Going to a midnight market, they're cool. If lucky maybe find something inexpensive and collectible. I'll be happy with a fresh catch of crabs as well. Would rather go to the 3am night market, it's the best, but wifey can't last that long.

Probably currency fluctuations. Ł v $ and LE a bit of a yoyo at the moment. If various items eg landing taxes in Egypt (and these count for a huge proportion of the fare) are given in LE or $, then the amount shown in Ł will vary.

I've seen very very early booking for christmas for silly prices - like Ł160 return. Then got to three months before when I normally book and it had gone up to about Ł500 return, but only because it was Christmas I think. Got a return the following week for the Ł160, but as Cheeky pointed out that was down to Sharm.
I generally get the best prices if I wait until roughly 3 months before unless I were to book silly time ahead, but it may be different with Cairo. And it is holiday season I suppose.
Don't think I'll be booking from Luton or Standsted if what TL said was anything to go by. I think the Cairo ones go from the bigger airports though.

I normally start looking as soon as I get back - not so much this time though seeing as everything was all over the place. But three months... maybe it was two? You can generally sit and watch them dip lower and lower, level out then start getting booked up and rising again. But summer's bound to be busier, I'd have thought, but I guess it will be bouncing around for a bit as things are still up in the air.
Ooh - get it on your credit card (sure you know this already) so you're protected, just in case. If it did get cancelled you just get a drawback I think.

Yeah, although I've just searched for Jan Feb and March and they're all about the same. So I guess as long as they don't go way over Ł400 I'll have to go with it.
Flights to Sharm are far cheaper but then any internal flight adds up anyway.

Dis ap point ing! The night market turned out to be a huge wet market, a wholesale one at that. Shady part of town too. Drove around with my doors locked. Walked around and it was definitely not my thing. Tons of slaughtered pigs, tons of slabs of meat, live chickens. A chaotic scene. Not my thing, I think that's where restaurant owners get there produce and meats.
Literally over a hundred other night markets to check out. But this one was a loser. The neighborhood ones are better. This one sucked donkey meat.
1.5 hrs until the Yankee game starts, live on Astro.

Oh God! I NEVER go to those kids of markets!
The Idiot Abroad nailed Egypt when he said what we view as pet shops Egyptians view as lunch. I feel bad for the rabbits and chickens! And I cannot stand fish stalls... WAY too many eyes watching me, they freak me out.

I have no idea what the weekend plans will be. It's pretty much dictated by weather. It's been thundering and raining like crazy lately. If the weather improves maybe water world or the beach. Complicating matters there aren't any interesting performances this weekend. Well no good plays, I like theatre, I like Opera, but not into dance performances, well OK I like the ballet e.g nutcracker . There's a comedy show, so maybe that, better have western acts, because Asians aren't that funny! So everything is tentative. The good news is next week and the end of the month the happenings will be a lot more interesting.

@Micky - don't cook. Get a Philly cheeseteak or something can of coke, all good We ate out tonight, local malay food.
Drove around and had a lovely time. Love driving on the elevated city highway and passing along the city skyline. I love skylines – to me their romantic . Noticed a new Arab rooftop “kafe” downtown, they had live Arabic music that was heard on the streets. Now that's a great business, damn all the great spots are being taken.
Chilling home now, with one eye on the X-box. Yankee game in 5 hrs ...woot. Baseball just makes me happy.

Ok the Yankees are losing. But I'm seeing some great effort especially from the outfielders that saved a couple of runs so far, and also a tiny bit of progress from Hughes (he's a pitcher 25y/o) he lasted the 5th inning, oh....oh...Giradi just pulling him now!
Ok so they down 4-0 no problem the yankees nickname is ...........Bronx Bombers
