superhuman level. In addition, he could generate enough heat to turn metal fluid (including his own body, which he can then drip off of himself in small amounts). In 52 Week 29, the metal skin peeled off completely, leaving him, again, a normal human. He has since returned to using powered armor of a design similar to his original "Man of Steel" armor.

In other media
Television
quote:

John Henry Irons has appeared in Superman: The Animated Series voiced by Michael Dorn. John Henry Irons is a designer for LexCorp, worked to create a prototype suit of powered armor for the Metropolis SCU, but the suit's neural interface system had adverse psychological effects on its user Sgt. Corey Mills. Encouraged by Superman, Irons worked to perfect the suit with the help of his niece Natasha, becoming the superhero Steel just in time to help Superman in a battle against Metallo. The animated Steel is missing the cape he adapted from Superman after he saved John's life in Superman: The Man of Steel #19, and lacks his 'S' shield (although he does wear a jersey with a 5 on the front, a possible homage). In his premiere episode "Heavy Metal", his rivet guns were replaced with forearm-mounted lasers.

Steel later appeared as a member of the Justice League in the 2004 premiere of Justice League Unlimited voiced by Phil LaMarr. He has appeared regularly in the company of Superman and Supergirl.

Film
quote:

In 1997, a feature film was produced based on this version of the character. The film Steel stars professional basketball player Shaquille O'Neal in the title role and Judd Nelson as a new villain named Nathaniel Burke. The film was originally designed to be a spin-off of the new Superman film that used the Death of Superman storyline that first introduced the character in the comics. The project languished in development hell for so long the spinoff moved forward without the film it was to be attached to. The movie (released on August 15) was considered a flop both critically and financially. Steel was produced for an estimated $16,000,000 but grossed $1,686,429 at the box office.

A very young John Henry Irons appears in the animated film Justice League: The New Frontier reading a comic book nearby the gravestone of the "DC: The New Frontier" version of John Wilson, also known as John Henry, who is reportedly killed in the film.

Radio
quote:

British radio producer Dirk Maggs produced a Superman radio series for BBC Radio 5 in the 1990s. When the "Death of Superman" story arc happened in the comics, Maggs presented a very faithful, though much pared down version of the tale, which featured Stuart Milligan as Clark Kent/Superman, Lorelei King as Lois Lane, and William Hootkins as Lex Luthor. John Henry Irons was played by film actor Leon Hebert, who coincidentally appeared as a reporter in Tim Burton's first Batman movie. The story arc was packaged for sale on cassette and CD as Superman: Doomsday and Beyond in the UK and as Superman Lives! in the USA.

Video games
quote:

Steel is a main character in the side-scrolling beat 'em up video game, The Death and Return of Superman for the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis.

Steel appears in the 2002 video game The Man of Steel voiced by Billy Brown.

Steel appears in the MMORPG DC Universe Online voiced by Ken Thomas.

The trailer for the new upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins shows the bullet that Deadshot shot at Batman was labeled Amertek, referencing Amretek Industries which is the company John Henry Irons works for.

The New 52

In the rebooted continuity of The New 52, John Henry Irons first appears in Grant Morrison's Action Comics as a young scientist working on the government's "Steel Soldier" program. He retaliates after seeing the mistreatment of Superman by Lex Luthor (who was under the command of General Sam Lane to torture him). Irons immediately quits. When John Corben goes on a rampage after donning the government's "Metal 0" suit, John Henry aids Superman in fighting him off by using his own prototype armor for the first time, uploading a virus into the Metal 0 suit that he designed specifically to shut it down in the event of the user going rogue.

John Henry also shows up in Animal Man during the Rotworld crossover, where he assists Buddy Baker when the world has been overrun by The Rot, the elemental force of decay.

Notes
Steel was created by Louise Simonson and Jon Bogdanove, first appearing in Adventures of Superman #500. However, in the rebooted Prime Earth continuity his first appearance as part of the DC Universe is in Grant Morrison and Rags Morales' New 52 Action Comics series.

Catwoman (film)
 -
quote:
Catwoman is a 2004 American superhero film directed by Pitof Comar and stars Halle Berry, Sharon Stone, Benjamin Bratt, Lambert Wilson, Frances Conroy and Alex Borstein. The film is loosely based on the DC Comics character of the same name, who is traditionally an anti-heroine and love interest of the superhero Batman. The plot features a completely new character, Patience Phillips, taking the Catwoman name, and viewing the traditional Catwoman as a historical figure. The film was poorly received by critics and audiences and is commonly listed as one of the worst films ever made.
Catwoman (Halle Berry)
quote:

"...Sometimes I'm good. Ooh I'm very good. Sometimes I'm bad, but only as bad as I want to be."

Patience Phillips is a fictional character in the 2004 adaptation of Catwoman. Living by herself, Patience is a woman who works in the art department for a beauty product agency which produces beauty products such as a skin care cream. As Catwoman, Patience dresses in black leather - a bustier bra and pants with a cat mask, and gloves with claws. Catwoman uses her iconic whip in combat, but also shows her expert hand-to-hand combat and agility.

This version of Catwoman differs from the traditional forms of Catwoman. Instead of being portrayed as Selina Kyle, an expert gymnast and hand-to-hand combatant, she is portrayed as a woman with super-human abilities and actually acts like a Cat. More importantly, she is shown living in an unknown city (most likely New York) rather than the traditional and iconic Gotham City.

Here is a amazon at least equal to diana in power from pre- new52.
In fact she is more powerful in the pre-new52.
She has not shown up in the new-52 or not yet.
Nubia- A Black wonder woman

Nubia / Nu'Bia
 -

Nu'Bia from Wonder Woman (vol. 2) #154.

Notable aliases

Wonder Woman

Abilities

All the powers of Wonder Woman. Nu'Bia also possesses the ability to open dimensional portals and a paralyzing "Cold Sight".

Powers and abilities
Nubia possessed a magic sword created by Mars which was the only weapon on Earth that could counteract Diana's magic lasso. She could also glide on air currents like Wonder Woman and possessed super-strength as well as all other Amazon abilities.

Post-Crisis
Nu'Bia wears special magical armor with a raised embossed lion's head on its breastplate. Nu'Bia has been shown traveling back and forth to Hades at will, and from there to other mythological realms. Typically when she is about to appear at a new location the lion's head on her armor appears as part of the doorway, suggesting that the armor may be the source of this ability. In honor of an ancient pact, the Gorgons of the underworld blessed Nu'Bia with the Cold Sight, which allows her to turn anyone to stone. She carries an unspecified magic sword.

Nu'Bia has 3,000 years of combat experience providing her expertise in both hand to hand combat as well as with hand held weapons. As a Themyscirian Amazon she also possesses immortality that allows her to live indefinitely in a youthful form, but does leave her open to potential injury and death depending on her actions. She also possesses enhanced strength and intelligence. As shown by fellow members of her tribe, she has the capability to break apart steel and concrete with her bare hands, jump over 12 feet from a standing position, has a high durability factor, enhanced healing, and the ability to absorb and process a vast amount of knowledge in a short period of time.

Nu'Bia, in addition to the other Themyscirian Amazons, possesses the ability to relieve her body of physical injury and toxins by becoming one with the Earth's soil and then reforming her body whole again. The first time Diana does this she prays to her god Gaea saying: "Gaea, I pray to you. Grant me your strength. You are the Earth who suckled me, who nurtured and bred me. Through you all life is renewed. The circle which never ends. I pray you, mother Gaea, take me into your bosom. Please, let me be worthy." During writer John Byrne's time on the comic it was stated that this is a very sacred ritual to the Themyscirians, only to be used in the most dire of circumstances.

Amazons of Themyscira
 -

History

The Amazons of Themyscira are a race of immortal warrior women that live on the mystically hidden island of Themyscira. They were created by a coterie of Olympian gods over three thousand years ago to serve as their messengers to the world in the name of peace and justice. The youngest and most powerful of the Amazons, Princess Diana, left her protective nation of sisterhood, renouncing her immortality to fight the forces of evil in Man's World as Wonder Woman!

Amazons (DC Comics)

Origin
The Amazons of Paradise Island were first created by William Moulton Marston as part of the origin story of his creation, Wonder Woman. These Amazons were a race of immortal super-women that lived on the magical Paradise Island. Favored by Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, the Amazons thrived in peace for centuries, but remained aloof from the world of Man. The youngest and most powerful of the Amazons, Princess Diana, left her protective nation of sisterhood, renouncing her immortality to fight the forces of evil in Man's World as Wonder Woman.

Superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, stamina, durability, superior hand-to-hand and weapons combat skills

The New 52
Following the revamp of the DC Universe's history at the end of Flashpoint, the history of the Amazons was again revised. Themyscira is now called Paradise Island as it was before the Crisis on Infinite Earths. Hippolyta has blond hair and is the biological mother of Diana, whose biological father is Zeus. Hippolyta invented the "molding Diana from clay" story in order to protect her from the wrath of Zeus's wife Hera.

The Amazons' Gifts
The people of Paradise Island are by all accounts ageless, appearing as adult women in their prime, despite being over three thousand years old.

Universally they are skilled in all forms of armed and unarmed combat that was present in the Hellenistic World. Their long lives spent in training for combat having honed their skills in these styles to near supernatural levels, such as piercing the throat of a jet pilot with a bow and arrow.

As a boon from the gods, all amazons posses superhuman strength and durability, though they all vulnerable to piercing attacks. Such as Artemis once easily overpowering Batman, but was sedated with a tranquilizer.

Despite their conservative society and preferred way of living, the Amazons are a technologically advanced people having created such items as the Purple Healing Ray and its opposite the Purple Death Ray and in some incarnations been responsible for creating the Invisible Plane Wonder Woman pilots. In the latest incarnation however the plane was originally an alien device given to Diana, since then replaced with a plane from Wayne Enterprise with the same abilities.

Amazon powers and abilities
All Themyscirian Amazons possess various degrees of superhuman strength, speed, stamina and extraordinarily acute senses which were gifts blessed to them by their gods. As shown by various tribe members, they have the capability to break apart steel and concrete with their bare hands, jump over 12 feet from a standing position, have a high durability factor, enhanced healing, and the ability to absorb and process a vast amount of knowledge in a short period of time. Themyscirian Amazons also possesses immortality that allows them to live indefinitely in a youthful form, but does leave them open to potential injury and death depending on their actions. They also have developed high levels of hand-to-hand combat training, mastered over 3,000 years, and are experts in the use of various hand held weapons.

Themyscirian Amazons also possess the ability to relieve their bodies of physical injury and toxins by becoming one with the Earth's soil and then reforming their bodies whole again. The first time Diana does this she prays to her god Gaea saying: "Gaea, I pray to you. Grant me your strength. You are the Earth who suckled me, who nurtured and bred me. Nubia
 -
An Amazon warrior who was charged by the Greek Gods with defending the entrance to the river Styx and the Tartarus Gate. Sometime during her time in the underworld, Nu'bia met the Zoroastrian god of light, Ahura Mazda, and became his lover. Nu'bia sided with Wonder Woman.

History
Nubia was Wonder Woman's "black sister", created from black clay, just as Diana was created from white clay. Both were brought to life by Aphrodite, but Nubia was stolen by Ares/Mars (the Greek and Roman names were interchangeable, and more often than not, the Roman names were used. Mars was one of the gods whose Roman name was used.), so Nubia did not get the powers that was given to Diana.

Mars raised Nubia to be his warrior, giving her a special ring to keep her mind clouded. Years later, Diana met Nubia, who became her roommate. After several battles, Wonder Woman was able to release Nubia from Mars' control, when she used the heat of the sun, reflected off her bracelets, to cause the ring to expand and fall off. Nubia defied Mars, and optioned to lead her warriors to the ways of peace. It was then that Queen Hippolyte revealed the truth: Nubia was Diana's sister!

Nubia is also seen in a few issues of Superfriends, in which she is wearing a costume inspired by Wonder Woman:

A gold disc with a red feather in the top center.

A blue, strapless, legless bodysuit with yellow ovals over the breasts.

A pair of white gauntlets, over which are a pair of Amazon bracelets.

Tall, yellow boots, with the top edges folded down.

 -
Nubia costume inspired by Wonder Woman

Other Versions
Earth-23
In the last issue of Final Crisis, a new Nubia appears as the Wonder Woman of Earth-23 and has regular dealing with the Superman of her Earth.

She differs from the New Earth Diana in that she seems to be based on (the equivalent of on her Earth) and has complete access to its technology and mystical devices, suggesting her position may be more akin to Queen Hippplyta rather than Diana.

Nubia's Wonder Woman armor is different from that of the New Earth Diana in that has actual body plates covering her abdomen area showing stomach muscles in grey plate.

The specific background of has yet to be fully revealed at this time.

Pre-Crisis
Nubia possessed a magic sword created by Mars/Ares which was the only weapon on Earth that could counteract Diana's magic lasso.

Typically when she is about to appear at a new location the lion's head on her armor appears as part of the doorway, suggesting that the armor might be the source of this ability. In honor of an ancient pact, the Gorgons of the underworld blessed Nu'Bia with the Cold Sight, which allows her to turn anyone to stone. She carries an unspecified magic sword. She possesses super-human strength and all other abilities equal to that of a standard Themyscirian Amazon and has millennia of experience in fighting and killing demons.

Powers and abilities
Nubia's Powers are thought to be just like her sister Diana since they both were made the same way.

Superhuman Strength: She has the ability to lifted far in excess of 100 tons.

Superhuman Durability: Nubia possesses a high resistance to damage and magical attacks. Like Wonder Woman Nubia is extremely resistant to blunt force attacks.

Flight: Nubia is capable of unassisted flight through magical means.

Superhuman Reflexes: Nubia was easily able to keep up with Wonder Woman in a Hand-to-Hand battle and she possesses reflex abilities similar to speedsters, such as the Flash. Batman noted that Wonder Woman's reflexes are superior to that of even Superman himself.

Superhuman Speed: Since Nubia has superhuman-reflexes her speed should be on the same level as Wonder Woman's.

Superhuman Agility: Nubia's agility is far beyond that of even an olympic level athlete.

Superhuman Stamina: Nubia can last a great deal of time in any fight and with virtually anyone. She has held her own in combat with foes as powerful as a Wonder Woman.

Healing: Nubia can heal at superhuman levels.

Superhuman Senses: All five of Nubia senses can be used at an superhuman degree.

Hand-to-Hand Combat: Nubia is a trained warrior and can fight with the best of the best.

Weaknesses

Nubia is somewhat vulnerable to piercing weapons, such as projectiles.

Monica Rambeau
 -

After being exposed to extra-dimensional energy, Lt. Monica Rambeau gained the ability to manipulate various energies of the electromagnetic spectrum. She has gone by many code-names over the years whilst utilizing these abilities as a crime fighter. Monica has served alongside the Avengers in various incarnations and operated as their leader for a time.

Origin
Monica Rambeau was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She enlisted into her local police department and quickly rose through the ranks, positioning herself as lieutenant of its Harbor division. While off-duty, she helped a scientist track down an international dictator, who wanted to use a powerful energy machine to take over the United States. After thwarting his plans, she attempted to destroy the machine and was bombarded by extra-dimensional energy. As a result, she gained the ability to turn into any form of energy along the electromagnetic spectrum and discharge it.

Luke Cage
 -

Luke Cage, wrongly convicted and unjustly imprisoned, was altered in a failed prison experiment that granted him bulletproof skin and superhuman strength. With his street smarts, and unending determination to do right, he fights for the common man!

Character Evolution
Luke Cage was one of the first African American super heroes in mainstream comics among the likes of the Falcon and the African hero, the Black Panther. However, his creation was criticized by some for promoting racial stereotypes, as he was initially involved in gang crime. The character's public perception has began to change as times progress and has even, grown in popularity. But some criticism remains.

Infinity
During the events of Infinity, the Avengers left earth to confront and prevent the Builders from destroying all life in the galaxy. While the Avengers were off-planet, the mad titan Thanos decided to invade Earth. Prior to Thanos' invasion, Luke decided to get back into the Heroes for Hire business. He offered internships to Avengers Academy graduates, Ava Ayala and Victor Alvarez.

After preventing Parnival Plunder from stealing robot parts, Luke and his interns have a run-in with the "Superior" Spider-Man. This "superior" Spider-Man is really Doctor Octopus with his mind implanted into Peter Parker's body (readers commonly refer to him as "SpOck"). During the encounter, SpOck labeled Luke and his interns "hired thugs", which led to an argument with Victor Alvarez. The argument was interrupted by Ava, who agreed with SpOck and decided to resign from the internship, stating that as heroes, they all should be doing more.

Luke respected her decision and allowed her to leave. He then attempted to calm Victor down, who was still fuming from SpOck's comments, by treating him to coffee. Luke agreed with Victor that SpOck's comments were inappropriate. He also agreed with Ava's comments about "doing more." He told Victor about his retirement from the Avengers (to take care of his daughter) and how since doing so, he hasn't done much to make the world a better place for her to grow up in. Victor misinterpreted this as Luke saying he no longer wants to be in the Hero for Hire business and stormed out of the restaurant.

Later, the streets of Manhattan are flooded with demons led by Thanos' general Proxima Midnight. Luke immediately began to combat the demons alongside several other heroes who were in Manhattan at the time. SpOck, Monica Rambeau and "Spider Hero" (Blade), all joined Luke to fend off the demons. Luke also combats Proxima for a while and at one point, gained the upper hand, but was ultimately put down by the powerful general. During the battle, his resilience and determination to win angered Proxima, and when she was unable to kill him (due to his unbreakable skin) Thanos ordered her to return to base. Another one of Thanos' generals, Ebony Maw, joined the fight and used his special abilities to manipulate an infected Dr. Strange into summoning Shuma-Gorath! However, the multidimensional demon was not at its full strength. When the Blue Marvel, Victor, and Ava later arrived in Manhattan to help clear up the remaining demons, they joined Monica Rambeau and combined their abilities to send Gorath back to it's own dimension. During the battle, Victor dubbed them the "Mighty Avengers."

Cage possesses superhuman strength which allows him to lift up to 25 tons.He has considerable stamina which allows him to perform strenuous work without taxing himself for extended periods of time. Most notably, Cage possesses nigh impenetrable skin, which protects him from high caliber bullets, knife wounds, and powerful explosions. His durability has greatly superseded some super humans.

However, Luke's durability does not extend beyond his skin layer, as his internal body parts are not nearly as well protected. Thus, as he may be all but invulnerable externally, his interiors can still be damaged if he is attacked with enough force.

 -
Luke's infamous bulletproof skin is his greatest asset.

Abilities
Luke Cage is a skilled brawler and street fighter. He also possesses formidable leadership qualities.

Powers and Abilities
Due to his mother being bitten by a vampire while pregnant with him, Blade displays unique abilities as a Dhampir. It has been shown, several times, that he is immune to vampire venom and cannot become an actual vampire by normal means. He has all of their abilities and none of their weaknesses. Blade does posses a trait common to all vampires: the thirst for blood.

However, rather than consuming blood, he injects a specially designed serum that provides the same nourishment. As a Dhampir, Blade possesses superhuman strength and senses. He is capable of seeing objects with perfect clarity and at a much greater distance than a human or vampire. Blade's hearing is similarly enhanced, allowing him to detect sounds that humans and vampires can not. Dissimilar to vampires, he is immune to sunlight. Blade also possesses a number of other powers and abilities due to training and his vampire-like physiology.

Pseudo-Immortality: Blade possesses a form of immortality. Due to his vampire-like abilities he ages slower than an average human, which has allowed him to have a prolonged lifespan.

Invulnerability: Due to his vampire-like physiology, Blade is resistant to the hypnotic gaze of vampires (known as mesmerism) and highly resistant to other psychic and physical attacks.

Healing Factor: Similar to Wolverine, Blade has a healing factor that allows him to recover from injuries at alarming rates. His immune system attacks alien substances (chemicals/viruses) and eliminates any chance of him being rendered helpless or maimed from toxicity or infection. The full extent of Blade's regenerative abilities are unknown, but after being bitten by Morbius, he is able to regenerate missing/damaged limbs, tissue, organs, and muscles.

Danger Sense: Blade has a very rare ability to sense supernatural phenomenon (which vampires do not seem to possess). This has helped him many times at identifying demons, even if they have taken possession of a human being (this is noticeable when a demon possessed a man, Blade sensed the demonic essence coming from him). Blade can sense nearing danger, allowing him to quickly react to incoming threats

Superhuman Agility: Blade's agility, balance and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of a human being. His agility is also greater then that possessed by most vampires.

Hypnosis: Blade has displayed the ability to hypnotize his opponents. He can directly influence the minds of others. He's showcased this ability when he caused Tyrone Cash to revert to from his Hulk-like level, to his human form.

Master Martial Artist: Blade is Master Martial Artist, proficient in practically every known weaponry and martial art known to man. Blade can easily hold his own against multiple enemies, and can adapt to any fighting style (unarmed or armed).

Espionage: Due to being a vampire-like being, Blade can not be captured on film, camera, or be seen in a mirror. His superhuman agility and advanced speed allows him to infiltrate compounds almost undetected.

Intellect: Blade has shown that he has vast knowledge pertaining to supernatural phenomenon, gained by his experiences and decades of living. He has an understanding of the supernatural realm. He no longer thinks of himself as just a vampire slayer, but a demonic reaper. He will do anything necessary to protect what he believes in.

Superhuman Strength: Although the amount he can lift is not specified, he has overpowered a vampiric Spider-Man, jumped hundreds of feet into the air and ripped the head off of another vampire with his bare hands.

T'Challa is the Black Panther, warrior king of Wakanda, one of the most technologically advanced nations on Earth. He is among the top intellects of the world, a veteran Avenger, and a member of the Illuminati. Using his powers and abilities, he has pledged his fortune, powers, and life to the service of all mankind.

Origin
Long ago, a huge meteorite made of a rare mineral now known as vibranium, crashed landed in Wakanda. The first king of Wakanda, Black Panther Bashenga, harnessed the mineral and used it to nurture his nation. Thousands of years later, under the ruling of Black Panther T‘Chaka, Wakanda's level of technological and economic achievements continued to excel far beyond those of the traditional world.

T'Chaka concealed Wakanda from the rest of world to prevent it from being manipulated by outsiders. His first wife, N'Yami, died while in labor with Prince T’Challa. Years later, a Dutch scientist named Ulysses Klaw found a way into Wakanda, created a vibranium sound-based weapon, and used it to kill King T’Chaka. Prince T’Challa, only a child at the time, managed to turn the sound weapon on Klaw, destroying his right hand. Klaw fled the country, exposed Wakanda to the outside world, and vowed revenge.

Prince T'Challa would later become king after defeating his uncle, King S'yan, in a once-a-year ritual that allowed anyone of Wakandan royalty to become king/queen by defeating the current ruler in hand-to-hand combat. Given the fact that the ruling Black Panther possessed enhanced and superhuman abilities from digesting the Wakandan Heart-shaped Herb, the chance of an average man defeating a Black Panther was slim. However, T’Challa succeeded. He digested the Heart-shaped Herb, which gave him superhuman senses and provided him with enhanced agility, strength, and over all physical capability.

 -
All monarchs of Wakanda are known as "Black Panther."

Creation
The Black Panther was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. His first comic appearance was in Fantastic Four #52 in 1966. The Black Panther is among the first mainstream black superheroes. He is comics first mainstream African hero, with Falcon being comics first African American hero.

Character Evolution
Created in 1966 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the Black Panther, has traditionally been the warrior king of the hyper technologically advanced African nation, Wakanda. Using his superhuman senses of sight, smell, and hearing combined with his enhanced panther-like reflexes, he divided his time as a king and crime fighter. During the characters first debut, Stan Lee scribes the African hero defeating the American superhero team, the Fantastic Four.

Several years later, in 1968, Roy Thomas scribes the character's first appearance as an Avenger. In 1972, after the first four issues, the Black Panther becomes the titular character of Don McGregor's Jungle Action. McGregor's "Panther's Rage" is one of the most critically acclaimed stories of the Black Panther mythos. The co-creator of the Black Panther, Jack Kirby, would later go on to illustrate and scribe the hero's solo series in 1977.

In 1998, Christopher Priest began writing the Black Panther's following series. Priest modernized the character by building and expanding upon the Black Panther mythos mapped out by Lee and McGregor. In Priest's retcons of Wakanda, he established Bastet (the ancient Egyptian God) as the panther god that the Wakandans built their religious cult of the Black Panther around. Prior to this retcon, the Wakandan panther god did not have a name/origin. Priest's interpretation of the Black Panther is widely praised.

In 2005, TV/movie scribe Reginald Hudlin began writing the Black Panther. Hudlin's tenure retconned a lot of what was previously established about the character, as he rebooted the heroes adventures. However, major establishments, like T'Challa being a warrior king, all stayed true to the classic tales of the Black Panther. Hudlin's tenure on the Black Panther is the most commercially successful series of the Black Panther franchise. He also created Shuri, T'Challa's younger sister, who he would later scribe becoming the new Black Panther in 2009.

Powers
Upon becoming chief of the Panther Clan and king of Wakanda, T'Challa was entitled to eat the ceremonial Wakandan Heart-shaped Herb, which provided him with enhanced strength, endurance, and reflexes. The herb can only be digested by Wakandan Royalty, and acts as a poison to those not of the royal bloodline. The Heart-shaped Herb also heightened T'Challa's senses to superhuman levels. Later blessings from the Panther Goddess elevated his enhanced strength, endurance, and reflexes to superhuman levels.

Black Panther Knowledge: He now has the power to draw all the knowledge, strength, and every experience from every previous Black Panther.

Superhuman Agility: T'Challa's agility, balance, and bodily coordination were heightened to the pinnacle of human development upon digesting a special herb. His reaction time is far superior to most opponents and any Olympic level gymnast that has ever competed, which allows him to evade attacks from potential enemies.

Superhuman Senses: The Heart-shaped Herb elevated T'Challa's sense of sight, hearing, and smell. His superhuman senses enables him to see within complete darkness and hear sounds that ordinary humans can not. T'Challa has memorized thousands of scents and is proficient in tracking them. His sense of smell is powerful enough to allow him to smell fear and detect if someone is lying, by sensing a change in their body odor.

Superhuman Strength: The Heart-shaped Herb enhanced T'Challa's physical strength to the pinnacle of human perfection, which allowed him to lift upward to 800 lbs. Black Panther has demonstrated exceptional feats of strength like wrestling down a Rhino and breaking its neck, knocking out a Polar Bear, stopping a Elephant's charge, sending Namor flying with a kick despite his opponent's superhuman durability, destroying a water mill by bracing himself on the ground and flexing his muscles, even killing a T-Rex dinosaur while using a palm tree as a catapult while in a weakened state. The extent of T'Challa's strength is unknown.

Superhuman Stamina/Endurance: Years of conditioning and training, combined with the effects of the Heart Shaped Herb, allows T'Challa to exert his body to higher degrees of stress. He can endure more physical stress than average humans, and. can tolerate large amounts of physical pain.

Superhuman Durability: T'Challa's ability to endure and resist damage is exceptionally high for a human. His body can withstand powerful crushing blows and puncture wounds. The effects of the Heart Shaped Herb, combined with a vibranium-laced suit, allows T'Challa to heal at an accelerated rate far superior to the average man. He also possesses a nigh-invulnerability to various diseases, poisons, virus/bacteria, etc.

Healing Factor: Due to a Heart shaped Herb, T'challa's natural healing is at its peak.

Superhuman Speed: T'Challa can run/move faster then normal humans and any Olympic Athlete. His top speed is unknown.

King of the Dead: As of late, T'Challa has relinquished his title as Wakanda Monarch to his sister, and has since then become the overseer of Wakanda's "City of the Dead" (The Necropolis). Upon becoming the "King of the Dead", the Panther Goddess granted T'Challa a blessing that elevated his power levels. The blessing also gave T'Challa the ability to access the knowledge and experiences possessed by previous Wakandan kings/queens.

Abilities
Genius-level Intellect: T'Challa is a master tactician, physicist, and engineer. He has been groomed in battle tactics since his youth by his father, who encouraged him to always think two steps ahead of his enemies and three steps ahead of his friends. His exceptional tactical prowess has enabled him to out maneuver individuals such as Reed Richards, Tony Stark, and Dr. Doom. T'Challa's knowledge of physic and engineering ranks him among the top eight intellects of the world. He has proven to be able to invent weaponry that rivals his peers engineering capabilities such as: Kimoyo, the Quinjet, and most notably "Shadow Physics," which combines alchemy and science. T'Challa (along with Reed Richards) was able to reverse engineer (and recreate) multiple inter-dimensional bombs capable of destroying entire planets.

Master Combatant: T'Challa has been groomed to be a warrior since birth. He is a master in practically all forms of armed and unarmed combat, having mastered various styles of martial art from around the world. He is a formidably skilled swordsman and often wields daggers, spears, and has even wielded the Ebony Blade. T'Challa is widely considered to be one of top martial artists in the world. He has stalemated, and at times even gained the upper hand, against various highly skilled martial artist such as: Iron Fist, Captain America, Daredevil etc. in combat. in hand to hand fights to an extent that in his full potential, he was able to defeat Captain America in a few moves, and overpower Wolverine twice without much difficulty, even when Wolverine was using his claws. Captain America himself said that when he won against T’Challa, T’Challa was not his usual self, seeming weaker than he actually was.

Weapons Master: T'Challa has mastered all known weapons.

Master Acrobat: T'Challa is a rigorously trained gymnast and acrobat.

Expert Marksman: T'Challa is a master marksman adept with hunting knives, firearms, and other projectile weaponry.

Master Tactician: T'Challa is a genius tactician, strategist, and leader who is practically peerless. He was taught tactics and strategies in his youth by his father who encouraged him to always think two steps ahead of his enemies and three steps ahead of his friends. His prowess is such that he is able to out think and out maneuver individuals such as Tony Stark, and other genius.

Expert Tracker & Hunter: Even without his superhuman senses, he is a master tracker and hunter. He can pick up a prey's scent and memorize tens of thousands of individual ones.

Multilingual: T'Challa can fluently speak his native language, English, and other various languages.

Master Inventor: T'Challa can invent various devices with special properties when needed. While not all of his inventions are as good as others made by Tony Stark and so on, he possesses engineering abilities and intellect that makes him a peer and has proven to be able to invent and create weaponry that rivals their engineering capabilities. T'Challa can also duplicate practically any other technologies after learning how they work or by glancing at the designs.

Highly Influential Connections: As king of Wakanda, the T'Challa has access to a vast collection of magical artifacts, technological and military hardware, as well as the support of his nation's wide array of scientists, adventurers, and superheroes.

Diplomatic Immunity: As the leader of a sovereign nation, T'Challa often visits the United States or the United Nations for political reasons. He enjoys diplomatic immunity during these trips, and his embassy is considered foreign soil.

Rich: T'Challa is Wakandan Royalty, thus he has access to a vast amount of wealth.

Weapons and Equipment
As royalty of a technological advance nation, T'Challa has access to some of the most advance technologies in the world. As a proud warrior, he primarily relies on his keen intellect and combat prowess, but will often use a few key gadgets.

Vibranium Microweave Mesh: The microweave robs incoming objects of their momentum; bullets do not ricochet off, but simply fall to the ground when they come in contact with the weave. Likewise, the Panther cannot be stabbed, however, the costume (and Panther) can be cut if the attacker slashes along the uniform's grain. Combined with his durability, it has even withstood blows from the Hulk.

Anti-Metal Claws: Retractable Golden Vibranium Claws that allow its wielder to cut through various metals by breaking it down on a molecular level.

Energy Daggers: Energy constructed blades. The wielder has the ability to gauge between power levels, releasing a beam, powerful enough to slice through various structures and foe. This weapon can also be fired as a projectile. Energy daggers are T'Challa's default weapon of choice in armed combat situations.

Boots: Vibranium-based boots that allow T'Challa to scale great heights with little effort. This combined with his enhanced panther-like reflexes allows T'Challa to leap and land from great heights without sustaining injury. Using his Vibranium Boots, he can sometimes skim through water and cling to walls.

Projectiles: T'Challa possess non-lethal (gelatin/rubber) and lethal projectiles that are usually fired from his gauntlets. However, they are sometimes depicted firing from his claws or Energy Daggers.

Ebony Blade: T'Challa possess the Ebony Blade of The Black Knight, which he uses for combat purposes.

Other weapons: Swords, spears, shields, knives, clubs, quivers and arrows. A large variety of firearms and other weapons used for close range, as well as technological weapons and devices such as a large 'power glove.'

Energy Shield: Wakandan tech that creates a shield constructed of energy.

Cloaking Technology: The cloak can be elongated, shortened or eliminated with a thought, and the entire costume can be covered allowing it to pass as normal street clothes or render T'challa completely invisible.

Kimoyo Card: An extremely powerful portable supercomputer/PDA invented by T'Challa. It has the ability to access/hack technological interfaces via Wakandan satellites. It functions similarly to the Avengers' communicards, but with many more practical applications. In one instance, the Panther called up a schematic of a jumbo jet's cockpit controls and took command of the plane, landing the plane safely in a river. "Kimoyo" is Bantu for "of the spirit".

Telepoter: Wakandan tech, seemly built into T'Challa's gauntlets, that allows him to instantly transport small distances.

Panther Habit (Vibranium Suit)
As chieftain of the Wakandan Panther Clan, the ruler is crowned with a ceremonial regalia in the form of a vibranium laced panther habit. T'Challa received this crown-like garb after being judged by the Panther Goddess. This uniform has the ability to absorb vibrations via its vibranium lacing. It also has the ability to negate and/or lessen powerful kinetic based attacks such as bullets shots, penetrating blades, and crushing blows. The lenses in the mask cut glare and enhance the Panther's natural night vision. It also allows him to see in infra-red and other visual spectrum. The suit features cloaking technology.

T'Challa possess specialized Thrice-blessed Armor and Light Armor for specific tasks.

The Thrice-blesses armor functions the same way as Iron Man's armor, and is also enhanced with Magic abilities.

The Light Armor functions in the same way as Iron Man's armor.

Shuri
 -

Shuri is the younger sister of T'Challa and most recently, a queen. As such, she is the ruler of Wakanda, an African nation known to be one of the most technologically advanced civilizations on Earth.

Origin

Shuri is T'Chaka's youngest child, only daughter, and the only biological child of his second wife, Ramonda (Queen Mother). She is the half-sister of T'Challa and the heir to the Wakandan throne. She has dedicated and trained all her life to becoming the Black Panther.

Upon her father's death, her uncle (S'yan), became Black Panther because she, nor T'Challa, was of age to do so. As the years progressed, she swore to become Panther and attempted to enter into the once-a-year Wakandan ritual that allowed anyone of the royal bloodline to become Panther by defeating the ruling Black Panther in hand to hand combat.

The day of ritual, she was forbidden to enter by her. She rebelled against her mother's wishes and managed to sneak into ritual, but by the time she was able to make her way to the ring, a masked fighter had already defeated S'yan. When the victor removed his mask, it was revealed to be none other than her older brother, T'Challa.

When a dutch scientist (Klaw) and his mercenaries attacked Wakanda, Shuri managed to kill the mercenary Igor Stancheck (Radioactive Man). She took her first kill hard, but was comforted by T'Challa's promise to personally train her. He prepared her for the role of Black Panther, in case there were ever a day to which she would be needed to lead Wakanda. It would be years before she would actually get the chance to, but when the opportunity came, she was prepared.

The herb also heightened her formidable strength, speed, agility, and endurance to the peak of human possibility.Upon becoming Queen of Wakanda, she earned the crown title of Black Panther and now shares a spiritual connection with the Panther God (Bast).

Abilities
Shuri is a rigorously trained acrobatic and martial artist, having been trained by T'Challa and Aneka (Dora Milaje sensei). She is well versed in the use of Wakanda's vastly advanced weaponry and technology. Despite being a skilled martial artist, she often prefers armed combatant, using a wide plethora of tactical gadgets, spears, and swords instead of hand to hand combat. Shuri is also a skilled tactician and war strategist.

Weapons and Equipment
Dissimilar to her brother, Shuri appears to prefer more technological based weaponry and combat. She uses an assortment of Wakandan made technologies. A few of them are recurring weapons/gadgets.

Gadgets
Truncheon: a collapsible baton/nightstick capable of administrating an electric shock to stun foe.
Shock Nets: electric based netting used to stun and capture foe.
Snake Bites: pellets used to immobilize foe by releasing knockout gas upon impact.
Desert Sand: microscopic sand-like devices that release an EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse). They are used to defunct electronics.
Claws: Shuri's claws were explained to be made of vibranium shells encased by adamantium.
Spear(s): standard Wakandan made spears. A Wakandan spear is Shuri's default weapon of choice in armed combat situations. She appears to now wield Zuri's Spear of Bashenga, which belonged to the the founder, and first king, of Wakanda.

Panther Habit (Vibranium Suit)
Shuri's panther garb functions similar to her brother's. Upon becoming chief of the Wakandan Panther Clan, she was crowned with regalia in the form of a vibranium laced panther uniform. It has the ability to negate and/or lessen powerful kinetic based attacks such as: bullets shots, penetrating blades, and crushing blows. Dissimilar to T'Challa, Shuri's standard panther suit appears to be more tech savvy.

Kevin Feige Says Marvel has No Firm Plans for a Female Superhero Movie

Published 1 month ago by H. Shaw-Williams , Updated March 18th, 2014 at 5:36 pm,

 -

While the Marvel movies so far have boasted some diversity among their supporting casts, the standalone titles in the franchise have so far stuck to white male protagonists: Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Thor and – coming next year – Hank Pym and Scott Lang in Ant-Man. Marvel’s planned Doctor Strange movie would also introduce another white male superhero (barring any gender- or race-bending casting choices) to the roster, but there are still no standalone superhero movies that break that mold in sight.

It’s somewhat surprising for a studio that’s known for taking bold risks; this summer’s release of Guardians of the Galaxy, for example, will feature a team-up that includes a talking alien raccoon and an anthropomorphic tree. It’s notable, however, that the Guardians’ only white male team member, Star Lord, heavily dominated the movie’s first trailer.

Speaking at a press junket for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Marvel’s President of Production Kevin Feige was quizzed by Badass Digest on the lack of diversity in the studio’s past and announced standalone titles. Feige recently responded to questions about a standalone Black Widow movie by saying that Marvel has “various outlines and ideas” for such a thing.

However, in his response to a related question posed by Badass Digest, he seems a lot more cautious about the idea:

quote:

“I think [Black Widow] has a central leading role in [Captain America: The Winter Soldier]. What people are really saying is “When are you doing a standalone female superhero movie?” The answer is: I don’t know. We only do two a year, we know more or less what’s coming up through ‘16/’17. With Widow what’s great is the interaction with all the team members, and the question is whether we want to pluck her out of that.

“I’m very proud of the way the Marvel movies handle the female characters who are in all the movies we are making, as opposed to feeling the pressure of ‘When are you doing a female movie?’ We’re exploring a lot of Widow, and that’s going to continue with Age of Ultron in a big way.

“Frankly if we do a Black Widow movie after Age of Ultron, when she’s been central in three or four movies I don’t think we’d get the quote unquote credit for it. People would say ‘She’s already a big giant superhero!’ But if we had a great idea, we’d do it.”

To Marvel’s credit, the studio has offered some decent roles for women and non-white characters, even braving the wrath of comic book fans by casting Idris Elba as Heimdall. Based on trailers and early reactions, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is really more of a team-up movie along the lines of The Avengers rather than a straightforward standalone title about Steve Rogers. As with Guardians of the Galaxy, however, Marvel is still able to sell the movie on the central presence of a white male superhero.

http://cdn.screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Poster-Art-570x294.jpg

It’s understandable that a studio like Marvel, which makes fairly risky properties using pretty massive budgets, might have developed a need for each movie to have at least one white male superhero playing a core role. It offers the opportunity to include great African-American characters like Nick Fury and Sam Wilson, along with strong and capable female characters like Jane Foster and Natasha Romanoff, without the kind of risk that would be involved in marketing a standalone Black Panther or Captain Marvel movie. In an interview with NPR, Orange is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan described this as a kind of “Trojan Horse” approach.

quote:

“Piper was my Trojan Horse. You’re not going to go into a network and sell a show on really fascinating tales of black women, and Latina women, and old women and criminals. But if you take this white girl, this sort of fish out of water, and you follow her in, you can then expand your world and tell all of those other stories.”

For now, Feige’s answer to the question of when and if Marvel is going to make a standalone superhero movie with a female protagonist remains a firm, “I don’t know.” When asked whether Captain Marvel – or indeed the new Ms. Marvel, a Pakistani-American teenager called Kamala Khan – could eventually get her own movie, Feige responded with a vague (but promising?), “We’ve talked a lot about [Captain Marvel]. I think that would be very cool.” He also said that he liked the idea of creating an entirely new female superhero for the Marvel movie universe, and writing an origin story for her.

Tell us what you think of this debate in the comments – should Marvel try making a standalone movie with a non-white/non-male protagonist, or is it enough to have diversity in the supporting cast?

Hancock

 -

A former amnesiac drunk with super powers. Hancock was a selfish hero until he was convinced to change his ways.

The man known as John Hancock was gifted with superpowers but lacked morals. Spending most of his time drinking, Hancock would use his powers on occasion to save others. The majority of the time the results were catastrophic. Hancock had no regard for collateral damage. His rescue attempts would leave the city of Los Angeles with millions of dollars worth of damage.

Hancock's life began to change when he saved a public relations spokesman named Ray Embrey. Ray's goal was to get corporates to sponsor his charitable "All-Hearts" organization. Seeing potential in Hancock, he decided to try to help him clean up his image.

It turned out that Hancock was actually some type of eternal god that had lived for over 3000 years. He is from a race that humans at times would call 'Angels'. They were made in pairs and when ever the pair would get near each other, they would lose their powers and become mortal.

Doctor Mist
 -

Doctor Mist gained immortality by standing in the rolling pillar of life, which also gave him incredible powers. He is also leader of the Global Guardians. In the New 52, Doctor Mist is part of the magic division of A.R.G.U.S., but he betrays them in exchange for the Books of Magic.

Origin
Over 11,000 years ago, Nommo, the wizard-king of the African nation Kor, stood in the rolling pillar of life which gave him incredible power and immortality. He would later take the name Dr. Mist. He founded the ancient empire of Kor, with its 100 cities. Eventually Mist decided to abdicate and went to live in the mountain carved in his likeness on the East coast of Africa, where he remained. Having misused his powers at some stage in the past, Doctor Mist prefered to use it sparingly. In 1957, the European Economic Community established the Dome, a super-national police organization. Dr Mist founded the Global Guardians and Headquartered them in the Dome. The Global Guardians would work together for decades until they lost their funding to Justice League International and the Dome was closed. Queen Bee would rebuid the Dome in her country and brainwash the Global Guardians to work for her being led by an android Dr. Mist. Dr. Mist would appear and help Jack O' Lantern and Owl Woman escape Bialya. Doctor Mist would recruit a group to break the Global Guardians from their brainwashing and lead them to escape. He would later reform the Global Guardians and rebuild the Dome somewhere in the Pacific.

Mist was slain by an ancient force, although eternal, later showed up alive and well after the Zero Hour crisis. Calling himself Maltis, he formed a new group called the Leymen, later called Primal Force. The team was short lived and his stay was even less, having a heart attack shortly after their first mission. He was seemingly killed by being thrown into a pool of acid by Modrus. This may not be the final time we see Dr. Mist, who has been an immortal for over 11,000 years.

New 52

He shows the team where the source of Faust is hidden, once he is freed. Doctor Mist realizes it is the first Tesseract, The Eight Dimensional Map. It is the map to the Books of Magic. Doctor Mist betrays the team and sides with Faust and Nick Necro who have promised to bring his wife back from the dead. The Justice League Dark defeat Doctor Mist and his new allies with the help of newly recruited Frankenstein, Amethyst, and Bennett. If they're going to do another comic-book movie, Black Panther and his native Wakanda would interest me far more than most of what we've gotten so far.

Superman/val zod with powergirl.

 -

quote:

Power Girl (real name Kara Zor-L, also known as Karen Starr) is a DC Comics superheroine, making her first appearance in All Star Comics #58 (January/February 1976).

Power Girl is the Earth-Two counterpart of Supergirl and the first cousin of Kal-L, Superman of the pre-Crisis Earth-Two. The infant Power Girl's parents enabled her to escape the destruction of Krypton-Two. Although she left the planet at the same time that Superman did, her ship took much longer to reach Earth-Two.

It has been revealed that Power Girl will be returning to her source Earth in the upcoming "Earth-2 World's End" weekly mini-series. and teaming up with the new Earth-2 Superman Val-Zod.

Some recent updates for blue marvel and icon powers.

Blue marvel
quote:

Superhuman Speed: Blue Marvel is capable of thinking, moving, and reacting vastly faster than any normal human being. He's fast enough to keep up with Sentry, meaning that his speed during inter-stellar travels is several times in excess of the speed of light, and has an ability to enter hyperspace. His top speed remains unknown.

Flight: Blue Marvel flies by manipulation of gravitons, manipulation of magnetic fields, control of his absolute molecular movement, and utilizing his superhuman speed. Although his top flight speed remains unknown, he can fly far beyond supersonic speeds, reach speeds of at least escape velocity (7 miles per second), and has been seen flying into space unaided under his own power. Blue marvel is capable of flying many times the speed of light, however his top flight speed is unknown.

Icon
quote:

Superhuman Speed: Icon's top speed is unknown, but he's shown to have comparable speed to Flash and Superman.

I think there is more recent editing/or updates inside the links, but open links below to find out.
