There was an ancient radiation of a large bodied ape around 20mya with Gorilla Chimp and LCAs splitting from the more ancient orang. What did that LCA look like? Similar to Siva/Ramipithecus. The Apiths are derived from this
They key differentiation here is the locus of this radiation of the great ape LCA. Was it Asia or Africa? Most anthropologist stupidly think Africa. This is the major mistake of anthropology. The apiths make sense as a halfway point from Siva/Rami/Orang to G/Pan
So why am I 100% on Asia? 1. the viral record shows the 18 Asian apes (hylobates/Orange) have zero African Virus shares by all 41 African Apes and G/Pan.
2. The preponderance of apes are in Asia. With only the highly mobile G/Pan in Africa.
3. The shared viral record shows G/P/Homo leaving Orang, for some time then simultaneously fracturing. With only a single shared virus between Homo/Pan. So it makes sense that the less mobile Orang ancestor was deposited into Borneo area at that time while G/P/H was radiating into Eurasia.
4. David Begun points out in his many studies the massive nature of the Eurasian great ape population in the Miocene.
5. Gorilla and Pan arrived into Africa at different times. Gorilla arriving first and being fully speciated by the time Pan arrives. My guess is 20+\- 4mya for G and 10mya+\- 2mya for P. When Pan enters it radiates broadly (as most invasive species do) extending to the southern tip and back up south of the Congo where the bonobo now resides. The Congo is huge and has run continuously for 17mya. This causes genetic separation between PPaniscus and PTroglodyte.
6. The bonobo has been spared infection from SIV, HIV in humans, it has no endogenous copies, whereas the active hunting Commin chimp north of the border has tons of copies. SIV/HIVhas been residing in African monkeys since 18mya. Bonobo and Chimp and Gorilla do shares thousands of other African Viruses raging between 2 and 15mya.
7. Interestingly, Homo has no African viruses or Asian Viruses. Indicating it’s Homo niche for the last 20mya was neither Eurasia or America. We do share viruses with the horse so this makes America a lock for our point of speciation. This is where Marc’s theory occurred. Not the Tethys sea.
8. Homo is the most similar to Orang in Morphology. 35 unique shared characters vs. 11 with G and 2 with P. (Schwartz and Grehan). This paradox makes perfect sense once you realize that the neutral theory is invalid. Shi Huang explained this via the MGD. The two species with last ancestor will diverge the quickest.
9. Homo went to a location with Zero apes or fruits in the trees, climbing was deselected and swimming promoted. Whereas Chimps found millions of monkeys to hunt in the trees of Africa. Homo found its food on the ground and under the water.
10. Homo begins encountering viruses and parasites once it arrives back in Eurasia 2.4mya. The lice record shows diversification similar to homos Eurasian radiation. Homo makes it to Africa and Europe around 1.6mya. Guns bring Chimp, monkey and gorilla within reach and the bushmeat industry causes SIV to cause HIV in humans. Because we have no immunity (like Chimps and African Monkeys). Similarly archaic homo had viruses that are spread in regional homo populations.
11. Lastly, just this week the eighth human to have his full genome sequenced, a bushman from Africa. Interestingly, only 6% of his SNPs were a match with chimpanzee. Far fewer than the human reference genome, or Asian genome. This finding completely in invalidates the out of Africa theory. No one on this forum much less biology should believe it in the least. It is racist, irrational and bad old scientific thought
