What you descreibe is common sense but some times the heart doesnt listen to common sense.
I couldnt tell my heart that when my beloved grandmother died or when i stood with my baby girl in my arms in the bedroom and waited on an ambulance to arrieve thinking she was going to die. I couldnt tell my heart : ohh well if she is going to die i will celebrate the 6 month she lived. That simply doesnt work. Or when my marriage fell apart and i had to realize i could never give my kids the ideal childhood with a mother and father that loved them and stayed together as a safe platform for them the rest of their life. It hurted that my dreamworld broke and the feeling could not be controlled by common sense.

And again I reiterate, I have loved and lost... and I remember them everyday with a huge smile as I was once told by a very wise man to cry for their release is selfish.
At their funerals I did not cry as it was not about me, it was about them. I looked back on their lives and smiled at the joyeous times we had. Eve writing this I remember them with fondness... crying into my soup won't change owt!

LOL I think LF has explained how she views life wish I had that attitude, think my life would be less stressed. Having a positive outlook on life is the key, more power to you LF. On death, a persons life should be celebrated. however was very distraught when I lost my mom and dad. I recall what my late mom and dad told me as a kid to have a drink on them once they passed and celebrate their lives.

The night my best friend committed suicide, I along with the family sat around the kitchen table re-living all the happy stories we had.... sure we were distraught, I could see the pain etched into his father's face. Many years have since passed and we still remember him fondly and the pain is still etched into his face but the only tears we cry are those of laughter.
Suicidal over a bloke LB... if I got suicidal each time a man pissed me around I would be forever at the bloody pharmacy.

I have not read the entire thread but she could have depression.
Depression is serious and doesn't go away on its own. It sometimes leads to suicidal thoughts. For those of you who are bashing the poster, you should try standing in the shoes of someone who has depression.

One of my closest friends is woeful when she drinks gin... I hear the same old stories!!! I do tell her quite frankly to be quiet and to look at the good points in her life... then I have to tell her what they are lol...
When sober she is totally different.

Well possibly YR, because some people DO kill themselves over stuff like this, because anyone with an ounce of compassion knows its not really about the guy, its about how she feels about herself.
NO ONE on here knows what she has been through in her life to leave her feeling this way.
I hope she ignores the self centredness of those on here that dismiss how she's feeling because they believe they are 'superior' to her. Quite sickening really that some people on here WANT to actually invest time putting their malicious thoughts down on a forum to try and make someone feel WORSE than they do already. If you think she is a troll, then dont bother posting, if your life is so wonderful, why bother being here at all, to put someone else down? Well Tina, you feel the way you do about Suicide because of your own experiences, dont you? You have been on the other side of it and so hold negative feelings towards someone who would do this.
The same is true of the poster, she feels this way because of HER experiences. We dont know what they are do we? But she didn't lead a happy life and then suddenly find herself in a relationship where she was allowing herself to be treated like a doormat...something led her there.
I understand why you feel angry, but being angry at everyone who feels like commiting suicide will not change the past. I'm not telling you not to feel angry, or not to think its selfish etc etc, that is fine.
But does it need to be said? Do we need to tell someone who already is feeling negative, MORE negative things?
How will that help them or anyone else? It wont, unless it makes you feel better? If it does then you have to ask yourself why? Because THEY are not the person that hurt you are they.

Whenever I learn about somebody feeling deeply distressed, or suicidal (over really serious dilemma), I just reach out to them (no matter how I feel: tired, angry, s**ty). I'd just stay by their side and make sure they are safe before they receive proper professional treatment. I had one experience of dealing with a suicidal person in the past where prompt help was of ultimate importance.

I have been reading up on suicide tonight and how it is was once outlawed in the UK, how it is Haram or opposed to in certain faiths yet in other cultures how it was once rewarded. This amused me as well. The Roman emperor, Hadrian, in 117 AD declared attempted suicide by soldiers a form of desertion and made it--no joke this time--a capital offense.
Quite a good read.
Did you ever watch the Falling Man? A documentary of an un-named 'jumper' from the Twin Towers. One theory he was a Catholic Guy who jumped from the restaurant at the top. His family fiercely opposed this as he was a good Catholic and suicide is simply a sin. Made me think a lot about people's beliefs. They were mortified to think it could be him. As it happens it wasn't....
